I came home from college one year. Dad wanted to pour a concrete floor in his 40x60 shop. He had a huge pile of sand, a pile of rock, a pallet of concrete, and a brand new mixer. He bought me a new shovel and wheelbarrow. I mixed and poured concrete all summer. That floor never cracked, even after 50 years!
The MOST important part of your comment...it is PROOF that these important moments stay with you forever. No matter what happens in life, you have these moments that belong to YOU...and no one can take them from you!
I treasure my memories of working with my father as a child. Learned painting, finish carpentry, metalworking, glass blowing, and a variety of other skills. Your girls will have this to remember for the rest of their lives.
I'm a 60 yr old woman and my dad used to teach us what ever he could he wanted us to be able to help ourselves or the knowledge to know how something was supposed to be so for example when they put a new sidewalk in we knew rebar had to be in so when we got older we knew right from wrong and yes I hired a handyman to do a small cement job and he was putting the cement in the wheelbarrow I said what about the rebar his look was something saved me money not having to replace it again in a few years. Even now where I live toilet was stopped up plunger wouldn't work manager said call the plumber I said no I saw a snake for getting stubborn clogs I got it and fixed it I was so proud of myself lol. Way to go you all. I think they are learning pride and self-esteem also.
This family is a workhorse, this man is relentless in his pursuit of making a family home, with the patience of a saint getting the girls involved in a project this big, these girls will remember this for the rest of thier lives, and they will know what it takes to pour cement, no easy task to say the least, may god bless you all, cheers.
You are so right!! These are life long memories...a very strong family, and I so enjoy seeing videos when the kids are INCLUDED.....and they are LEARNING and growing and understanding what it takes to make this ruin a true HOME!
I, too, love pretty and unusual rocks. I think I inherited this from my dad. When he became old and senile, my older brother bought a load of river rock and had it dumped in my parent's driveway. Dad spent months "playing" with his pile of rocks, collecting some and bringing them in to put in flowerpots, making pathways in his garden and just enjoying them. Life's simple pleasures are the best. My favorite peanut butter sandwich is with cheese. Preferably sharp cheddar, but there are other good sharp cheeses that would work. If you like those little peanut butter / cheese crackers, you will love them as a sandwich, too.
I love that you’re allowing your girls to do actual work on the house at their age level but with some independence of responsibility. From the cement floor to Chloe’s chia garden, you direct but don’t micromanage. You are teaching them to learn without fear of failure. They are going to be awesome adults.
Just curious about the age of the girls. Alexa is quite mature so I'm guessing she's about 12. Chloe seems to be about 6 or 7, based on her speech and actions. They both seem to be learning a lot through this experience and that's great.
Your family projects remind me so much of my own family when we kids were young. Some sweet memories that ended much too soon, as my dad died just before my 16th birthday. Keep making those memories!! (House is really coming along, btw!😊)
As parents I feel what you've done to include the girls on the project is one of the most important things. You are doing such a great job on your home and doing it as a family. I'm sure your very aware that lime powder is extremely dangerous to breath in, but its never wrong to remind someone. 😊 I hope everything continues at the pace you hope and want.
Brody is a real Superman! What a fabulous family working together to create their beautiful home! Many blessings and wishes come true which you deserve!!!!
I just love to how you teach your daughters to do real work,it's so beautiful to watch the whole family digging in to the work of creating the future home. I have a daughter myself and she is now grown up and over thirty years old and she have been whit us everywhere from the scrapyard to the plant school and now she is not afraid to do some heavy work when it's needed. She have the spirit that if something is broke then we can fix it, the worst that happen is that it still broken after but so what we have at least tried :-)
Congratulations on giving your daughters amazing wonderful lives , learning skills, amazing exposure and travels. I was lucky if we had one car travel vacation a year.
It is not lost on me that none only the work of the project is intense sometimes exhausting, but you add camera set up from many points and have to attend to that throughout. Great work involving the kids in the process. My wife and I look forward to each installment. Keep up the good work!
I so enjoy watching you work on your home! You have a loving, caring, cohesive family. It's a pleasure to watch your daughters learn by example! Thank you! Blessings from NH USA!!
Chia seeds, it is a lovely sweet Salvia, very big plant with small delicate blooms that grow in spikes off the bush. Replant again in the spring if nothing comes up for you this fall. It likes reflected heat.❤ Leslie- a gardener from Oregon
Watching your videos makes me reminisce about when I was growing up helping my father with construction. His construction crew consisted of my mother brother and myself. It looks like you and your family are having lots of fun.
