Yet to read Dance of Thieves but listening to your review makes me what to pick it up! Just finished These Hollow Vows and went straight to reading the next book in the series, These Twisted Bonds. I'm not a huge fantasy reader myself, but I would definitely recommend the series because so far the world-building is great and something I can actually understand haha
omg dance of thieves was my first enemies to lovers read and im OBSESSED, also last year I read Incendiary which I really liked and my one of my fave fantasy books rn is Legendborn 🥰🥰
Ok… you made me feel better about Dance of Thieves! I started it in KU and was so lost and confused so I DNF’d it… but I think I’ll give it another shot!💘
Chandler Ainsley does a series called taste test where she reads other TH-camrs faves and sees if she likes them. Not sure if you've seen hers before and not saying you're copying but I just wanted to let you know🥰💖
I'm so happy you love Dance of Thieves and Vow of Thieves! I'm reading Crooked Kingdom right now too! I've read Shadow and Bone and I think it was a good solid book, but Six of Crows and Dance of Thieves are superior.
If you loved Dance of Thieves this much, you definitely have to check out The Kiss of Deception by the same author! It takes place in the same universe (and actually before the events of Dance of Thieves) and I LOVED that trilogy when I read it!! :)
i love you to much!!! please don’t forget how amazing you are!!! i love all of your content and i am so excited for your new series!!! i love you des!!! don’t forget it love!!! ❤❤❤ also what you for all of the work that you do for these videos for us!!!
The story like of the Crows in the show is a prequel to what we see of them in the books. So the story you see in the show for like later seasons should align a lot more w the books.
Destiny! I am so glad you loved the Dance of Thieves duology. I 100% recommend the "Kiss of Deception" series that preludes Dance of Thieves. It's an epic fantasy series that also gives you some background to the world in DOT on Queen Leia and her romance. Sara J Maas' "Crescent City" series is also so epic and amazing, she wrote ACOTAR. These books are hefty and the world building is a lot, but I promise the plot and romance is so worth it. Crescent City also also is colliding with the ACOTAR world and the next book is technically the next book in both series.
i highly recommend kingdom of the wicked series, there is a heavy sub plot of romance and the plot itself is really intriguing, it has like fantasy elements with witches and murder mystery. i think you may like it!
If you loved Dance of Thieves, the author also wrote The Remnant Chronicles which is really good! Also another great book with enemies to lovers is Graceling by Kristen Cashore!
Chandler Ainsley does this where she takes recs from other TH-camrs and sees if she also enjoys them and also calls it taste test. Not trying to be hateful or say you’re copying her idea, I just want to let you know. Either way, I love this concept and love to see other creators do it too. ❤
the kingdom of the wicked trilogy is a great new adult fantasy series with subplot of romance! I also think if you liked acotar you’d enjoy the characters and plot! for a fantasy each book is pretty fast paced (300-400 pages)
hiii desss, just wanted to say, if you're feeling burned out, its okay to take a brak, you work so hard and i love your content and you really deserve a break
i recently started getting into fantasy as an adult after reading the acotar series so i am currently reading six of crows!! i also already own dance of thieves and vow of thieves so im super excited to read them now
How’s Six of Crows? I’m not a fantasy reader, but want to be. I got a copy of it and am excited, but scared. I’m scared that fantasy is hard to read or that I’m not smart enough for it if it makes sense? I read romance and fiction.. horror and some poetry.
I used to read fantasy exclusively yet I still hated seige & storm and ruin & rising despite really enjoying shadow & bone lol the six of crows duology is so superior - 5/5 for both books
I’m on the fence about reading The Cruel Prince series, From Blood and Ash series, Zodiac Academy series, and the Inheritance Games. Dance of Thieves is definitely my next fantasy book once I’ve completed finished the acotar series! On the last book and it was my first time reading fantasy, love it!
I just started the inheritance games yesterday and I love it!! I have never been bored and always want to keep reading. The chapters are also really short which is so nice!
this is so good to hear! i’m on the 2nd book of the mortal instruments series and love it so i was thinking about getting the infernal device’s trilogy:)
@@emmisouliere5456 you should! Its amazing, i would read the series after book 3 of immortal instruments then continue after back to book 4 (thats how most people say to read it) Im about to read book 4 of immortal instruments now that im done with infernal devices 😊
Great video as always! I'm not much of a fantasy reader either but my friend recommended the Witch & Wizard series by James Patterson to me. I loved it! It has more of an apocalyptic hunger games feel to it with some magic. It's a YA so it's a quick easy read- and the book it very fast paced! 💫
i have heard a bunch of people say they hate this book 😭 like every booktuber i’ve seen who has read it doesn’t like it. which sucks cause i thought it sounded interesting 😂
If you haven't read a graphic novel before you should read the Heartstopper series!!! They are absolutely amazing. I feel like that could be a taste test video among other graphic novels
since you loved dance of thieves i would highly highly recommend mary e pearsons the remnant chronicles triology. it takes place before dance of thieves and includes a few of the same characters. i wish i would have read it before dance of thieves because it would have made it much easier to understand in the beginning
Six of Crows = So GOOD! I read it before the Shadow and Bone books, and if I were to do things again, I would keep the order the same. I think Leigh Bardugo really gets into her stride with the duology.
