Here in Missouri we have a color of the week that starts at like 25% off then the next day goes to 50% off then the next day goes to 75% off, but the employees pull all of that color tagged items before it reaches 75% off day to go to the bins so no one really ever gets anything for 75% off. The next week starts a new color. As of January 7 my stores were still doing a color tag of the week.
I'm assuming your in the MERS district. In Hannibal, we get 75% off all the time. All the stuff I find in the Bridgeton bins is raw donations. I rarely find items that went through a store
I spoke to a Goodwill store manager, here in South Texas. I told her that the removal of discount says was taken away. She was shocked and said she has not heard of this possibly happening in our area. This specific store puts out at least 3000 pieces of clothing alone, per day. So These discount says, are much needed, to have room on the racks.
I’m in southeast Michigan very close to Toledo. Went up to Saline Michigan about 40 miles north near Ann Arbor. Senior discount is still on Wednesday. Discount tag colors still in place.
Indiana Goodwills changed in 2022. No more military discounts, senior discounts, half off days or color code sales. Just a rewards program, and those have ceased for the most part. You get 10% off if you spend over $20.
So now we dont get discounts and the price of jeans is $6.99-9.99 but they took away the dressing rooms so ya cant try on the clothing first. If it doesnt fit ya can return it for. Store credit only. So why does goodwill get away with all this and regular stores have to have dressing rooms, bathrooms, normal return policys. How can they put stuff out thats never been tested as working.
I am in North Carolina, and I have been reselling for over 2 1/2 years. I have never seen the color tag discounts in any of the Goodwills I’ve been to during this time ( or any other type of discounts), and I’ve been to a lot. In most of these, the clothes are jam packed making it very difficult to look through. I have also seen a rise in ridiculously expensive priced items in all Thrift Stores across the board.
I think the high prices will eventually turn around and bite them. They still have to keep the stores opened to get their donations. But RESELLERS ARE GOING TO START FINDING OTHER WAYS TO FIND THEIR MERCHANDISE.
Agree! I am south of Raleigh and there are no discount colors in the triangle area. I asked once (after moving from WI where there were sale colors) and I was told they sell enough that they don't need to have discounts.
In our Goodwills they still have 50% off colors…. BUT, by Tuesday they’ve pulled all of that color and sent it to the bins, so unless you go Monday the “week” of 50% for the old color is really only a day of 50% off
In Florida - Goodwills still have one color a week that’s half off but they try and remove all of those items the day the color changes so you rarely even find them. We had an awesome points system rewards program they got rid of last summer. Prices continue to skyrocket.
S FL here…. 50% off color of the WEEK starts on Sunday - went in Monday @ 9:30, and staff was pulling that color tag, and only had 2 more aisles to strip - frustrating!!
My goodwill changed ours in NH - we still get a 50% color every week, but on Sundays we used to have that color go $1.50. It has changed from $1.50 to 75% off. Instead of it only being on Sunday they are going to offer that older color 75% every day.
In my regions Goodwill out in Southern California we have a rotating weekly color thats 25% off to get rid of old inventory. Mondays is discount day for students, teachers, seniors and military personal and they get 25% off also. I haven't heard of any changes in my area. Side note some of the furbos are no longer compatible with phones running ios16 and newer.
You are correct! I’m in Northern Illinois and as of January 1, senior discount, military discount, and color of the week have been eliminated. I was angry for a week. How do you justify receiving FREE inventory and removing discounts to seniors who are on a fixed income. How do you justify removing discounts to men & women who risk their lives for our freedom. Let’s not even talk about the amount of money the CEO gets paid. I hope people will seek out other thrift stores to spend their money at.
You can get it back but you have to convince your regions manager to do it because they made the change, or shame them enough for doing it that they get removed from the position and the person who takes over changes it.
So in our area during the pandemic they took away the color tag sales just this last year we finally got them back. The biggest way they dump old inventory is at the Bins and by the looks of people's youtubes the bins locations are more busy than ever so that could be a big reason as to why they don't feel they need to do the color tags anymore. Then on top of that they sell their bails to raghouses now, combine that with the fact they have their online stores they've created tons of ways to dump inventory now and the brick and mortars in some areas only exist to gather the donations as a primary goal.
