I don't know what kind of media you guys consume, but the YA romance books I read are specifically about couples like this, and if not they have spin-offs about the side character couple.
Alternate How They Met Story: Sara was hired to dance during a funeral at the place Hunter worked because they thought she’d lighten the mood. Hunter admired the fact that she unintentionally made everyone feel worse.

At one point in the series, Deborah will have a health scare that will shake Sara especially hard, recalling back to when she was younger and Deborah laid down some supportive wisdom that helped encourage Sara to pursue her dreams of dancing.

I imagine that Hunter's original goal was to encourage Sera's cringe to make fun of her. But Sera, having that bimbo energy never realizes this and just assumes that Hunter was just being supportive of her terrible dancing. And now, after several dates later, even Hunter can't figure out if her compliments are sarcastic or not, causing ALL of her compliments towards Sera to sound overly sarcastic, which causes everyone but Sera to hate her even more and think that Sera is in a toxic relationship.
I imagine a scene like this:
Sera: *Dancing her heart out*
Hunter: "Wow, you're dance is sOoOoOo cool Sera."
Onlooker: Hunter! Don't listen to her Sera.
Sera: "It's not cool? ☹ "
Headcanon: Hunter’s “vandalism” is grave desecration because she keeps dropping her tools into corpses but can’t afford to replace them, so she has to dig up the bodies she prepares to get her forceps or whatever back

@ fetterkeks: Forceps are basically medical tongs -- they're used to reach in and grab stuff when your hands won't work.
My head-canon is that Sara likes Hunter because she is the only one with the heart to just bluntly tell Sara when Sara does something Hunter finds annoying, so Sara feels she doesn't have to worry about it around her.
When Nathan comes back Nathan and Karina should draw their own couples and then as a speed-draw swap couples with each other and draw a date for each of them

Headcanon: Sara steals Hunter’s dresses when Hunter is out vandalizing, but all the sleeves are too long and she gets wax all over them when she makes her candles.
Second Headcanon: Sara made Hunter a scented black candle called Rigid Morise. Hunter didn’t have the heart to tell her it was actually spelled Rigor Mortis. She still burns it in her office everyday, though. XD

I love how Jacob just straight pulled Karina into full on third wheeling for him and Julia.
I like to imagine that when Hunter first met Sara she didn't like her at all but saw her as someone whom she could easily manipulate. So she cynically "befriends" her with the intent of taking advantage of her stupidity to hopefully make some easy money. But over the course of their money making adventures, Sara's unbridled enthusiasm and commitment to Hunter's plans eventually worms their way into and warms her heart enough to where she starts to develop feelings for her and slowly begins to treat her better and actually care about her wellbeing and as a result scales back on her money making schemes to no longer put Sara in harms way or get her into trouble.

Hunter's dry erase marker squeaked as it scribbled against the window on the back of Sarah's dance studio...well...ok. It wasn't Sarah's really, but it's where she practiced, and vandalism didn't care about specifics. "aquamation." It said, a brilliant message for anyone who would actually get it for once. Not like that guy across the street who got upset when Hunter complimented him by saying his makeup covered up his pimples like corpse makeup covering up stab wounds. How could he not understand a compliment that direct? People were so basic.
Sarah stepped out, looking around and spotting her girlfriend's flowing gothic dress. Giggling, she pranced over to Hunter. "Ohmigosh! You came to pick me up! How sweet!" Then she paused, looking at the word on the studio's window. "Aquamaton? Is that like...some new dance style?"
"Kinda. It's a form of green burial, like cremation, but with like...water." Hunter explained, her half-lidded eyes expressing her boredom, even as she flashed her girlfriend a little smile.
"Oh! Cool! So I bet it's like this, right?" Sarah asked, before launching straight into a dance. Her movements tantric and flowy, before finally ending with a dramatic pose, hands clasped over her chest, mouth agape, eyes wide. It was so corpse-like, so perfectly reminiscent of the stillness of death.
"Exactly. I knew you'd get it. So...my place for dinner? I got those new candles you made me...I was thinking we could watch some TV and have a candlelit dinner."
Sarah grinned broadly. "Ohmigosh, YES! C'mon. Let's go!" And with that, she linked arms with Hunter, and started dancing off toward her partner's apartment. Hunter walking beside her, undisturbed by Sarah's swaying and occasional pose striking. This was love, after all.

Sara absolutely dances at a corpse in a coffin because it’s making everyone at the funeral sad. Hunter does nothing to stop her and everyone is horrified at first but then starts joining in the dance making a very sad funeral extremely fun. However the unexpected dance party does cause the funeral to last three hours longer than expected putting Hunter’s schedule horribly behind but she’s too busy loving Sara (who has dragged her to the dance floor) to care.
You know Sara Pena is the kind of gal who knows the Jojo's torture dance by heart. She's giving me that same intensity and awkwardness combined.

Obviously. These are the correct casting decisions. (I seem to remember Aubrey Plaza's character in Parks and Rec wanting to work at a funeral home at one point. She decided against it, possibly because she'd have to go back to school.)

I was gonna say Jacob and Julia are so good at character design but honestly EVERYONE at Drawfee is good at character design. But the special sauce in this is Karina's...I must assume, fandom-trained ship-brain, like she just has such a deep knowledge of what makes characters compelling. Fully off to write a 100k fic about these two.

When I heard vandalism I just imagined Hunter desecrating gravestones, like she finishes up her funerals by scratching "by Hunter" or "I did this" on the back of the gravestones XD
You should do another two-person dynamic challenge but make it fantasy! Randomize two DnD characters. Are they friends? Lovers? Enemies? You decide
I'm immediately going home and making these two in the sims.
Hunter hires Sara to dance at the funerals she directs and spice them up, because no one likes her or her funerals, and she thinks Sara might help that. Both of them are pretending they have money, but when Sara discovers Hunter is poor like her, she's not even mad because they've grown to like each other so much. Also, by hanging out with her, Hunter becomes more likable.

idea: you choose two characters (from different shows or sum) and each of you has to draw a different step of their love story (meeting, first kiss, etc)
I've just started the video and I have to point put that Sara Pena is such a fitting name for this character because pena means pity in Spanish (it can also mean shame or be used to refer to someone who's bashful)

I’m two weeks late to this episode since it was in my watch later backlog, but these characters are sorta reminding me of Wednesday and Enid in the new Netflix series.
I feel like Sara Pena is the daughter of a CEO who, in her mind, she's no contact with since he won't support her dancing ambitions. But why she's hired for the occasional office party job as the first dancer (despite being unhelpful in getting everyone dancing because she's so intense no one feels like they can join in dancing) is because of her father hiring her for various corporate parties.
Hunter is actually pissed when she finds out about Sara's rich past because she feels like Sara is doing poverty tourism while Hunter is on her own and has debt that makes it impossible for her to imagine a future (especially with someone like Sara). While this is part of her anger, her real problem is now she feels like Sara is even more out of reach because what rich family would approve of someone like her for their daughter? It's impossible.
I feel like their song is Every Time We Touch by Cascada and i think sara enjoys dancing on table to it while hunter glooms underneath waiting to catch her
