I heard Marc Daniel Nelson talking about this on a podcast today. It's modeled on his outboard summing. He asked the company to design it because when he does mixing for films, which can have tons of stems and recalls, working with outboard gear becomes too much of a headache. I barely understand what summing is, but he made a lot of sense with the way he talked about the process of designing the plugin and getting it to be really accurate. I'm going to demo it, for sure.
It’s a really awesome plugin, very unique. Very cool on mastering!
Thats the magic sauce, amazing analog sound to it! Will sound great on my next mastering 😜 the song sounds great too!
Looking forward to using it on your next master 😜
Thanks for the vid! Just got the demo of this a couple days ago and this helped a lot. It's a lot of dough to drop, but worth it for sure.
No worries mate! Yeah I understand, but it is a pretty awesome plugin!
your work sounds great! your passion shows
Thanks legend!
Very cool. I loved that 8-Channel mode. It opened things up a bit. The drums sounded more punchy - didn't have to fight for space. Cool demo, Rhys. Thanks.
Thanks mate, yes I was surprised by the 8-channel! So sweet sounding!
Good job on showcasing the strengths of this plugin mate! MDN definitely knows his stuff and this plugin shows it. If I didnt have Acustica, I would be tempted to add this to my wishlist.
Thanks Edward! It’s definitely a well crafted plugin, very realistic analog characteristics.
What are you using for summing from acustica bro?
What are you using for summing from acustica?
@@gabrielokechukwu4630 hey, I use AlexB’s SSL 4KU library by default but if I want something “fast” I also have his API Vision Console library.
Would be nice if the GUI changed with the EQ scaling switch.
2CH has a very nice midrange center focus, while 8CH opens it up. I imagine the various combos of the 2-Ch-8Ch and Line amp settings provide some nice colors. I like that PM's idea of saturation is subtle and not overblown. All of their plug-ins sound fantastic.
Yeah I think some people over cook the saturation side of things lately! It’s usually best used subtlety, or in a dramatic effect. Lots of
Distorted mixes floating around under the guise of “saturation” haha
Great review
Thanks mate!
Great vid! The ratios on the compressor tho are BOTH lower than 2:1. A is 1.2:1 and B is 1.8:1. Just figured you'd want to know.
Yeah… I messed those numbers up unfortunately 🤦🏻
@@spinlightstudios I saw! I should have figured someone else would have pointed it out haha! I didn't delete my comment for the algorithm lol!
I swear half of the plug-ins I buy are based heavily on your suggestions hahaha I have absolutely no regrets especially with the Black Salt Audio stuff.
Who would you say this is geared towards?
I would say this is great for mix bus and mastering - so anyone really! Seems like a nice all in one kinda package / channel strip kinda thing for some sweetening of the mix! Maybe give it a demo and see if you like it or not!
Bravo😊
Does this plugin insert into the mix bus? Or can it be used in instrument clusters? Thanks!
You can use it anywhere, but think it probably excels on bus’s/groups
Using the P455 in Logic I can't seem to find the Oversampling button. Any thoughts?
If you are in 44/48k oversampling is always ON, as such, you don’t see it.
thanks
@@ZiadSidawi
Do you put it before the final limiter?
Yep!
@@spinlightstudios so at the end of the mastering chain yeah?
the ratios are 1.2:1 and 1.8:1
Probably should have mentioned that 😝 it’s in the manual 😇
It would be even more flexible if the eq multiplier could be per band
The transformer behaves differently and the different bands interact differently based on the multiplier. As such, you can’t have multiplier per band.
Ratio B is 1.8:1 not 8:1 😅
Ahh whoops 😅 I’m only human!
it’s an EQ
Very good observation 😂 but it goes beyond that too.
