I like how these bands were able to sing about dark and sad stuff, without depressing you too much, because they made it aggressive or upbeat. Such as Korn, Slipknot, System of a down and such. Don't get me wrong, I was a big Nirvana fan in the 90ies, but it often was just depressing, because it didn't have that energy to just shake off your depression.
@@wolfgangengel4835 Pop and rap dominated the radio waves after a certain point mid-2000's and it's continued on today. Rock and metal are basically dead on the radio.
@@thebenis3219 Pop and Rap always dominated since they came up. But what I noticed is, that metal (such as Nu Metal) disappeared from Music Television in the mid 2000s. Except from Linkin Park, maybe. (Which makes sense, cause LP were the most radiofriendly nu metal band, and already had some pop punk and emo vibes). While bands like My chemical romance, 30 seconds to mars, Panic at the disco and Fallout Boy went through the roof in the second half of the 2000's. So basicly emo and pop punk. And I hated those bands for killing Nu Metal to be honest. I went all the way from 80ies music, wave, punk, goth, metal, grunge, to nu metal in the early 2000's. But after that I started to lose interest. Metal, rock, punk, alternative never really competed with pop or rap.
I always remember the video because it showed teenagers and young adults who I could see that were just like me. It didn't matter what they looked like, you could see their homes, their rooms, and how they all shared this same angst and struggle while being unified with how they were when got to appear around the band while they were playing. P Roach is a massively underrated group who persisted far beyond the Nu Metal sound for which they were initially known. If you do a deep dive into their catalogue, you will unearth some absolute classics. They're about to release a new album, some of their best material in years. Love you guys, my bad I'm a huge fan of this particular group.

The newer stuff is great, too, like "Fall Apart," "Face Everything And Rise," "Leader of the Broken Heart," "Gravity," and "Still Swinging." Other great ones are "Forever," "She Loves Me Not," and the collaboration he did with the Hu Band for a translated version of "Wolf Totem."
So glad to see you two doing reactions to songs from this band now. Papa Roach has plenty of great songs but I have waiting to see how Lex responds to hearing Born For Greatness for her first time. That song never fails to get me hyped up.
This band is even better live. Saw them at K-rockathon many years ago and they stopped playing at one point when a male cheerleader team threw a guy about 10 ft in the air, they thought it was so cool and said they weren't playing another bar till they did it again, the team threw the guy 15 ft into the air and the energy papa roach had playing went up even higher after, it went off and was crazy awesome.
So cool to see people reacting to this Rock club banger from back in the day, for the first time! Reminds me how good an album infest was, hell, still is!!!
This is one of those songs that has a deep, powerful message, but kinda gets lost in the upbeat sound. Prime example is 0:50 where he talks about suicide but Lex gets a smile on her face. Throws you off a bit. Great song, and powerful message.
I was friends with these guys in high school. This song was written after another mutual friend had a bit of a psychotic break and attempted the old self deletion. He survived, but got super religious after that and removed himself from our social circle.
In this episode of Brad & Lex, Jacoby Shaddix's voice begins the intro before the unique acension and descending guitar riffs get Lex ready for her "rocker bop" with brief air drums as Brad executes a calm, collected "side to side sway" before a quick bath debate with Lex.
