I love the purity and clean simplicity of this performance.

This purity or "clean simplicity" is of course very difficult to achieve on the guitar. Another form of virtuosity that is implicit, as opposed to the explicit and obvious facility of a performer who plays a string of fast notes. It's far easier to have clangy nail sounds, squeaks, and to make pretentious facial expressions to be so-called expressive, like so much of what is happening out there in the risible world of "the classical guitar," than to pursue this sort of purity.

@@10String exactly! To me, this is precisely the hallmark of genius - the ability to solve problems, to extract the essential elements, and to create art (or science or any other solution) from the initial presentation.

It's from a BBC radio interview with live performances of 20th-century Spanish music. I will upload my restoration of the full interview with performances later this week.

You are referring to the movements of Leonardo Balada's "Analogias," but I would say that "Analogias" is a very special work and something unique (not conceptual or programme music, which I consider to be among the lowest forms of music). In Balada's piece, I would say, the organizing principle is not melodic, harmonic, rhythmic, serial, or any such thing but analogical, which was something quite radical. But in a more traditional piece like Turina's it wouldn't be appropriate to view the music in terms of such analogies. Of course, yes, on a subjective level, one can imagine anything the music evokes for oneself. But personally I wouldn't view pure music (like Turina's Sonata) in terms that are appropriate to programme music (e.g., "The Prince's Toys" by Koshkin).
