Toby Segar is one of those athletes that is so influential to me in the sport of parkour that I can sometimes forget that he is human. It has been pretty insightful to see him on the podcast along with this 10 questions vid speaking from such a candid perspective.
Super candid, this is why I really appreciate the Storror boys. They aren’t ashamed to share themselves and their real opinions with fans in a respectful way.
I do think it’s easier to share this sort of stuff in this format, away from their main channel, though. Can’t be talkin about weed when a massive portion of your millions of views in your monetized videos are minors

@@jackpierre1839hich vid was that?? Also he said it’s ‘mostly’ gone, likely he means he no longer depends on it, just uses it recreationally with mates (reaching a bit ik) but that’s my aim with it. I’m currently in the same boat of using it daily to escape thoughts, to be able to just use it rarely and with mates is the goal. Probs where he’s at. Sorry that was way longer than i meant to type.
TL;DR- he probs just smokes occasionally with mates now instead of struggling with depending on it

@@ariadne0w1 no one says you can't mentally addict to marijuana, everyone talks about physical addiction while saying it is impossible because, well, it is impossible
@@ariadne0w1 There's no such thing as a clear line between physical and mental addiction. Addiction by definition is a pattern of behavior, you can't stop doing X thing for whatever reason. The only real difference between physical and mental addiction is that quitting weed won't kill you, but quitting alcohol too fast might.

i would always just sit on infront of the screen and do useless stuff but when i saw toby’s and storror’s vid i just new i had to do that sport and train like them. Toby is seriously my biggest inspiration. even more he really changed my lifestyle. helped me go outside and explore the things that i never thought i would be doing. he introduced me to the world of parkour. and cause of that i have more friends nowdays and have way better body strength and better mentality. i have no idea if he or motus would see this comment but all i want them to know is. YOU GUYS ARE LEGENDS
I agree with everything Toby said about Pete. Pete is just crazy good. And the part about climbing is also very true, probably for every climber

Its amazing that for someone who seems like he got everything figured out, becoming an accomplished athlete, being part of an established Parkour channel, having the most amazing set of friends, that he has those moments of wanting to have an escape on some thoughts. Every person really is different. Goes to show that even the most picture perfect people also go through dark times.
it's because their youtube channel is only showing the stuff that they feel is worth showing. Mental struggles, illness etc won't rake in the views and engagement.
The most modest and accomplished multi athlete and Parkour Ginger on the planet.

I relate a bit too much to the "putting walls up" because something else is already 'your thing' and you almost feel like you are not allowed to have something beside that...
Probably a little different still but for me it was to a point where I felt like I would be absolutely completely worthless if I didn't pursue art. Used to be my happy place, something I did just for me. But then people kept telling me and telling me how I had to make something out of it and all that. Felt like it was the only thing I was good for and good at. Whenever something artsy had to be done it was "oh yeah ask Kry she'll do it".
It came to a point where picking up a pencil gave me panic and anxiety so severe that I couldn't even manage a straight line anymore. Because failing scared me so much, disappointing people by not making something 'good enough' was my personal hell and expectations were so god damn high. I had tremors trying to do the simplest lineart, all squiggly and ugly. But going for anything other than art felt impossible. Because I was the art kid of the family right? so what's left if I am not that anymore..? Nothing. That's what it felt like. It still does when I have bad days... but recently I got back into drawing portraits after years of not doing it at all.
Now I allow myself to write. Sometimes sing. But it still comes with this guilty feeling. Am I really allowed to be something more? Should I 'waste' my time on something I am not good at (yet)?
So coming from that background... I say "Fuck yes that IS an achievement, to find something else you love". And allowing yourself to be more than just that one thing. It can be so hard to do that. So big respect. It's a massive achievement and I am so happy for him, that he found climbing.
To all you people reading, i wish you all nothing but the best. I hope you all find your places in life where you can feel happy and at peace.
Just wanted to say I loved reading this comment. I hope you've recovered your joy in art and have been able to branch out and find new things too.