I live in Maryland (Goodwill of the Chesapeake) and they stopped the color of the day/week during COVID. Now they have a reward points program which is useless and Senior Day on Wednesdays. That is it. They also use to do 50% everything the last Sat of the month and that stopped as well. I don't shop there often just if I am low on listing inventory for the week.
NJ, they had $1.00 days Sunday for 2 colours, and the colours would then be 50% off during the week, awesome finds amazing deals. My goodwill is huge. They stopped it about 3 months ago. Replaced it with adding a new colour then doing $1,$2 and $3 items then changed it again to $2- $3 items and took away the other colour and no deal during the week. I haven't visited for over 2 months. Inventory quality seems to have declined as well. Don't know what's happening. And prices have skyrocketed.
NC the triad area - Greensboro - Winston- Salem and High Point never had the color program. In the Greensboro area if you sign up for their texts you get a 25% off coupon once a month that you can use once in one store. In the Winston area they do a few weeks of B1G1F jeans just before school starts. That's all the discounts we get. But our tops are all $4.99 and pants and jeans are $5.99.
My goodwill in North FL still has the color tags, but they always start pulling those items off the shelf’s during the same week. Makes it harder to find deals! Plus they have been pricing things higher !
I am in western Washington and the local goodwills removed our $2 mondays and senior and military discounts about 2 years ago. Then at the beginning of 2024 they got of their high horses and brought them back and began lowering prices(slowly they have goon back up) but the discounts have stayed.
In Chicago area and confirm what others are saying: No more 50% color discounts, no Military or Senior discounts, customer appreciation Tuesdays ended last year, and the Birthday Month Discount changed from 3x 25% discounts, to only 1x 15% discount. Of course my birthday is in January, so I got a short stick. Lots of people are VERY upset. My guess is that they are more than happy to send all excess stock to their (relatively new) Bins location(s), so they don’t mind to stiff the retail shoppers!
I’m in Waukesha Wisconsin and I too confirm that GW has terminated all discounts including military, senior, birthday, and half price color tags. However, I ve been told by a GW employee that there will be other customer appreciation events coming which will occur weekly and/or monthly 😢
I'm in Southern Oregon, and we have a new reward points card for shopping both at the store and bins and you can also receive points for donating as well. I believe we still have the color of the week half off, but I have not been to the store or bins in over 30 days or so. Caught the flu 10 day before Christmas and that set me back for sourcing...I needed a break and have a death pile so it wasn't a total failure.
14 degrees near Syracuse NY, lucky only 9" of snow, surprised u don't have a studio for photos. I have 24" cube and 4x4' foam board insulation with white material $60 all total, happy new year!!
Still colored tags on sale, but a couple months ago they discontinued senior and military discounts. No furniture accepted for donations for over a year now. Pierce county wa.
I'm outside of Seattle, WA; haven't been to a GW store in about 3 weeks (I mostly shop the Outlet Bins) but the last time I was there they still had the colored discounts - 50% off for one week and then $1.99 for one week (although I've noticed over the last year that the second week price has changed - it's randomly gone as low as $1.25 and as high as $1.99 at the same store just weeks apart). I am hoping to get time to visit my two closest stores before they close this evening, so if I make it I'll come back and update my comment to let you all know if they're still going.
Goodwill Northern New England (ME, NH, VT) changed their color discount. Sr and Vet discount was 1 D/wk at 20%, now everyday at 15%. Color of week was 50%, then 1 day at $1.50/ item and then 1 day at fill a bag for $15. Now, reduced items spend 1 wk at 50% and 1 wk at 75%, then leave store.
Totally agree, Gahanna and Canal Goodwill are extremely slow bringing inventory out. As a side note, not much good coming out when it does. Not hearing good things about the people working in the back at either place.
Yes I am in Wisconsin and they took the discount color code away. And they also took away the 20% on the second Tuesday of the month. And they took away the Senior and Veteran discount day. So all discounts have gone away. What a shame. Honestly I only buy clothes for myself with the half off colored tag. I don't understand why they did this. Pure greed imo!! Thanks for another great video:):).
