I am from Germany, i am traveling for almost 20yrs now mostly all around the world, wanted to live in the US too until i visited Bangkok. It's the city that fascinated me the most. Food, Nightlife, luxury lifestyle, kindness of the people, weather (besides rainy season). Bangkok has it all. And it's very affordable for a foreign visitor.
From Taipei here, will be flying to bkk next week. though been there a few times before, i find your vdo and recommendations neat and discover that there are still a lot places and food i have not tried. Thais' are one of most welcoming pleasant people on the planet. my family and friends would like to meet and thank you personally during my trip to bkk next week. keep it up. after bkkm maybe we can travel further.
For Westerners it feels like being a kid again because they are discovering the world around them for the first time again. So many new sights, sounds, tastes, smells. You can feel the buzzing energy of the city even more than NYC, endless activities, shopping, markets, malls, streetfood, nightlife, clubs, events, temples, floating markets, parks, variety of neighborhoods etc. Plus the increase in social interaction that they are experiencing for the first time. They are constantly meeting other Western travellers at hostels, on Khao San Road, sitting next to each other in Yaowarat road for dinner etc. Then the Thais are always smiling at them, joking with them, teasing them, interacting with them everywhere. It's not something that happens in the marjority of the Western world where people generally keep to themselves and don't interact with strangers. There's a feeling lightness when you get to SE Asia - like there are no rules, you can do what you want, the weather is so warm and you feel free for the first time in your life. The feeling of the rigidity of the West melts away - all the rules, Western etiquette, materialism, stress, social anxiety, status, laws, organization, focus on class, elitism etc goes away all of a sudden because SE Asians don't care about any of that so it is a shock to the system.
Bangkok is getting more and more mordernise. Is coming up to first world countries. Price wise compared to Singapore is much more cheaper. Food wise , you still keep the traditional food .and many things to see . I would love to stay in Bangkok , when I retire. All are good in all Thailand states . Only thing is bad now is the air pollution.

From Don Mueng airport, go to Ekkamai bus terminal (either by public transportation / taxi cab) . From Ekkamai you'll get direct buses to Pattaya.
