Really great to see you spending the time with your grandson, and putting off the pond fix until later. You truly have your priorities in order!!!!! It brings back memories of the times I spent fishing with my grandsons. The memories will be forever, and are the truly the important things in life. God bless,Bob
Good afternoon Brock. I'm running a little late today. I really don't know a thing about building a Coi Pond but at my age I believe that I know something about people. First off, your work ethic is beyond reproach, second your approach to life is amazing. Your relationship with your Grandson warms my heart because it reminds me of my relationship with my oldest Grandson who now is married to a wonderful woman and has two daughters that are amazing. Yes, I'm a Greatgrandfather. Personally I believe that I was an amazing Grandfather and Father too. 😁🙂 I just want to tell you that anyone that will drop what they're doing to take your Grandson fishing and be out at midnight to finish the job you started is a great man. He will remember these days with love and respect for you. God bless you and your family. Get some sleep and have a wonderful day tomorrow. 👍👍🙂
Grandkids are great for developing patience. And patience is a great thing to have when you accidentally hit a pipe with the tractor bucket. When I was younger, that might have resulted in a dose of cursing and breaking more things that I would later have to fix. Now, I've got that under control for the most part. With anger no longer a real issue, I now have to work on carelessness. At my age, that's a lot harder than it looks! Carelessness, forgetfulness, it all seems to blend together. I make mistakes. Probably always will. I can live with that. Great video, Brock! It's great to see you interact with your grandson.
Howdy Brock! After you set that second rock and I saw you going for that first bucket of dirt I thought uh-oh... that looks close to the water line... lol! Gotta tell ya, every improvement you make to that pond is perfect! I ever put a pond in I'll bring you on as a consultant! Great job being a grandpa - you are a Brockstar! 🤠
Hey Brock. Keep up the good work. The straps are definitely the move, Way more control. They are a bit of a pain to get out once its placed but its worth it. Just keep the straps near the edges. Looks good! Anywhere you are filling between rocks with dirt, I would try to use the river rocks. Keeps the dirt further from the pond edge.
Hey Brock . Your Koi pond is shaping up nicely... if you have any questions or concerns about safety regarding electrical shock hazards around the area of the pond equipment . Pools and ponds present profound saftey issues that must be addressed during the equipment wiring . Pay special attention to the grounding and bonding methods of all your equipment . pc ( The Michigan Electrician)
try cheddar cheese and bread mashed up into a doe ball, get one of those treble hooks with the spring on it. catfish will go for it. its always a decent backup bait
I have read that barley straw (not barley hay) keeps algae from blooming. It will not however kill existing algae. If you decide to use something to kill the alae. Only do a portion of the pond at a time. If you spray and kill it all at once. The amount you have could cause an oxygen depletion and a fish kill. Good luck! Slice hot dogs. Put them in a sandwich bag and salt the heck out of them. Try that for your catfish. Make sure to keep the hot dogs good and cold. They stay on the hook better. When warm they fall off easy.
Brock, Do the first have anything in the pond to get under for a shade? I have always heard that fish do not have eyelids so the sun really bother them. I know that when you catch fish it seems to be out of a shade. Just a thought might get them a shade.. I never messed with a Coi pond but thought you might research a bit on that. Good job..

You look great for having a 6 year old grandson! It must be all the hard work keeping you young.
I think if you could use stainless steel hose clamps you shouldn't have any issues Brock. The pond is looking great.
A little work now, but many years worth of enjoyment to come!
Little pond looks good. As far as catfish I've used hotdogs and gold fish and had good results. I've caught bass with hotdogs too.

Goldie Fish is a good name. Our kids once named a fish "Pepperoni Shirt". 🤷♂

Morning Brock, I've always had great success catching big catfish on raw shrimp. You should give that a try. Bill Hensley..
