      She is also on record as saying that “CIS White males” are responsible globally for domestic violence when in fact here in NZ Māori are the top percentile.     She doesn't deserve sympathy. She was in a well paid, privileged position, and she stood on a pedestal preaching publicly on many matters of morality.     I've had plenty of bad mental health days. Family grievances, stress while working, stress in my personal life, not once have I thought "To cope and make myself feel better I'll shoplift something". The 'mental health" excuse used by Golriz and Kiri was is disgusting and a spit in the face to those who truly suffer mental health problems. She's a liar and a criminal, end of.

Scotties have reportedly said that not all the items were returned. The Greens have explicitly stated that no other Green MP was involved in the stealing. But their statement was left open to interpretation due vagueness.

    Responsibility is being kept legally accountable for our action. A resignation means nothing. Being an elected member of parliament, in charge for creating laws and policies for us to follow is not "just a job from which I can just resign". It's not a joke, it's not about notoriety it's about the core trust building required from someone in a position of immense power.

    I have no doubt that this wasn't just the start of her shoplifting. Id be willing to bet it has been happening for years. Police should be searching her home and asking for proof of purchase... which isn't difficult with todays technology ... of her wardrobe collection.

    Many decades ago, I was bright, well-spoken, persuasive, and idealistic. These days not so much. But at that time, more than a few people, mostly those who didn't know me well, suggested politics would be a good fit. But here's the thing - I knew (although I might not have admitted it) that my skin was way too thin to be a successful politician. I think the people close to me knew the same. Like a lot of younger men, I exuded a certain confidence, but underlying that, I could be pretty brittle. I'm not stupid. I knew this even back then.
    I think all political parties need to up their game when it comes to candidate selection. Being seemingly clever is not enough. Nor does success in one field qualify a person. But all political aspirants need to be honest and humble enough to accept that the job might be beyond them. That's their responsibility. Ego, of course, is the killer.

    Yes, exactly. I've suffered burnout from stress in the past and I reacted out of character for me, too. But my first instinct wasn't to cope by stealing clothing. I don't think most people have latent kleptomania lurking below the surface, waiting to be exposed by a bit of stress.
