An old school metalhead was always someone who listens to metal for ages, it was always connected to age. The meaning of old school, it's always the same across any genre or anything you want to apply it to, cut the bullshit.

Second of all, old school refers to something being done how it used to be done 'in the olden days'. So by saying you're an old school metalhead, you are also referring to your preference in metal 'how it used to be done'. It seems like you're trying to gatekeep being an old school metal fan which is weird. An old school car enthusiast isn't an old bloke who likes cars, it's someone who has a particular taste for older cars. Not rocket science...