As someone struggling to give up weed, it was inspiring to hear someone that seems to be so ahead in life also facing the same struggle.
fr, been smoking everyday for years now i get panick attacks everyday and cant even sleep, because i cant even just lay there with my eyes closed, did shrooms a couple weeks ago and was panicking the whole time, time to quit smoking and nicotine frl

@@R3m3mb3rr I smoked 2g a day for 2 years from July 2019 to June 2021 and the best thing I did for myself was quit cold turkey on the 16th of June 2021 (I’d tried to quit multiple times before but they only lasted a couple days) when I first started smoking I always told myself I wasn’t addicted to it and I’d just keep it as a weekend thing then it very quickly became an every day routine, meet up with the boys and smoke then go home 7 days a week, it turned me into a completely different person instead of chilling me out it made me angry, killed my motivation to do anything and ultimately was the reason for my last relationship and family relationship breaking down, I had to cut off those people I was smoking with in order to take my life down a different path and I wouldn’t change anything now, I hope you can do the same bro it is 100% possible once you get past the first 4/5 days you’ll be fine, I now no longer think about smoking and looking back I can’t believe I used to live my life like that.

Love this guy! Exceptional film maker, parkourist and climber and, more importantly, a very honest and thoughtful person that supports others and especially his teammates.
As a climbing nut it was really cool to hear toby talk about climbing and give credit to Pete. I could watching climbing videos with those two all day.
What he said about weed resonated with me as an ex weed addict!
It’s a horribly addictive and mind altering substance!
Segar is what I’d describe as a quiet genius.
He’s at least 50% of the brains behind the success, promotion and management of Storror!

My friend Xavi created climbing walls for a living. He loved it and those using his walls loved him.
To thwart the Fossil Fuel industry he dug tunnels, (under refineries with JSO and outside Euston with HS2). He glued to motorways and A-roads with Insuklate Britain. There he met his lover.
He was the most beautiful, chilled, friendly, easy-going dude... but when he was imprisoned for peaceful, non-violent, protesting he bacame a soul repressed... and so when he was then let out and given a tag that restricted everything and anything he could peacefully do to 'be Human' he killed himself.
He was, he remains, a beautiful Human Being.
Killed by the State for Fossil-Fuelled Greed.

It takes some courage to open up on social media, especially about personal issues. It is always good to share messages of success (re: parkour, business, addiction...). These stories inspire people to reach their own goals. Well done, Toby & Motus!

As a boxer trainee, Storror has been my inspiration to keep pushing myself to that 110% that I know I can provide. Toby has influenced me so much. This interview felt almost like talking to him. Thank you so much!
As a guy who's recently given up pot after at least 15 years of daily use. I can relate.
Finding climbing is 100% an achivement. I feel the same. Paintball was my sport, everything evolved around it. And then I found climbing a couple years ago and it's not a huge part of me already.
Also, Toby, you're a goddamn inspiration!

I’ve loved watching the storror videos because they are entertaining and inspiring of course… but apart from that, Toby’s down to earth and his genuine personality always shines through. That in itself, is rare to see these days. He comes across as so caring, hard working and talented.

Been watching Storror for almost 6 years and I always felt like I knew Toby somehow (not trying to be presumptuous) I just felt like he is a kindred spirit in a a way. This confirms it. Every single thing he said is my same feeling and outlook.
I had been smoking pot every day for almost 20 years just recently decided enough is enough and I wanted to chase the things I love instead. I have never practiced parkour myself, but have always loved movement and always wanted to. Now I am using it everyday as motivation to not go back to my old habits. So I am now a 35 yo man, trying to learn the very basics of parkour and trying to find myself again.
Beau Miles has been instrumental for my mental health the last 3 years, his outlook is infinitely special and more of us should think the way he does.

This show is so great and the little extra effort to make it hight quality, the multiple angles the little colored paper, really make it that next level of production value
yeah its terribly sad that theres most likely nothing when we die. But laughing and being with the ones we love, creating more memories and good times is what its all about. Finding a significant other is important but finding friends like the Storror crew to create those absolutely hilarious and fun moments are what life is really about to me. On another note, smoking can make some peoples anxiety even worse, which is the case for me at times. Smoking when youre doing fine in life, and you arent too miserably depressed is okay. but ive found that smoking when youre crippled with depression really only drives you further down that dark path. Toby is one of those guys that i only wish i went to school with and became good pals with

Just about to start but I love Toby so much and just the whole storror boys and army! Recently found them and have definitely grown into a soldier in the army of what is the STORROR ARMY!
