Mate what a day!! Gutted I missed it, but it looked an exhausting one! No chance I would want to do that on the HT 🤣 "What have you done Jenvey?" 🤣🤣 So many parts that made me laugh, the outro is your best yet! In fact, I actually think this is my favourite video you have pulled together! Fantastic video, day, and laughter!! The intro is still making me laugh 🤣🤣 Surprised I could see you with camo on 🙈
Thanks mate, a shame you couldn’t make it but you would have hated it on a hardtail; every trail is way rockier than it looks on camera. I didn’t plan the Jenvey comment but as soon as I said Satan, I remembered that he is the dark lord 🤣 Funnily enough, had it rained, I would have had to put my jacket on, a camouflage one. Is Double Camo as bad as Double Denim? 🤣
Enjoyed that Jock - laughed at you falling off obviously and the trail run stuff, nervously, I've got my first Ultra Marathon in September - only 75k and a 'bit' lumpy!
Cheers Woody. Good luck for the ultra marathon, they sound like an insane amount of effort. Funnily enough, we got chatting to a few of the runners; one even asked if he could get a ciggy off us as he couldn't wait until the end - he ran off smoking, looking chuffed to bits 😂
What an amazing looking day mate. Almost looks like up in the alps in places, great looking trails too. I think it was a good plan to leave the hard tail at home 😉
Really was a fantastic day, even with the drizzle (off camera and to be honest when we needed it) and the crash. The only way I would take a hardtail would be if I had absolutely no choice in the matter, and it would be a way slower (and more painful/exhausting) ride 😃
I did tell Phil about this one before you went; I did tell him not to take hardtails to Garburn too 😂 It's definitely a better way down although it's still brutal, just in a different way. The exposure at the top is something else, makes Worlds End look like nothing.
@@Stopadoodledoo to be fair it was the only bike I had that weekend so I was forced into it! Still lesson learnt!! 😂😂😂 Will be giving this one a go next time for sure altho you sayings the exposure is worse than worlds end! 🤢
@@Stopadoodledoo to be honest I'm a sucker for a hike a bike, rewards are immense in the lakes. But yeah - not the worst, especially as you didnt top out the first hillside
@@KevIsOffGrid Not overly keen on the top of Sticks; was ok before they sanitised the top section but it never seemed worth the slog up the Zig Zags really.
Definitely one of the best Shona, full on concentration needed top to bottom and as on this day it was our first descent, it was one hell of a 'warm up' 😃
……a lot of puffing and blowing there mate , you were glad of those “gate breaks” lol 😅…….all jokes aside Amazing trails and you can tell how many parts of those trails are rough arsed , cos we all know how good a rider you are 👍👍
Absolutely ace video mate, ace day although a little bit scary at times😬, you make it look a lot easier than it actually is (for me anyway)🤣 i'm obviously not hardcore enough, i'll stick to my shandy 🤣🤣. Joking aside, i really did love this ride, probably the best ride i've had in the lakes, mixed emotions but totally exhilarating, my arms are still battered from that last descent, trail of the day for sure 👍
Thanks mate, it's definitely one brutal ride from a physical perspective but so damned good; I knew you would love it (and hate it in equal measures - especially because of the exposure 😂). My upper body was rinsed, legs were fine; rode today and they felt spot on 👍
Thanks mate. It's Boredale Hause; trail splits with the footpath running below the bridleway. Having ridden both now, I can confirm the bridleway is better; steeper, a bit rougher but better 👍
One of these days I will get you up there for a ride mate, if not this one then something just as, erm, physical/challenging/exhausting/exhilerating (and no, I didn't use ChatGPT to respond 😂)
I kind of got lucky with the crash as I rolled, do so without thinking nowadays as I have had so much practice 🤣. Bit bruised but nothing of note really. That trail is definitely the best one on Helvellyn, the exposure is real though!! Second descent on the other side of the valley is incredible too, be hard pushed to say which one is better
Thanks mate. I don’t really use Strava nowadays as I ride a lot of cheeky stuff and don’t want to upset people by giving too much away. Saying that, this ride is on my Strava from a few years ago. Search for Stopadoodledoo on there, search my activities for Angle Tarn or Boredale Hause and you will be able to find it. Amongst the many hundreds of commute rides, there’s a fair bit on there from the Lakes, Hebden Bridge, North Wales and Shropshire (never really recorded the really cheeky stuff though)
Someone nicked half your tent mate!!😂 Graded by Satan😂 I only watch for the commentary! 😂 Curse those noisy brakes for making you fall off! Bad brakes.
The first trail is the one we finished on when we did our Lakes trip (although you missed it due to your unplanned bicycle pub crawl; second is the one we did on the first night, they were ‘fixing’ the last bit (it’s where Bren crashed into the bags full of rocks multiple times). If you watched rather than just listening to the commentary, you would know that Tatty 🤣
Great riding. I know those trails well and it's a tragedy that the true brutality of them doesn't show on the GoPro! The bracken has really grown up around here over the past couple of weeks and it's starting to give some interesting visibility challenges to add to the massive rocks, loose stones and drop offs...
Thanks mate. The bracken made the bottom of the first unnamed descent a bit of a challenge to see where we were going but other than that, wasn't too bad really. We rode Lingmoor Fell (near Ambleside) in the summer a couple of years ago and the bracken was so thick and high, you literally couldn't see the trail - that was interesting. GoPro really doesn't show the trails for what they are and I guess if anyone was to go off a video of them, they may be in for a surprise. I think Marc was slightly taken aback by them; nothing crazy but they are just relentless.
Looks great.
Thanks mate, it really is. Tough ride but so rewarding!
Great video as always! Fantastic ride!
Thanks mate, this ride is one of my favourites for good reason. Brutal, tiring but so damned good. Could hardly move my arms the next day 🤣