I am in Oklahoma.. Goodwill has 50% off color of the week, then on Monday’s the color that was 50% off the week before goes for $1.29 each!! Still can get some deals in Oklahoma!!!
I was there today. All their inventory is stored in the back outside. Boxes of it. I think they are shipping it out. They had bin after bin of donations not coming in the store.
Hi! Love your videos! In the DC area the color tag for members was 75% off. Now it’s reduced to 50% off. They announce in store that there will be other discounts for members offered throughout the year. Disappointing for sure.
Southwest Wi here which our region is like Northern IL and SE Wisconsin. Yes, they got rid of Senior Discounts, Military Discounts, and Tag of the week discounts. They’ve replaced it with a sort of weekly deal. For example, from Jan 4th to 10th, clothes are B1G1 Free. From Dec 26-Jan 3rd, all Holiday items were 75% off. On the 11th a new sale will start. The only other one I can recall was a double points week. The points program still exists but they also nerfed the birthday discount. Used to be you got 1 day during your birthday month where you got like 20 or 25% off. So you could plan and take an entire day and go from Goodwill to Goodwill and get the discount for that 1 day.
I think you might have missed a couple pieces of Polish pottery on the first shelf, but not sure. This always sells really well and most places don’t price it up.
I'm in the same region as some of the other commenters. The day after they implemented it, I overheard an employee telling people to "go online and send emails, write on social media, whatever, and tell them how stupid it is". They also have an all sales final policy. So, no discounts and no returns. I always used to roll my eyes when people would call it Greedwill, but how else do you explain getting rid of senior and veterans discounts. Meanwhile, every other second hand store in the area has discounts (and some have returns)...
I’m in Illinois they removed our color tags. But we still have the 50% off senior days and the 50% off for all the customers then they have at times the 40% off for Email customers
Yes, I'm in Chicagoland & they are discontinuing senior and military discounts, in addition to the 50% off color of the week. Their only discount I'm aware of is $5 off after you spend $100...bah. I'm guessing the birthday month discount is gone, too.
I am in Northeast Ohio and some Goodwills still have the color of the week off tags, but lots are going to $5 off 30 or 35, I don’t remember which. But the racks are filling up and prices are ridiculous. I can’t believe they are doing away with Senior and Military discounts. Shame on them.
January 2024 all Cleveland area Goodwill stores changed their discount from color of the week to the following..."Goodwill’s new Give Me Five discount program provides customers at our retail stores with the opportunity to save on virtually all items purchased in our stores without having to wait weeks to receive the discount. Customers who spend $30 pre-tax or more in one transaction will receive $5 off their purchase." "Additionally, discounts will apply when the following pre-tax totals are met in a single transaction... $10 off $60 pre-tax spending in one transaction... $15 off $90 or more pre-tax spending in one transaction" They also have a 10% senior discount, but I do not know if you have to use it on a specific day or if you can use it anytime. You may not stack the senior discount with the total purchase discount, you must choose one or the other.
Where I’m at Northern Oklahoma we have not had color tags or military discount since 2020. Senior discount and customer appreciation day is one day a month. Was told by a worker they will put color tags back this month
My area (Chesapeake Area, Maryland) ha never has discount colors or days, so I was always jealous of those that did lol. They still have color tags to know when to pull inventory, but it was never discounted.
Down here in SC, but our goodwills (and miracle hills) are a mess. Always understaffed and so slow despite the enormous amounts of stuff they receive. They price up stuff that isn't worth it (even if you aren't a reseller). They cherry pick to run stuff on the bidding site. Now they stopped using plastic bags. It's a BYOB only😂 They're a greedy company that don't pay their employees enough and are going down hill. We have senior citizen day. And they run two color tags in a particular section that are anywhere from 25% off to 50% off. Ok. Sorry for the rant. I basically depend on one GW store for 98% of my inventory. I'm a bit nervous of goodwills future😂
In Indianapolis area they have removed all discounts and have priced name brand clothing at outrageous prices. Also the items on the shelves are priced high as well. I have quit going and I have quit donating to Goodwill as well.
