Even with the changes to EOD, this build still rocks. Honestly I feel even stronger, or maybe I'm just getting the hang of it better.

Look at these boons, man 17:59. Better than what you see be applied in some 10 man raid squads.

I really like the breakdown of the rotation you do where you explain it, then actually perform it while explaining again on the training dummy. This made me realize that a ton of spells don't have cast times haha! Your initial .2 seconds was like 4 abilities I couldn't believe it.
Interesting, I haven't played my Renegade in OW for a while but I used to use Trailblazer's gear and Malyx a lot (occasionally using Dwarf to solo champs). But maybe the torment change and Kalla Elite skill healing cap made that a less viable option. It wasn't as defensive as this build is but still had great sustain.
I'm really bad at this game. You've helped me be slightly less bad at this game.
I honestly love how you're just slapping celestial stats left and right hahahahaha, luckily since the 80 booster change this is a definite go-to guide for new players. Keep it coming my guy!

Ever since they improved cele, 75% of my toons run cele, cele let's the build define it instead of it's gear, I love it in open world, combined with sigil of the stars to get even more of a buff, just really makes you notice how your build affects your gameplay. Plus it's beefy. 😄

Thank You! It completely changed my opinion on renegade. I am still struggling to find a good build for my Ranger. Tried the one you posted but it just doesn't do it for me.
What sigil can we replace the sigil of doom after the legend swapping bug fix? I personally changed it to sigil of earth, but am open for some more suggestions.
Is rune of the renegade viable here? and also, is staff the only decent choice for second weapon?
Hey Vallun, with the most recent changes and since staff is rarely used..mainly for open world, would it be best to just have (2) shortbows equipped so you can still get swap effects and keep up the dps? If this makes sense, what sigils would you use?
it doesnt make sense at all, the swap sigils can just be replaced with on crit sigils which are comparable in effect, withou losing the utility of an entire weapon when you need it

I'm intrigued by this build, but I have been working on a Cele Tempest that is really cool and strong too. Between the Cele Tempest or this Cele Renegade which would you recommend for more effective solo play?

Thoughts on antitoxin rune for wvw? The only time I typically struggle is vs certain condis 1v1 or when outnumbered, it’s the condis that are more of the struggle.

antitoxin is good but not on this build, you want it with builds with lots of small cleanses, this only has the legend swap. Go for something that works better with the high resolution uptime like condition reduction on hoelbrak or even resistance rune still
Ah makes sense. I also use sigil of generosity - which I think works with antitoxin and also it’s nice on the swap to staff and the staff cleanse.
I’ve got legendary armor though so will definitely give durability a go. It’s such a clutch rune for roaming.

I'm working towards this build and even though I do not have full ascended celestial gear (mostly exotic celestial), I'm feeling pretty tanky and the sustain is quite good.
One question: Is this build viable in more difficult content such as raids or strike mission? I haven't gone into that yet, and I have been looking at metabattle or snowcrow for build that use celestial.. however, most of them are recommending short bow and mace/axe. So I'm not sure how different it would be when I'm in raid
a build that is meant to be good everywhere vs a build that is meant to optimize for one specific game mode, of course there will be differences and if you want to be optimal at one thing you need to build for it

I use sword/axe, but sword/sword let's you go dual lightsabers, which is content in itself.
I use mace/axe, but my runes and food are condi focused. Could do sword/axe or sword/sword. Celestial is super flexible.