My father owned a ready-mix concrete business and when I was little we would spend hours picking out the pretty stones from the very large mounds of stone. So watching this really brought back lovely memories. Absolutely love your channel.
Brings back memories of working with my dad and extended family on my grandparents' cottage. Looking back we made jobs take longer but to all of us involved it was so worth it. I am 45 and the mom of a 21-year-old. My grandma loves her cottage at 96 years young; we are so blessed to have every moment. This is what you are truly giving your children, memories and life skills.
I love that you include the girls as much as you can. I learned so much from working directly with my parents and family members. The knowledge you give them now is building confident and loving young women. I look forward to watching all of your videos. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of the process as well. Truly an honor!
These parents are amazing at teaching their children with each experience including their team work as a family building their home together. These children will have the most amazing e!xperiences to take with them into their futures. They do and will continue to have confidence, self respect, and love of adventure in all ways because of these amazing parents. God Speed to you all
The pumpkins are so beautiful. Fresh pumpkin pie is delicious! You steam the pumpkin then smash up to a liquid. Put all the usual ingredients but add one fourth cup of flour (per 9” pie) into the batter and it will come nice and firm not runny.
Family that works together stays together 😃You guys are a hard working team . With all the work, you also video document the progress!!! Simply amazing and appreciate this very much. Loved Alexa’s cheeky “yes Sir”🙂and Chloe is a darling!!! She is a multi millionaire with the diamonds she found😃love all the way from India
I enjoy watching ur family and all ur adventures. Ur children r very lucky to be able to enjoy the life u r giving them. Able to see the world and learn from it all. Ur house is also very awesome with its history and age. ❤
Awesome work! Looking forward to see this room in a month or two to see how it looks :) Thanks for sharing with us the miment with your kids, that is generous from you! Also, I wanted to say thank you for showing the cleaning part of the equipment, it's rarely shown, but it's an important (and long) process ; especially after hours of work! Thank you again
What a great episode. It seems like you have been working on that room for a very long time. Putting handprints in the cement is a great way to mark the end of the cement-and they will be there for many, many years to come. A great family effort!
What a fantastic video! It's wonderful that you are sharing this with all of us, but for your sweet girls, these videos later in life will be so fantastic! I also REALLY appreciate that you INCLUDE your girls..you are teaching them how to smooth concrete...(as just one example) and these are skills that will not only increase their skill set, but also empower them to feel confident to do more. SUPER!
Two of my favourite pumpkin recipes are 'Delicious - Roasted Butternut Pumpkin with herb oil and goat's cheese'. Detail makes perfection, or so Leonardo da Vinci thought, take the time to buy all the ingredients and it will truly become a family favourite I sprinkle a teaspoon of smoked paprika before placing the tray in the oven x. The second is from 'Half-Baked Harvest - Creamy Roasted Garlic Butternut Squash Pasta'. You're welcome, Char
I think Chloe might secretly be the star of the channel. (whispers) “…a perfect diamond”. “Daddy I found a rock that looks like a zebra…so I’m keeping that one.” Lol, she’s SO adorable!
From personal experience growing up spending all my free time around my parents and my younger brother away from any kid my age. I hope your elder hangout with kids her age outside school often.
I’m with Chloe, at 73 I still have little piles of rocks and crystals everywhere. It’s fun to find them and then try to figure out what they are. I love seeing all of you working together. Your family dynamic looks like kindness, patience and compassion. Alex and Chloe are lucky to have chosen great parents.❤
Eventually, Chloe will become so top heavy with pretty stones that she'll tip over and be pinned to the ground. Lol Put out cups of beer and the snails will be attracted to that. I don't think I've ever seen anyone have so much fun pouring a cement floor! Good job too!
Hi dear beautiful family, I admire your renovating project and all efforts to give a second life chance to that old house. I will do just the same when I retire after 1 year but I will prefer Sicily since I like hot weather. But I am very vorried about the old stone walls which come together without any cement like jenga. They seem to me to fall down with a smaller earthquake or a strong wind. Please strengthen them with a steel skeleton inside to hold them. Good luck for every thing.
Great vid family. Building some really strong powerful memories. One of my most fondest memories is building things with my dad, its what keeps me anchored to this day.
My Momma loves to tell the story of when I was very young like Chloe, she would have to check the pockets of my overalls before she washed them, for earthworms I’d stash in there. Always ready for Daddy to take me fishin! ❤
It's all coming along now, looking forward to next week's video. Great job. Rather than destroying your level to level out the cement, may I suggest it's normal to be using a plank of wood instead.

