Here are top ten interesting facts about Isiolo town,
1. Mohamed Kuti is the current and second governor for Isiolo and took office in 2017 and he is deputized by Ibrahim Abdi Issa. Adan Dullo Fatuma is the senator and also the first woman to be elected as a senator in Kenya. Rehema Dida Jaldesa is the seating women representative for Isiolo.
2. The town has an estimated population of 80,000 people.
3. Isiolo is set to become a major resort city as part of Kenya's economic development plan Vision 2030. It will host casinos, hotels, upscale retail outlets, a modern airport and transport facilities. Isiolo will also be a transport hub as the location of the fork of the LAPPSET Corridor.
4. It was founded around the local military camps, much of the population being descended from former Somali soldiers who had fought in World War I.
5. It is very cosmopolitan. Isiolo is home to the Borana, Meru, Somali, Turkana, Samburu and Rendille.
6. Isiolo District was designated as the Headquarters of the Northern Frontier District by The British East Africa Protectorate in 1922, until the North Eastern was curved out as a separate province in 1963 following the Lancaster House Constitutional conference.
7. It hosts Kenya’s fifth international airport.
8. Isiolo lies on 3694 feet above sea level and the average annual temperature in Isiolo is 23.3 °C.Its not actually as hot as you might think because of the cool winds blowing from Mt Kenya. The climate is generally arid and semiarid but one thing I noticed is the many, many trees.
9. It’s the capital city of the 6th largest county in Kenya.
10. It’s the centermost town in Kenya. If we ever thought of creating another capital city for Kenya I think it would be very strong candidate.

I liked the idea of relocating Kenya's capital and building a new city here especially functioning as an administration center. It would have eased pressure on urbanisation in Nai. It's a very strategic position that can be accessed by every corner of the country.
That's actually a genius idea since it's basically sits on dry land of desert and its very well geographicaly located but the reason kenya has not done this is one : utilities and money, heat, poor infustructure, not even a city, not well designed, too small, little population and last but not least is moving the government there. If there was any another place there can be to replace nairobi as the new capital is either Mombasa, ruiru, nakuru or thika I suggest a dual capital system wich include 2 capitals like Yemen, tanzania, Chile, Western Sahara, Egypt and other more pls tell me wich one u decide cus am REALLY CURIOUS

Isiolo my beautiful town. Fact 11 is that the town is in a really strange location. Just on the border of Meru (partially surrounded by Meru County).

Security the town itself is very good. But deeper parts of the county experience some tribal clashes.

Shukran AfroArtista Films. This is so helpful! I have just got the news that I am being transferred from Garissa to Isiolo. Basically, I knew nothing about the town except that it borders Meru and the inhabitants are mostly Boranas. so I am very curious to learn more about it, the weather, culture, social amenities like supermarkets, hospitals, housing and especially whether there are good schools there or not, I think you have left that part out and it is very crucial for people in the same situation like me.
Isiolo is in many ways better than Garissa. For one its cooler and you can even see Mt Kenya from there. Still warmer than Meru though. The place is mostly 60 % Borana ,30 % Meru and rest Turkana and Samburu. It has all the social amenities you'd need including good schools and supermarkets.

They do especially the Ciddagalle of Issaq, Majerten and Dhulbahantes. But Isiolo was hunting ground for the Ajuran Somali kingdom in 17th century, and when the Colonials arrived they placed it under the jurisdiction of King Idow Roble. Also another Somali worrier Adan Ibrahim of the Ogaden was present before the Harti and Issaq, today Somalis emigrated out due to the shifta war and Kenyatta regime bombing of Somali towns especially in Oldonyiro,Tualle, Loon Gubatu, Barr sellinga, Shaba and Dhaaba.

In fact Isiolo was founded by Somali soldiers after WW2 so its not right to call it Somalia because Somalia didn't exist when Isiolo was created
