I am a 65 year old, retired American cancer survivor and I never miss an episode! Regarding the brake lines, why not have new ones made (or use the existing lines) and have them powder coated. I am restoring my 2001 C200 Kompressor and I have been sand blasting and powder coating all of my metal parts for years (and always like you reinstall with new bolts, washers and nuts), as long as the heat doesn't exceed 225 F / 110 C degrees. I love your channel and especially the 512 BBI! Keep up the great work! My favorite youtube channel!!!
Yep agree with this - love the content but the constant product placement spoilt it that I didn’t watch to the end - totally appreciate sponsors are key in this business though
God, I love this rebuild! A truly beautiful, rare Ferrari, lovingly being restored by an amazingly passionate, highly knowledgeable and skilled expert, who insists that every last nut and bolt be correct and perfect. And if that wasn't enough, it's all delivered to us, the eager viewers, in the most engaging, interesting and entertaining way possible! Scott, you deserve your own TV show to showcase your talents with these classic Ferraris. It would be a damn site better than 99% of the dross currently being shown!
I'm a 'Cuda Vert guy, but, your BBI was stunning the day you bought it. It is a car I could appreciate on day 1. This car does deserve the minutiae attention you are piling on it and I do love the process of you giving the love and attention this car truly deserves. Good job.
I'll admit, I didn't think much of the BBi's looks when you first picked it up. I was still excited for the project though. Since the front end has been rebuilt, it's grown on me. It's quite the looker. Hope you're ready for the last 10% of the work to take 90% of the time!
I rebuilt a Husqvarna adventure bike last year and feel your pain on finding the nuts and bolts along with the brackets. Given the work you have put into this, plus rebuilding a couple of other cars, I am impressed that you have it all going so well. Looking forward to following the process to completion. A 512 was the first Ferrari I ever drove. You'll love it.
I did a bit of resto on a mini and I found that taking pictures beforehand and then separating the bolts and bits into their respective bins made a huge difference when putting it back together. I had about 200 plastics bags but they were all labeled, made it really easy and fast.
I am surprised that Ferrari are not paying you to do this. What a perfect job and a total delight to watch every second of it. Thanks. I hope to see this car at some point in the future. Any plans to display it?
Given how good this looks, and the fact it's been a nut and bolt restoration, I do hope you're planning on taking it to a few shows before parting with it.
@@stoneman8110 he already has lol. His lack of organization when he took the car apart really surprises me. He's really paying the price for it now unfortunately. I'm rooting for him but I'm somewhat skeptical this car will ever be together.
Seeing a car of this rarity and worth being assembled in a tiny garage and on some garden bench with so much passion instead of a shiny bling bling Ferrari workshop makes this channel heartwarming fascinating… 👍👍👍👍
What an amazing journey. From pining for something that you weren't sure you'd be able to acquire, to getting it, to this incredible transformation. I hope you do some sort of profit analysis on this one similar to the Scud. My guess is that you've created tremendous value in this car from its beginning.
Did a full nut/bolt restoration on a 72 triumph t150v a few years back, I sent every piece and bracket to Cadmium plating in one bucket and it was a nightmare sorting through to find the correct pieces for everything after, I can’t imagine how much more you have for an entire car. One bit of advice I got after I was doing it was to lay the nuts and bolts on a xerox and then label it on the paper after the copy is made. I didn’t have a xerox in my garage so I couldn’t do it but it could be helpful to you in the future for a time saver.
You have made this car a masterpiece! I truly hope you and the family get to enjoy it together before it passes on to fund your other projects. I so glad I've followed you on this quest! Aloha!
Beautiful attention to detaul. Cleaned, repaired and looking as if it has just come from the factory. Looking forward to the next video. Keep up the great rebuild
What a journey this has been. It's been fascinating. Can't wait for you to take that first drive in it after the HUGE amount of work you've both put in.