no rebar?
Love your comment
The MOST important part of your comment...it is PROOF that these important moments stay with you forever. No matter what happens in life, you have these moments that belong to YOU...and no one can take them from you!
My father never allowed us to do anything! We ended up being underconfident & insecure!
@@tiffcat1100 sorry to hear that!
This is more like building rather than renovation. It is amazing. No electricity, no window, no water pipe, floor is litterally just ground.
I am sixty years old, and i still put rocks in my pockets. There are treasures everywhere! 🧡
I treasure my memories of working with my father as a child. Learned painting, finish carpentry, metalworking, glass blowing, and a variety of other skills. Your girls will have this to remember for the rest of their lives.

Love how you get the girls involved ❤❤
I learned that when you strip a floor it must be done completely because the joint will be seen when the concrete dries. 😉👍🏽🙏🏽🌹🇵🇦✌🏽

Wonderful, beautiful family. Love you!
Thanks!! Alexa is 9 and Chloe 7, and we love all of their help!! Amazing memories ❤️

I LEFT THE PRINTS OF MY LITLLE SHOES ON THE NEW CONCRETE THAT MY FATHER MADE , IN 1973 ....I CAN STILL SEE THEM TODAY . ❤

Awesome, your girls will be strong and skilled for life. My dad taught us all to be more independent, skilled, strong. Miss my Dad❤🙏
I only wish my family was half as happy as yours.
I just love to how you teach your daughters to do real work,it's so beautiful to watch the whole family digging in to the work of creating the future home. Family experiences that will cement your relationships forever!

That is awesome!
I love the way the older daughter Alexa is getting really comfortable talking to us, to the camera. That is so cute!
Big hug to Alexa from Austria. Such a sweet and considerate girl. She's really become a young lady in the best sense of the word.
She is growing up sooooo fast!!
A suggestion,
Get some rakes they are more suitable than shovels to spread concrete.
You have a "few" more slabs to poure.
I hope it helps.
Praise God! Watching you giggle at each other, encourage each other and knowing when to say job well done. Our prayer team prays for you daily.
Great that you're involving the kids. Experience AND free labor. Alexa and Chloe start making your Christmas list. You've earned it.

Making memories is the main reason we are doing this as a family :) Thank you!
Family fun times, making memories ... and the cement imprints will make a nice impression for decades.
The hand prints are a brilliant idea. As your girls will remember what fun they had helping you lay the floor xx
Dad is so patient and kind to his daughters who want to help today.❤️😄👍
I love how hard your girls work. They are beautiful like their mom. Great job ladies.
Best home schooling & bonding with their parents, great job guys. Real team work family unity

That looked like a herculean job! Amazing how smooth like glass you were able to make the floor! Cute the girls leaving hand prints.
The leveler is actually called a screed or screed board. They also make powered versions as well. They take a lot of the work out of the process.
Chloe is my spirit animal. I’m 52 and have picking up and polishing rocks my whole life. I totally get it.
Your perseverance is starting to pay dividend.❤❤❤❤
Delicious for pumpkin soup & roast pumpkin is like eating sweets!
So good to see your floor almost done…
So close!
With all the hard work you’ve all doing, it’s so good that you take time to record the memories and to leave your marks in the concrete!
I love how patient you are ith your children ❤
This video should be entitled, " Dad works his arse off again!!"
I love that you have the patience to get your children involved in the build. It will be something the never forget.❤️❤️❤️

There’s nothing better than the sound of the whole family giggling together at the end of a long day of hard work.
Definitely a special memory for us :)
This made me remember pouring the floor of our barn in the summer as a high school student. Core family memories for sure!
You are doing a great job. I enjoy watching your family. You are great parents. Good job for the entire family doing all that you did on that floor.
I love how u held the girls n made hand prints blessings from North Texas ❤

So unbelievable the tremendous work you’re doing… amazing. a One Family Show! God Bless you and your family.
Wow you finished your first complete cement floor 🎉🎉
What a great episode. It seems like you have been working on that room for a very long time. Putting handprints in the cement is a great way to mark the end of the cement-and they will be there for many, many years to come. A great family effort!

Nice job. Your girls are learning a lot.
Love often hearing the bells ringing in the background
It certainly makes for a peaceful environment for doing this work :)
Well done turning something like pouring concrete into a fun project.
Nice job everyone. Such a lovely family
Hard work you guys...
Just a thought...🤔 shouldn't the reinforced bar grid be 'suspended' midway-ish in he concrete slab for maximum strength ?
Aww thank you so much for sharing this beautiful journey with us
Eventually, Chloe will become so top heavy with pretty stones that she'll tip over and be pinned to the ground. Lol