What are your thoughts on using Superior Runes of Leadership? Do we not switch to Righteous Rebel for Fractals/Raids for perma alacrity? Without the extra boon duration from Runes of Leadership I feel like we don't have enough boon duration to keep alacrity up.
yes you would swap to righteous rebel for fractals, you do get extra boon duration from durability runes, not as much as leadership, but in fractals you gain boon duration from the agony resist mastery no? if not then you could easily replace it with leadership if thats your priority

does the extra toughness from durability say for example make you prime target from the boss in raids and fractals?
it absolutely can if the tank does not have more toughness than you, or you can just learn to tank
trying to decide my new main between guardian or rev... I'm dad and don't have much much time to "study" a class deeply. The thing is... I really like the rev concept but I find kind of difficult to deal with energy. But I'm more willing to develop more in a class. What do you recommend to play? I play pvp/fractals/wvw roaming
rev and guardian are both great in all of those situations, so definitely stick to rev if you like it and just get some practice using rev, its all about feeling your energy management

Would you rate nightmare runes with this build? I've already got them in the gear from a different build not really wanting to lose them.
the premise of the build is convenience, and those runes arent too big a difference, so i wouldnt worry about getting durability, but of course i would never use nightmare runes with this build if given the option

I’m curious because celestial might be a more flexible option for walking to Herald.

Its probably for the Boon Duration, since you throw out quite a lot of Boons with the Build, also Renegade can make good use of virtually every stat on Celestial, so you dont really waste any Stats on it, just my guess though
Is this still viable to play with nerfs on battle scars?
I think there must be a mistake in the description, it says longbow and shield for pvp? Might be a mix up with a different build?

What's your take on the Malyx / Corruption version ? I tend to run that, never tried invocation jarlis for open world.
invocation essentially gives you fury, vigor from fury, swiftness, and tons of energy to get all the other boons from skills, corruption makes you move at snails pace and do slightly more dmg to enemies who stand still
@@Vallun I made a few gear swaps on my rev, tried invocation jarlis on a tour of solo'ing HoT HPs, god damn, it does feel a LOT better to play than Malyx.
Having stab from the road and protection from the spirits ( instead of the shortbow trait ) was a big improvement in just lazy QoL.
I wish I had known about that a while ago.

What if we use Torment Runes? Will it heal better and synergy with the Malyx Elite & shortbow also has lots of torment as well? :3
torment runes are ok but theyre a bit expensive and will overcap your torment duration whereas traveler will give you all condition duration which is nice for burning and bleeding, and the movement speed is way better than being slow but having more sustain when you already have good sustain from parasitic contagion

Why are u using durability runes instead the leadership runes like your celestial herald build? Is there any difference? Is it bad if use the leadership runes in the renegade build?
mostly because the condition cleanse from leadership was good for the herald build, i dont care much for the difference in boon duration between the two, but durability rune is not as necessary on the herald which has pulsing protection

there is but not to the point of mattering, if you have ascended use it, if you dont use exotic
I've had renegade lingering in my mind for SO LONG, but i just can't get into it. I think I need to get chuka and champawat first ;--;
Dumb question, but would you say this, DH, or something is a more fun "ranged" build to play? I tend to like playing ranged damage dealers, but so far everyone in forums or discords just say ranged is bad and its all about melee.
i would say dh is a more melee oriented build, this one is pretty much ranged, so i would say stick to this one

All gear can be bought exotic(orange) at a vendor in wvw. Anything you need and all stats are selectable

Celestial and skills offering personal sustain are never for group content. So..no not really. Look at snowcrows for group stuff.

it was nerfed so its normal yes
@@Vallun Ah that explains it. I kinda felt the healing wasn't that much for the build. Although the survival is much better then a pure power build.

im struggling with Kalla stance to get it below 10 lol
remember that to do the kalla combo you need 50 energy so dont use the spirits until you have that much energy, dont just throw them out whenever

Love the build but at the same time i HATE you for putting this and the druid build out. every ranger and rev i have come across has been running this in WvW and now its no longer fun to try to WvW

Why not "Celestial series". Its your fall wvw players have become so boring to play against them.
i have lobbied for the nerfing of celestial on the forums and in my videos, if you think its my fault for advertising the specs, then just maybe consider what happens when i ignore the cele specs and people say my builds are not viable because i dont include the best builds that arenanet refuse to nerf. Helps to think outside yourself sometimes