hi! i don’t know if anyone else has commented this, but in the shadow in bone show for the crows plot, it is kind of a prequel to the actual six of crows book. (that’s why wylan isn’t there and nina and matthias are split up from the rest of the crows.) since the crows plot in the show takes place at the same time at the shadow and bone plot, it is changed. but, the second season, which should come out in 2023 will be focusing on the plot of the six of crows book and siege and storm. so, please don’t give up on the show! i hope this helped! :)
Bro I literally agree with all your opinions on these books😂 dance of thieves is literally one of my favorite fantasy series and I’ve read a fair share of fantasy 😂
I think the shadow and bone show is like a prequel to the events of six of crows! there are rumours of a solo six of crows tv show + that the actual book storyline will be explored there or in season 2,3, etc. of shadow and bone :)
The events in the shadow and bone Netflix show are different from six of crows because they take place BEFORE six of crows. Apparently season 2 will include events from the actual six of crows book. So Kaz Inej and Jesper are all before the whole SoC plot and everything.
A fantasy series I think you might enjoy because in my opinion is still has quite a bit of romance: poison study by Maria v. Snyder. It’s about a girl who is given the option to be a food taste instead of being executed to prevent an assassination. Eventually there becomes a magical element to the series, but it starts off as more of a court intrigue book. Another favorite of mine is a less high fantasy series: the infernal devices by Cassandra Clare. It’s a love triangle but in my opinion it is not disappointing at all. It takes place in the shadowhunter world of Cassandra Clare’s books (vampires, werewolves, faeries, warlocks, and shadowhunters (warriors to fight demons) all live in the world alongside our own) and takes place in the 1800’s London. The main character is traveling to London to find her brother and falls into the shadowhunter world. I personally prefer this 3 book series over the other books in the world, but they all connect so wonderfully and are all very engaging. I would say the shadowhunter books overall are comparable to the addicted series in the sense that you can follow different characters and plot lines throughout all the books but they can still connect and be one long series. If you are interested I am selling some Cassandra Clare books and some other books as well on mercari so I can let go of some of the books I’ve enjoyed in the past: @belalastanley
Hey Destiny! Love your vids :). Not sure if you know, but I’m pretty sure the storyline for Six Of Crows on the Show is intentionally different. From what I’ve heard, the show is showing the Crows before Six of Crows takes place. (Since Shadow and Bone is before Six of Crows). So I think it’s supposed to be additional content, not an adaptation. I’m not 100% on this but this is what I understood from researching it.
I don’t enjoy fantasy book either however there are a couple that i did enjoy. Gild by Raven Kennedy is super good, and Fantasy of frost by Kelly St Clare is also a great book.
I would love to see you do a taste test on manga. (There’s a wide range of romance mangas that I think would be fairly easy to start from and I find them a little easier to read because there’s less action going on in the art work which makes it easier to understand what’s going on) There’s a fantastic romance manga called A sign of affection that follows a deaf girl falling in love. It’s a college setting and a really sweet and wholesome romance (this one is still ongoing) . Horimiya is another well loved romance manga that takes place in high school (this one is completed). It’s and opposites attract (like Ali hazelwood dynamics). Ao Haru Ride is another high school romance that is completed. This follows a girl who fell in love with a boy in her class in junior high but before she could do anything about it he moves away due to family issues. Then in high school they meet again. Ima Koi: now I’m in love is another ongoing series that takes place in high school but follows more of the dating side of romance rather than the process to date.
When I primarily read fantasy books the shadow and bones series was one I tried to read three times in the past. Every time I loved the first book but could never get through the second book.
Honestly I love fantasy and she shadow and bone trilogy was so boring to me. I would recommend From blood and ash if you’re transitioning to fantasy bc its heavy on the romance too!
i love u sm! i love fantasy!! especially the court of the thorn and roses! i really want to reread the court of mist and fury. what are ur fav fantasy books? ilyyy
If you’re looking for a great fantasy book with a subplot of romance, PLEASE read Legendborn! The second book comes out next month!

The first season of Shadow and Bone is more of a 'prequel' to the actual Six of Crows book. The actually story will start in season 2.
