Thanks a bunch for this video!! My daughter always struggled to throw the flip change, as she was not able to get enough speed on it. It was too slow and not complimenting her fastball. The tips in your video worked great for about the first week or two with my daughter getting more speed out of her changeup. We later found that she got very good at whipping this pitch through the throw zone and became comfortable releasing off her ring finger. It was only taking about 5 miles off her fastball.
We since landed with a similar approach by using the same grip but "pushing" the circle of the grip through the throw zone, with the circle facing the catcher, with the palm facing down. She is starting to have a lot of success with this and gets some for drop action. Thanks again for this video!

Flip change is a joke and the easiest to take for a ride. Anything that drastically changed throwing mechanics is a joke! Dean Holoein has one of the best changes or Gerald Muzlaar

One thing you can do if you find the change up is getting too fast is raise the thump up to the side of the ball as opposed to behind the ball. That tends to take speed off.

So your grip for your change up is an L shape grip & for your drop pitch is almost like circle change up but you tuck in your pointing finger correct? How do you grip the ball for those 2 pitches?

The L is used to drill the pitch, we actually put the thumb on the side of the ball and tuck the pointer finger (which makes it look like a rise ball if someone is trying to pick you). For a peel drop, we hold it like a fastball, across 4 seams, and lead with the thumb to create 12-6 spin

yep, you invented that style of change-up! every time I've taught that over the last 15yrs I've always said your name.... wait, what's your name?

He didn't say he invented it . He just stated that he figured this out for himself . My risegrip is totally different from any other pitcher I have come across . Did invent the grip no! Just simply found something that worked for me .

I apologize if I said I invented it, but I did come up with it while messing around with different change ups (back when I was learning how to pitch there were not many pitching coaches). It is a lot like a circle change, I admit that, but changed a couple things so it would compliment the pitches I throw in games.
