Certainly not forgotten! I grew up in the 80s and 90s and my sister and I would watch the movie CLUE everyday during the summertime. We would close the blinds, turn off the lights and pump up the sound! It actually scared me when I was a kid and now that I’m older, I can really appreciate the humor and enjoy it more and more each time I watch it! Thanks for the behind the scenes info!
When I was little I used to rewind and replay that lady enthusiastically singing at the door and getting shot. 🎶 “I am, your singing telegram!” **BANG** 😹

What’s funny, is on their Smartless podcast, Jason Bateman routinely refers to all the times he’s called “Justin”, because of his sister Justine. And I always think, “What? That can’t be real. Who would make that mistake?” 🙄

Clue is a total cult classic. It is one of the most rewatchable movies ever made. It's out on 4K Blu-Ray. The transfer to 4K was done with the original negatives, and it looks great.
This was my movie growing up. My family was nuts about it. We used to tape ourselves on cassette acting it out, banging on window screens for the thunder effect.
I'm a member of The Junior Chamber of Commerce Players (JCCP) which is the official "Rocky Horror" shadowcast group for Pittsburgh, PA, and we've performed a full shadowcast of "Clue" a couple of times. It's one of those movies that actually lends itself to a shadowcast very well as it has a small cast of only 14 characters (plus a few random FBI agents and cops at the very end) and none of the characters change costumes throughout the movie. Unfortunately, it wasn't until recent years that performing a shadowcast for the movie became a bit more doable as Paramount had a reputation for sending cease-and-desist letters to various shadowcasts who were attempting to perform the show. I don't know if the powers that be have simple changed hands, or of someone realized that shadowcasts can actually increase ticket sales, but more and more shadowcasts have begun to perform "Clue" without problem in recent years.
I remember a bit back and forth the day i went out to see this movie with my parents, They wanted B, i wanted C. You had to PICK which ending you wanted and would get tickets for that ONE ending. We were at showing C. after that the TV version would include, at the end, a section that would say.... "OR IT COULD HAVE HAPPENED LIKE THIS!" and then would go to show the last 10 min of the movie with each ending, 3 times.
There were also a series of short novels aimed at kids, where a rich Mr. Boddy apparently gets murdered every time, and you're supposed to figure out whodunnit, except he lives to experience attempted murder another day. The thing I remember most was some food preparation scene, with Prof. Plum asking Col. Mustard what condiments he used, and the Colonel raging at Plum about how he 'didn't use any candy mints'. I actually did have the board game too, and would occasionally get a chance to play it. I had a similar game as well, 13 Dead-End Drive. Almost certainly a Clue knockoff of some sort.
No mention of the Psych Clue episode?! Lloyd and Warren starred in it. A great episode in one of the best tv shows ever. Tim Curry starred in my favorite Psych episode where he played one of the judges for a singing competition titled American Duos. Really funny and great appearance by Curry.
I absolutely love this movie. I have done since I first watched it in the late 80’s. I tend to watch it as part of a double bill with Haunted Honeymoon. Another spooky big house under appreciated comedy film
Totally missed opportunity to close with Michael McKean's unforgettable closing line: "I'm going home to sleep with my wife." "I told you I didn't do it!"
Also, the guy who played Mr. Body is the singer for the punk band Fear. And from what I've heard (I was a kid when this movie came out). Different theaters got different endings to the movie. So it confused people even more when they talked about it later on. People didn't know what ending was real.
I always think that is Susan Sarandon in Leslie Ann Warren's role. They look very similar.. Also check out "Murder by Death" which they had to use for inspiration. Eileen Brennan was actually in both movies.
There is a theater company doing a play based on Clue which is top notch! (I’m in the Midwest). They did a great job moving from room to room and Wadsworth is amazing!
This film has a perfect cast. I hope they all enjoyed the process of creating this gem. I'd hate to find out later from some tell-all that there was friction on the set.
Great video! I played the board game all the time when I was a kid, especially when dad was home from working construction when it rained. The only reason I can think of regarding why it didn't do well at the box office is because unless you played the game you wouldn't know a thing about what the movie was about. This movie is one of my favorites for sure, watch it often!
