You're in for an amazing journey, this show has one of the best character developments I've seen after mob, the way this shows portray it's theme is amazing and you'll just love what thorfinn will become in season 2, season 2 was honestly so good, so just enjoy this show and keep the reactions coming❤️
I have watched so many fighting animes and the main stream once.. I didn't liked s2 because I was waiting to see some action after watching s1. It was like thorfinn could fuck those people any second but it got all peaceful.
@@carnage3003ur probz pretty young so I’m not gonna try explain things to you too much. But the story has never been about the fighting, Thors ideals of what a “true warrior” should be are shown within the first few episodes, he saves a slave, tries to convey his ideology to thorfinn (“you have no enemies”) and then in his fight with askeladd he admits that he isn’t a true warrior because he had to rely on his sword. The hints for what this series is actually about were shown very obviously in the beginning.

The historical accuracy for dates and names in this show are what i love the most. Glad you caught Leaf. You can google any of the dates they show you for viking campaigns, and no matter how far fetch this show makes it seem, history will say that's it actually went down.
This show has a lot that's not accurate at all, starting with actual Thorfinn. He had zero historical involvement in what happens in the first 2 seasons

If you look it up the character of Thorkell is 7'7". A true giant

Interesting thing is how these characters are named after real historical figures. Leif Erickson was a real life explorer. And so was Thorfinn. Vinland was the name the Vikings gave to the continent that would later be called North America.
Indeed this was after colonising Greenland. It all went wrong due to the black death wiping out over half of Europe followed by the mini ice age in the 1300 s, it was impossible to get supplies to the colonies and they died off over a few hundred years.

Fun fact: the reason it’s called Vinland is because it was rich in grapes that could be made into wine. Vinland means Land of Wine (Norse word for wine is Vin which comes from the Latin Vinum)
I don't want to sound to sappy but this series is a life changing experience. Probably up there as one of the best written epics off all time and is my personal favorite. Hope you enjoy the Journey!

Vinland saga is rooted in historical events and characters which happened in and around the uk and the Scandinavian countries, we covered. Lot of these events in history classes when i was young.
Started showing this to my mum recently, she's loving it because this is a show pretty much anyone can enjoy. The history of the real world this show covers is so impressive. Enjoy the journey :)
Vinland is one of the best anime ever. Literally.
Vinland is Newfoundland in Canada. The vikings (namely Leif Erikson) found it first, left, and after that it was "discovered" by the Italian explorer John Cabot almost 500 years later

Vinland Saga is amazing! One of my favorite stories I've had the pleasure to watch and read. It's hard to put into words how it's helped me in my life. As for your question at the beginning Jack, the manga is still ongoing but it's in its final arc.

I am so happy you decided to watch Vinland Saga! That show is seriously very special in it´s way of portraying the struggle of everyday people and questioning morality etc.
I know you are a very emphatetic person and you take note of small details, so I can see that this show spoke to you.
Please definitely take note and take the calm moments of this show serious as well because the create such a beautiful, indricate atmosphere (and oftentimes are important later on and for character development as well). You will see more of that in Season 2.
I acutally was so hooked by Vinland Saga that I watched the show 11 times by now (2 on my own and the rest with reaction channels) and I am more than ready to dive into it again.

Here is som nice facts. Im from one of the countrys in this world Sweden, wich had many famous Vikings and Uppsala a big city here was a very important place for Vikings. During this series you there will be many vikings that was famous in real life. And i believe that the story about how they "find" Vinland is also part real.

Naming traditions often come from religion, using Thor in the name instills the idea of strength, having son in the name usually means son of. The tradition of family names come from professions like smith, carter etc. a lot of places in England are named after the various invaders, including the romans, saxons, angles And danes/ vikings. One of the best in character study and development story.
Vinland saga is a historically accurate show. Vinland was what the norse called america, it was somewhere around Newfoundland. Leif as you know was famous as the guy who discovered it. Thorkell (the guy on the ship) was real and is really accurate as Thorkell was as huge as in the show (7'7 if i remember correctlly). Even Thorfinn was a real person but he was known as a explorer. The only thing is they changed Thors' name, his name was actually Thord, and i think he wasn't as famous as he was in the show, only know as Thorfinn's dad