TH-cam has completely changed my entire reality of a Ferrari. When I was a kid on the 90s with the F40 on my wall, I had Ferrari on this unattainable pedestal.. like it was this perfect machine that could only be touched with white gloves. Guys like this man have shown me that the difference is minimal between working on my Acura Integra or Civic in the driveway and a Ferrari. It's just a machine with its own unique quirks.. its not some mythical God like creature and that is pretty cool 😎
Thanks buddy that was always my plan to show they are just a car like any other but with a fancy badge. It has mean that demystifying this stigma has lead to many of my viewers being able to buy and attain their dream car and not worry so much able maintaining them or not using them.... its just a car
When you go to install the lower valance, set it in the sun for an hour and leave the car in he shade in the garage. The lower valance will expand slightly and the front car will “shrink” in the shade and that lower valence will slide right into place. Did this with my 308 and it was easy as could be.
I’m guessing that’s probably a PVF (Poly Vinyl Fluorine) coating or an epoxy coating of some sort. I can’t find that exact color in the PVF coated lines though so I’d probably just coat any line you find in a matching grey epoxy to get the look you’re after.
Scott, 2 things: I'm not sure what you were referring it by "hitting breaking point" in the title, but I've NEVER seen you hit a breaking point in any of your builds! And 2nd, when you started putting the pedal box in, my first thought was "WRONG SIDE OF THE CAR!" (hey, it's early Saturday morning here in the states). Having SO MUCH FUN following your resto of this amazing car. Give Own a high-five for all the work he's doing!
OMG Scott, you are probably almost verging on being certifiable! My wife is a psychiatrist and she thinks you need therapy! I don't though as I have also been diagnosed as being 'Ferrari mad'... I love that you are bringing this beautiful (and rare) car back to life. When you are finally finished it will probably be the best 512 BBi in the world! Will be worth at least £400K. It's been a blast watching the whole story so far, I wish you the best with the rest! Cheers from a slightly damp Otford, Kent.
Coming along Great Scott. Wish could help with the brake line. All I can imagine is a PFV coated brake line that's light gray instead of the typical dark gray or green. I can see maybe applying the correct color shrink over standard brake line to get the right look. Also I hope you can get better sponsors than Tem00 though.. *shudder*.......
I reckon you're going to have to use aerospace procedure and mark ALL fasteners that are tightened/torqued as you go (with a blob of something you can easily pick off when it's finished). ETA >> should of said though, this is a blinding project, one the best I've ever seen on YT.
I have really enjoyed watching the rebuild of this older 512 I have no idea about Ferrari's and I live in the Canadian Northwest so seeing any old Ferrari is either a paperweight or completely restored and very expensive so it's quite unique and you know like the one that's sitting in your driveway I mean it's cool don't get me wrong but seem as old one I think it's so much better cuz it's vintage it's it's heritage and history keep up the good work I'm excited to see it roar.

Been looking forward to the rebuild of the BBi . Do you not take photos when you are stripping down the car? I make videos on watch repair and when I am taking a watch movement apart that I am not familier with I photo everything. I know its less parts but its a way to look back. Especially when you have special fasteneers and springs. You are bound to have some left at the end of the build and that, for me at least, would turn me inside out wondering where they are supposted to go!

I hope to see you and your white beauty soon when you go for a road trip trough Belgium, maybe doing some laps on the Zolder circuit. Thank you for keeping us up to date with you videos !

So satisfying seeing this project come together. Hope you make bags of $$$ on it! 😁 It’d be well deserved! Turning into one amazing example of this car!
It's grey electrical heat-shrink sleeving. A couple of Fords (from back in the day) used to have this on problem areas where water spray used to collect on the brake pipes, in particular around the chassis legs before they entered the wheel arches. You have an amazing brain mate. To remember every bolt and sort everything out, does not look easy.
Over the years I've discovered that the best way to figure out what goes in where and when is to do it twice or maybe three times.

The lower valance will expand slightly and the front car will “shrink” in the shade and that lower valence will slide right into place. Did this with my 308 and it was easy as could be.
