How very fortunate New Zealand is to have such an inspiring woman in their parliament. Your words encapsulate everything Australia is doing wrong, the dehumanising, the victimising, and now the atrocities on Manus Island. I will watch your rise as a woman and humanitarian with great interest

She's not a moslem. Australians (majority) are not so worked up about immigration. They are worried about islamic radicalization, immigration of moslems, the increase in the islamic influence and cultures. Not everything is about racism. And racism is high among middle eastern moslems too, they hate black people, their parents would be highly against their kids marrying a white non moslem. If a white aussie person does that to their kids marrying a moslem, they would be pointed out as racist. Moslems want their cultures, but they can't accept western culture eventhough they chose to come to western lands.

"To all authorities, languages, and speakers I acknowledge you. To the people of the land and the people of all nations I also acknowledge you." This is called a 'mihi' and it is a formal introduction used for meetings, important occasions or gatherings. As far as I know it isn't required by law to recite such an introduction using the Maori language but it is a wonderful gesture and shows respect to the tangata whenua (Maori people) indigenous to New Zealand.

ACC - legally discriminating against disabled people since 1974.
"We have a popular discourse that increasingly demeans and devalues those who, because of life's misfortunes, find themselves dependant on a welfare payment.
But the injustice should not be overlooked just because it was difficult or inconvenient."
"If it was unjust for the legal system to discriminate on the basis of where an injury was suffered, or whether fault could be established, then it is surely unjust to discriminate between incapacity caused by a physical injury and incapacity caused by sickness or disease." - Andrew Little
Little: Change ACC illness 'injustice' - Stuff 2012
    'Justice delayed is justice denied
The welfare system fails the 5 principles of Woodhouse miserably. It no longer prevents poverty, it creates and entrenches it. The idea of full participation and belonging for all is a pipe dream.'
    Susan St John 2019
Is it surprising that child poverty is so entrenched? Ultimately the removal of this discrimination is inevitable, because it is clear that this will provide a very cost-effective way to help meet Government’s child poverty reduction targets, but the harm to children of years of neglect by politicians cannot be readily forgiven.
