    I have watched this film over and over again! Sometimes it feels so palpable as if Ajani and Asake were going to jump out of the film 😁 and start living.I have a slightly similar story .when I was going to marry my husband my mum was so much against the relationship promised to disown me if I did reported me to everyone she could possibly did . But I was more stubborn than Asake 😂 I just gained admission then and my husband lived in England but I have met him during his national service before he travelled .I have never loved any man cos I was in my final class in secondary school when I met him and he was a young graduate too.Glory to God we have been married for 14 years now our love blossoms everyday as in we are newly married. There are some people who are meant to be if you stop the plan their lives can never remain the same anymore. It's a great lesson to always hold on to your dreams and aspirations no matter what. My mum will often say that I am grateful to God that you refused to listen to me then

      I wish I can say otherwise, my parents were against my relationship, I was adamant but the *guy* messed up badly.
      My life has never been the same, still hoping to meet my *second love* if it really exist.
      Happy for you girl and continue to enjoy your marriage... it was meant to be.❤

    Tunde Kelani must surely be one of the best movie makers in Nigeria. This is the 3rd movie I have watched in the space of 24hrs and Oleku leaves me wanting more Kelani movies. If you'd like to get to know Nigeria and the true Yoruba culture, I recommend Tunde's films. I come from a very poor home and Oleku brought the picture to me all over again just as it was in the 70s. I love you man!

    Amazing classic, I first watched in 1998/1999 and two decades later, I still come back to watch. My favourite is Lola due to her taking chances but then getting disappointed by Ajani. Asake will have been ideal but she got brainwashed by her father. Sade came across as innocent and I think Ajani chose her because she was the least of the three that gave him grief. Brilliant storyline, acting, as well as lovely vintage fashion. 😊👍🏾

    This movie is nothing short of excellence! intriguing story, wonderful cast, and excellent production. How can I not be proud of my people ? Our Yoruba culture and language that we so take for granted once received breathtaking ratings by visiting westerners long ago.
    Alagba Tunde Kelani, a true Yoruba son, eku ise opolo o. May the good LORD continue to uphold you. Ase (Amen).

    Weldone Sir! I have been watching the oldies recently, can't just stop watching them because they taught more lessons than the new schools... This particular teaches varieties of lessons, e.g the power of love, parent not to dictate for their wards/children, morals, contentment etc. Thanks Daddy Tunde Kelani

    Shade is my favourite. Very calculative, focussed and knew how to achieve her objectives with excellent strategies while Lola was arrogant and pompous. Meanwhile, Asake was conservative, well cultured but couldnt match Shade's strategic plans. Thanks that the last part of the play was rewritten. Imagining the death of Ajani was a night mare but thanks to TK for the change in the scene. Very excellent.

    An epic Yoruba movie, full of suspense, hilarious, tactical & comical. The storyline is accurate & it is meant for those who knows how to play their game, i.e Shade! Asake was my favourite but brainwashed by her father. Lola somehow aggressive. Shade drew a strategic plan & she was lucky. Kudos to TK. Ajani i throw away salute

    Yoruba people have almost missed the opportunity to hold on to the good part of their culture and let go the undesirable ones. Adultrated foreing cultures, religions, and lack of functional education have played major roles in this dilemma. Thanks for the upload of this ever-green chartbuster.

    Kudos to TK for this excellent film. I must not disclose how many times I'v watched this film, or else, TK will sue me for over-watching. For example, during Xmas holiday, I watched it six times per day. It is the most effective anti-depression "tonic" for me here in South Africa.

  • @MarvellouslyHelpedKels
    @MarvellouslyHelpedKels 11 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    It's a tough one: they were different ladies with different characters that Ajani saw in them: Asake was the first love (homely and wife worthy), Lola was the distraction (good girl but in his 'class'), Sade was the young girl (naive and fresh) they had different characters. I feel Asake suffered the most though. If not for her father's dubious way she would have persevered and married Ajani.

    Sade was so cool headed,presentable,well-cultured and went for what she wanted with the help, support and tutelage of her parents.

    major thing i love about this movie is just the language which is 99% yoruba undiluted, i want more of it kind. I feel so sad for Asake, she still loves Ajani but only trying to form.

    • @tkooo8343
      @tkooo8343 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      "Trying to form"?? hmm maybe he shouldn't have 2-timed her. Some Yoruba/Nigerian men have built a lie about cheating in this manner being "our culture", not true, big difference between polygamy and inability to keep it in your pants.

    This is the best production from Mainframe . I cherished the Rich Yoruba culture and Language. The days when things were relatively comfortable and affordable with great hopes . The setting was in the early 60s to Mid 70s. Ajani and Asake were meant to be but Asake"s Father was too Strict because he desired Asake to study in the University.

    It is a very awesome movie to watch. The right choice of songs and the reflection of the 70s make me love this movie more. Kudos to TK. Wish other producers would produce more quality Yoruba movies like this and I can happily watch. However, the end part remains confusing whether Ajani died or not. I am really confused and the movie really touched me

      He died,they didn't complete it in the movie!In the novel,he died and Asake attended his burial and saw Shade.Shade was already pregnant,so Ashake told her that if she gives birth to a daughter she will make sure her daughter marries Ajani's son!

    Hmmmm,my takes:
    1) destiny didn't have Ajani and Asake together, that could not have been changed by anything
    2)May my daughter not fall for an Ajani, he is loyal to no one other than his selfish self. Dotun waited for Lola despite her cheating ass, just the thought of been taken for a ride Mr. Ajani took to his heels
    3) Fathers and their hot heads, Asake's mother was spineless, taking her stand would have saved the lovebirds pregnancy and ultimately their relationship, as a mother, play your part it goes beyond birthing and nurturing it involves warring and taking some wounds for your wards
    4) Sade's parents are what every parent should be to their wards, society will be better off
    Thoroughly enjoyed this, will be back someday in the future to take a refresher viewing, thanks to the cast and crew.

      I love your take on this. Ajani is the true representation of present day Yoruba Demon and his friends, Geng of "Iyawo wa".
      Asake was really patient but I prefer Lola's spirit.
