One of the better walk around videos imho. I like that he didn't buy into a lot of the typical overland niche products, his upgrades were based off of necessity and simplicity without breaking the bank or trying to recreate the wheel.
I used to be technician at Land Rover, it was always a treat to work on G4s or other special editions. The 2004 G4 and Disco I XD package is still on my wish list. The sweet thing about the 2004's was the 4.6 and center locking diff. Nice rig!

I was a tech at the Land Rover dealer in San Antonio, yeah working on the special ones was a treat. I miss going for training at the Atlanta center and seeing the low mileage white defender on the floor.
I couldn't agree more. I was also a Land Rover tech in CO. Wonderful cars.

Super video and good fun . I love Disco 2, i used have G4 Disco 2 v8. i am very proud of my self because there only 6 G4 in Sri Lanka. One of the best 4x4 ever. Good luck Guys.

Beautiful closing sequence! Nice camera work and soundtrack. That should be your theme music from now on. But you’ll have to make sure your footage is equally as cinematic.

Love my 2004 Disco! For all Land Rovers faults they are still epic vehicles. Get a good one and you’ll fall in love as soon as you get off the black stuff!
do you daily it? I'm looking at an 04 2 owner fully serviced 100k miles. IK to look for a serviceable drive shaft and to get an ultra controller to replace the 3 stage thermo, wondering what else might I go into if I drove it every day. I also hear that the more they're driven the more reliable they are.

PETRUS HAGGARD nice to hear positives about the discos i have a disco 2 its a weapon off road. I get sick of hearing all the negitive crap people say about them, if you look after them they won't let you down.
It's an awesome rig, but you got to know what needs to be done in order to keep it running.

Love this rig! I want a very similar setup. How's the maintenance cost? Do you use it for everyday?
Did he said a “hse package”? That’s incorrect. G4 where base model S models only a few options put on (dual sun roof, power seats, air suspension). Very stripped down trucks. And only competition trucks came with the winch. Also the Mantec snorkels are made to aim backwards not forwards. They look weird aimed any other direction.

Any changes to the front drive shaft? I think the original was a sealed unit baking in the heat of the catalyst.

Only the SE7 had the rear jump seats. The rest of the Discovery's have the plastic bins.
Unless it has rear AC, then it only has the bin on the passenger side. The drivers side holds the AC unit behind the plastic trim panel which occupies the space the bin would fit in.

I've always wondered if the G4 gets better mpg than the regular D2's but can't find any info on it.
i see no reason why it would get different fuel economy. A 4.6 on a p38 is thirstier than the 4.0, the G4 has the exact same engine as a 2001 range rover, about 14 mpg.
@@aecarter1341 I found out later it was not true, , but I had been lead to believe the G4 had a 5peed Automatic transmission.
So the g4 was just a stock variation with a lot of accessories and no fender flares
