  • Yoruba Movies 2015 new release this week.
Saworoide Full Movie by Tunde Kelani featuring Bukky Wright, Kunle Afolayan, Khabirat Khafidipe
LAPITE, the King-elect of JOGBO has decided to enrich himself on ascending the throne. He eliminates all opposition by sending hired killers or by harassing them into exile.
His rival ADEBOMI is killed and AYANGALU, the official drummer has escaped into exile. He takes a new wife and embarks on a massive exploitation of the enormous resources of forest trees.
Protests by the townspeople and the farmers are ruthlessly suppressed. In desperation, the youths march on the palace and seize the royal crown which by tradition must not leave the palace.
LAPITE in desperation seeks military help by engaging the mercenary LAGATA a retired military officer who however kills him and takes over his kingdom. Lagata who is now determined to become a proper king imposes an oppressive administration on the people. The mercenary usurper falls dead during the installation process in public view. The people have learnt a bitter lesson.

GOT is projecting the European culture. Africa's got culture too! A good culture-we should engage it, critique it and redeem it through the media. Kudos to Tunde Kelani, we need movies like this! m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2169473476423702&id=192351917469211

    6th June, 2024.
I’m watching this movie again and it feels very surreal….such a timely movie of alllll seasons. Perfectly captures the reality of our dear Nigerian state, year in, year out. Production was top notch, all the cast gave their A-game. Very few movies of present 2024 would come close in any way. I particularly miss watching PaAdebayoFaleti, PaAkinwumiIshola, PaLarindeAkinleye (Lord rest their souls) for their impeccable command of the Yoruba language, without missing a strong hold of English language as well. This movie holds timely lessons for both old and young alike an🎉d I highly recommend for anyone interested in knowing/learning the intricacies of politics, policies and “politricks” of our dear country, Nigeria.
I honestly wish Netflix could strike a deal of viewing rights with baba T.K for this movie, so a different crop of movie lovers, especially non-Nigerians could also witness the beauty that this movie will always be; that is, movie without an expiration date!

Watching this movie in 2020. What an epic movie. This is Nigeria of today.

Jimmy from Vawulence Space recommended this movie to depict the current situation in Nigeria, showcasing how Tinubu got into power without the support of the majority. The end justifies the means. You know what it means for a Yoruba 1999 movie to still speak volumes about Nigeria's current situation.. Peter Obi will reclaim his mandate and the well meaning Nigerian youths are gallantly behind him.