Im in Oklahoma ans Goodwill removed their color coded discounts 2 years ago. But they are putting a Goodwill Outlet bins store in my area. The nearest one is 1.5 hours away.
I’m in Fresno, California and that removed the color program about 5 years ago. They use to have .99 cent days on certain colors and don’t have that anymore. They have certain price points and everything is those price points. Coffee mugs and glasses are $4.99 each, nothing is below that price. And they won’t let anyone use the restroom and they don’t let anyone use the changing room and all sales are final. Mark your prices up by 1/4 or 1/2 and that’s how much more our prices are compared to yours. It’s really hard to source.
I'm in Cleveland and we haven't had a "half off color" for a while. Pretty sure all other discounts are gone as well. They now have a spend X amount and get a discount of X amount.
Nebraska they are still using the color tags and 50% off one color a week and still doing senior and military discounts. Hopefully they won't change it we have so many thrift stores in the Omaha area I don't think they will??
They discontinued the color discounts here in my area in Iowa over a year ago. They have no sales at all at our local Goodwills. It's a joke. Prices are ridiculous, too. I don't even bother going to them anymore.
We still have color of the week in SE Michigan although they actively remove that color at the beginning of the week. I go in 3-4 times per week and rarely find anything on sale. There are many GWs in the metro Detroit that do not have color of the week. Thanks for the great content, stay safe!!
Hi thank you for your content. It's been going on for a while. I'm out west and they stopped those discounts at least a couple years ago. No color tag sales no in store jewelry. everything is cherry picked to the maxxxxxxxxx. I have to watch content for a fix because the thrill is gone.
I haven’t been to a Goodwill in years. I buy at estate sales and yard sales and find plenty of items at good prices to resell. Though, my area of California has yard sale weather year round and I know many places don’t have that.
I'm in NW Indiana and they got rid of the color of the week a couple years ago. They have half off once a month. I'm not sure about the senior or military discounts though. They recently have been lowering their prices I noticed.
I am in Indianapolis and they took all discounts away after covid. They do have a rewards card linked to phone number that we can get discounts that way but they are not ad good on my experience.
I travel to MO with my husband to thrift sometimes. (We live in KS.) They started flexing the discount color so only the slow days are 50% off and wknd days (Fri - Sun) are only 25% off the tag color. Employee said they were the pilot store on this. I am betting it wont last or st least I hipe not. Haven't checked in the stores in Ka sas are fillowing this pilot program.
I buy a lot of full price items at Goodwill, but I would probably shop there a lot less if they stopped doing the color tags. Even if I’m not buying colored tags, it’s the idea that I might get a deal lol
I would not be shocked at all if they removed the discounts. Seems like they have been working on taking any discounts away. An employee mentioned that they were starting a new program but nothing has come out around here. ( central FL)
In KY they do the color but it only applies to clothes. They are half off during the week and .99 cents on Sunday. All other items they do not reduce. they destroy and trash. So china and crystal are broken and trashed. They had this lane cedar chest they did reduce but they put that in a compactor. Clothes they apparently donate to what they call mountain people.
I'm in Chicago and can confirm Goodwill removed colored tags, Military and senior discounts, as well as customer appreciation day. I plan to submit a lengthy complaint.
In California In La county they removed color tag discount, except on weekends 1 color is $2 clothing only. They still did senior discount. Orange nearby county remained had color tag 50% off.
Minneapolis. No coupon with donations. One day a week a color discount but you can’t find anything in that color. One day a week a minimal senior discount. Bins are 2.69 per pound
Here in Missouri we have a color of the week that starts at like 25% off then the next day goes to 50% off then the next day goes to 75% off, but the employees pull all of that color tagged items before it reaches 75% off day to go to the bins so no one really ever gets anything for 75% off. GW is restructuring their discounts here in New England. They will now do a 75% off color, a 50% off color and a daily 15% off for seniors and vets.
Interesting to see the care for your items.. Hope discounts are not ending..

Im in the Eau Claire area. We still have our colored tags. Hoping these dont go away..
My thrift store is getting hard goods out but clothes are slow. Shame on Goodwill removing military discounts.
In Wisconsin- went to goodwill today and they removed all discounts

Came here to type that.
