    I can’t quite remember over a year ago when I was diagnosed with hydrogen dominant SIBO but I don’t think I had diarrhea often, but I also don’t think my case is severe compared to other people. Maybe I caught it at the start of it developing because I’m one of those people who pay attention and notice when my equilibrium is off, so to speak. My main annoying symptoms were the uncomfortable abdominal bloating, sometimes intense nausea causing retching and maybe vomiting, and when it wasn’t so bad as that, I would get burping that didn’t seem to stop, probably after certain foods. I’m guessing now I am more educated about the condition, that they were the more fermentable foods. Cucumber seems to set me off even now. And my beloved celery and cilantro juice which I would think would be gut healing is not for me. I did follow the super restrictive SIBO diet for 3 months last year and most of my symptoms have gone. But now that I have allowed sugar, dairy, gluten and processed foods back into my life, occasionally the bloating and burps have come back. This week I am planning to go back onto the diet for several months and then be careful about what I eat. Sorry ice cream - tummy does not like you. I will be eating a lot of arugula and carrots for sure. I invented a tomato based meatball soup last year that filled me up and was really good. The husband is going to have to learn to fend for himself since he doesn’t really like healthy eating.

      Oh, I did also have the debilitating fatigue and brain fog for sure. Used to have to have long naps in the afternoon if I wasn’t working that day. Now I can do my stretching exercises, yoga and walk the dog almost every day with no problem. My naturopath recommended Atrantil which has helped when symptoms appear. One thing I started trying recently is cbd oil. Maybe it will further help my gut to heal. I also feel much better when I stick to intermittent fasting, usually one meal a day. Also means I have to worry about less food prep and shopping.

    Which came first... The SIBO or my THYROID Condition?
    THYROID is a secondary reaction to root issue.
    I'm convinced I started with LEAKY GUT years ago and mild thyroid symptoms (end of eyebrows fading) many years agp but my T4 and T4 TSH numbers were fine!!

    Ceylon cinnamon is different than cassia which is called cinnamon as well in many places including the US. I believe true Ceylon cinnamon is not hot but I could be wrong. They are very different so a clarification as which one is used would be appreciated.

    Can sibo be treated with antibiotics through iv? I'm worried pills will flare my gastritis too.

    • @TheHealthyGuts
      @TheHealthyGuts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The antibiotic prescribed for SIBO (rifaximin) is a tablet and is specifically designed to mostly stay in the small intestine, where the bacterial overgrowth is. An IV antibiotic would affect the whole body so would kill bacteria everywhere, not just in the SI. Working with a skilled SIBO doc who also understands gastritis would be important.

    I always thought I had SIBO cos I was on antibiotics back in 2013 due to a car accident I involved in, I abused them after, lately my symptoms gotten worse, Some doctors are clueless, at first he said it’s IBS suggested FODMAP, then I persisted asked him to write me all the tests like, pancreatic, celiac, thyroid, metabolic, liver etc then I asked him to write for SIBO and also CT scan of my whole gut, before I got the CT done SIBO results came out I am positive, It took 7 months to figure it out after my relentless pursuit of numerous tests. Now I am worried if my doc actually knows how to interpret those results correctly and what if the machine didn’t give me accurate results! Doc says it’s hydrogen SIBO, I asked about methane levels, he says it’s base start is at 8 which is a little higher than usual. I am confused how to approach my treatment, any help is appreciated!

      @MsJordanaIsabel 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheHealthyGuts Wow! Thank you so much for your quick reply. 😍 I’m using the FoodMarble Air 2 so the conversion isn’t available to non-healthcare providers, but from some Reddit research and according to Dr. Davis, respectively, methane converts by 4.4 and hydrogen by 5, so:
      Methane 2.5 (x 4.4) = 11ppm
      Hydrogen 7.9 (x5) = 39.5ppm
      These were my highest scores. 😅 Scary hydrogen.

    • @TheHealthyGuts
      @TheHealthyGuts  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MsJordanaIsabel I would actually considered that low hydrogen. Many of my clients have readings over 100ppm for both hydrogen and methane. Greetings from Russia!!!
    Some good things about hydrogen sulfide...
    Stalin was greatly disturbed by pain in the joints of the arms and legs. He believed that it was rheumatism, which he "earned" during his four-year exile to Eastern Siberia. The hydrogen sulfide waters of the vicinity of Matsesta (Sochi) helped Stalin, and the pains practically disappeared. So Stalin had a dacha on Matsesta, and on the Agura River the first structures providing hydrogen sulfide water to the Soviet leader. Later, public concrete fonts and uncomplicated infrastructure necessary for the treatment of people appeared on Agura.
    The number of those suffering from healing grew, but the debit of Agura's hydrogen sulfide source was small. As a result, a new source of hydrogen sulfide water was discovered on the Matsesta River with a higher debit.
    Nevertheless, the half-abandoned and dilapidated infrastructure of the hydrogen sulfide sources of the Agura River continues to be popular.

    Does SIBO cause malnutrition or decreased absorption of nutrients from food? I’m trying to get pregnant but just tested positive to hydrogen dominant SIbO. Is SIbO correlated with malnourished babies or autism or any negative outcome?

    • @TheHealthyGuts
      @TheHealthyGuts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, SIBO can reduce the nutrients, vitamins and minerals we are able to absorb through food. I don’t believe there are any studies linking malnourished babies and/or autism to SIBO. The foetus will always be prioritised from a nutrient perspective but women often want to clear their SIBO prior to conceiving so they’re in the best health for the pregnancy, not to mention not having to deal with SIBO symptoms while also pregnant!