I've never forgotten this, and i own a copy. Loved it as a kid and still as an adult. Try Murder by Death, of which is a spoof involving most, if not all, famous detective characters.
Watch your channel faithfully, but have to say most of these things most people do know. Still. Keep up the good work. The alternate endings was to reflect true game play: who knows how it will turn out? It would have been great to know how and why Mr. Boddy, Yvette's and Wadsworth's character came to be since not in the game. PART 2!
I love clue so much. If you’d like a similar movie, check out its predecessor “Murder By Death” based on Neil Simon’s play. It also stars Eileen Brennen as well as Peter Faulk, Maggie Smith, James Cromwell, Nancy Walker AND Sir Alec Guinness.
It would have been awesome if they filmed several different endings with different killers and send rolls randomly chosen to theaters so everyone has a different idea of the ending now that would be some of fun family nights lol
Always thought it was amusing that Mr. Boddy was played by punk rock singer, Lee Ving, from the band, FEAR. If you have no idea who FEAR is, look them up on TH-cam and you will be heavily amused. They were John Belushi's favorite band. :-) He even got them to play on SNL... ONCE. If you watch the performance, you will understand why. lol
I really enjoyed this movie as a kid. I couldn't really fully understand EVERYTHING that was happening, but I knew 2 things: I liked the game Yvette was hot
I liked this movie so much, I made an one-person recreation of many of the movie's scenes. Although I did have to change a few things, like not having enough room to drop the candle stick from the door lintel. Instead, I as Wadsworth stomp my feet while saying "I'm not shouting", and turn slightly, banging my crotch against the door, then faint. I also added a few extended scenes, such as "Flames, Flames", where Mrs. White explains it is how she got rid of that husband. But she did keep her favorite part. I also give a bit of back story to the characters, such as Wadsworth having earlier meet a certain Brad Majors, and Janet Weiss. Professor Plum, is also a "Doc" of Space-Time computations, he says "Great Scott" a lot, and I hint that he meets a certain Marty McFly in about a year. It started out as a review of the movie, but turned into; "Clue: The Movie, Review, Reactions & Recreations". Another enjoyable thing to watch is "Who Done It: The Clue Documentary" which is free here on TH-cam at least for the USA. I preordered the DVD when it was released. In it the director reads the original 4th ending from the storybook novelization, and it is partly animated, as the credits role.
Minty, I love these videos, keep them up! BUT, HIS NAME IS JASON BATEMAN, not JUSTIN. His sister is the actress Justine Bateman, from Family Ties. You have called him Justin Bateman in a few videos now... ❤😂
I remember hearing the "only movie with 4 different endings" advertising for Clue on the radio when it was in theatres. Seeing it on HBO, they put all the endings together with title cards between them like "here's what could have happened..." and "here's what really happened...".. I know this is a re-upload/nose, but I suggest if you have not seen it please review _Murder By Death_ from 1976. It's almost the same movie, in that a comedy with a bunch of characters stuck in a mansion trying to solve a murder. In this movie, they are parodies of characters in detective novels and movies, i.e. Peter Sellers = Charlie Chan, Pater Falk = Sam Spade, David Niven and Maggie Smith = Dick and Nora Charles, etc. I think it's a better movie than Clue would love to learn 10 new things about that one!
You rock but let me give you one more thing. The reason John Landis went to Anthony Perkins and Stephen Sondheim was that in 1973 they wrote a nasty whodunit favorite of mine called "The Last of Sheila". Check it out. Shout out to Debra Hill who, like Stanley Kubrick, passed away on my birthday.
Anthony Perkins also co-wrote The Last Of Sheila (1973) with Richard Benjamin & many (as James Colburn, James Mason, Dyan Cannon, Raquel Welch, Ian McShane & others).
"I hated her SO much... Flames on the sides of my face." Apparently, Madeline Kahn improvised that line, and her cast mates look notably confused.
One of my all time favorite deliveries tho. The hate was so deep she couldn’t comprehensively explain it 😂

This movie was taken heavily from another movie, Murder by Death, from 1976. Eileen Brennan was in both movies.
:) The movie I feel in love with Colleen Camp! Wow!!
Also You said Justin Batmen, Whoops it's Jason Bateman. But he does look more like a Justin. ;)
One of my absolute favourite movies
Anthony Perkins also co-wrote The Last Of Sheila (1973) with Richard Benjamin & many (as James Colburn, James Mason, Dyan Cannon, Raquel Welch, Ian McShane & others).
Should someone see Clue ?
- Collen Camp (Yvette) 100%
- The rest of the cast 100%
- The hilarious scenario 100%
So, yes, you should see Clue 300%
This is one my wife’s favorites!! We watched it just the other day and played the game too🎉