SE Michigan--The Goodwill near me has no sales whatsoever. They offer 10% off if you spend over $21 I think (they call it a loyalty program ).
Military and senior discounts were removed 2 years ago in Hawaii. We still have color code discounts though.
In Alexandria VA the have 75% off for color of the week. We dont get other discounts.
In Central Florida, we still have the discounts.
$15 off $90 or more pre-tax spending in one transaction"
They also have a 10% senior discount, but I do not know if you have to use it on a specific day or if you can use it anytime. You may not stack the senior discount with the total purchase discount, you must choose one or the other.
In Wisconsin starting Jan 1 all discount days even military discounts are done.sad.
The Cleveland Ohio area is mixed regarding half off color tags at Goodwill.
Watching from near Chillicothe OH. Discounts at Southern Ohio goodwills ended in 2023, so its been over a year for us 🙄
Down here in SC, but our goodwills (and miracle hills) are a mess.
I am in central Illinois and they still had 1/2 price color in January.
Nebraska they are still using the color tags and 50% off one color a week and still doing senior and military discounts. Hopefully they won't change it we have so many thrift stores in the Omaha area I don't think they will??
Central Illinois (Land of Lincoln Goodwill District) we still have color of the week and then it goes to .99 on Mondays
❤❤❤
YEP SAME HERE IN INDIANA. GOT MY SHIPPING OUT TONIGHT
Minnesota- No discounts any longer
I’ve noticed Columbus area being slow too, and they are always over flowing outside and ridiculously overflowing inside, with stuff I can’t sell.
Northern Indiana has not run color of the week for a long time now. They still do 50% off days once per month as of now.
North and Central Indiana goodwills stopped all color discounts a few years ago.
50% off color on Sunday the in Syracuse NY.senior discount 15%, Wednesday's
I am in Indianapolis and they took all discounts away after covid. They do have a rewards card linked to phone number that we can get discounts that way but they are not ad good on my experience.
SW Michigan: still have military and senior discounts on one DAY of the week, no color of the week, no other discounts.
I am in Biloxi Ms and we still have color tags on Mon which are $1 each
I’m in Indiana and they no longer have the discounts near me
In KY they do the color but it only applies to clothes. They are half off during the week and .99 cents on Sunday.
All other items they do not reduce. they destroy and trash. So china and crystal are broken and trashed.
They had this lane cedar chest they did reduce but they put that in a compactor.
Clothes they apparently donate to what they call mountain people.
Dang a new Pat Nash? I’m so jealous!!
Went thrifting yesterday knowing we were going to get hit by snow- we have about 14” now and it’s supposed to end in a few hrs. Kansas City,
I'm in Chicago and can confirm Goodwill removed colored tags, Military and senior discounts, as well as customer appreciation day. I plan to submit a lengthy complaint.
In California In La county they removed color tag discount, except on weekends 1 color is $2 clothing only. They still did senior discount. Orange nearby county remained had color tag 50% off.
None of those have existed in my region for around 10 years, it's not going to change back.
No discount programs in NC that I am aware of.
I live in southern indiana but they no longer have the color days with discounts. They have it in Kentucky though.
Yup. Loyalty card system. Spend over $25 get 10% off total sale. No weekly color. Random discounts pop up at register. Not a fan.
I'm not surprised, in WV we haven't had discount programs.
Must be certain areas. I'm in WV and we had color tags, senior day discount and military discount, but now with the changes, there aren't any.
@@loriballew3512 They did away with all discounts quite a long while ago in my area.
Enjoyed the video
Do you still go to Goodwill bins
Goodwilll seems to be the most for profit non-profit organization out there
I find it werid that you only take pictures outside. I think when it snows you should have a back up aera.
Goodwills and Savers both have generous discount policies in the KC area. $1.79 Wednesdays on old inventory at Goodwills in the KC area.
First! Have a great 2025!!
Minneapolis. No coupon with donations. One day a week a color discount but you can’t find anything in that color. One day a week a minimal senior discount. Bins are 2.69 per pound
And the prices are actually crazy high
I dont know if you can help it but the blur effect when filming yourself bothers my vision. Not pleasing. Like watching your stuff.
