Perform should be mempersembahkan right? Because the context is a performance and not perform something like prayers.
Yes I truly agree it's all depends on the phrase... in this case it think persembahan is the correct term. As clip explaining stage performance.

the word 'perform' that they were talking about at 6:23 is regarding 'stage performance' and the topic is about chinese arts and culture. Hence the malay equivalent to something that is performed on stage is called 'persembahan' the guy is actually correct ya.

I dont think in malay we would say that as ‘kanak-kanak itu mengerjakan tarian kebudayaan cina di atas pentas’. And emphasis again that at 6:23 they were specifically talking about stage performance. Hence, ‘kanak-kanak itu mempersembahkan tarian kebudayaan cina di atas pentas’ is better suited in this context.

@@MuhammadAminuddinZulkifli @MuhammadAminuddinZulkifli well, you didnt say 'mempamerkan' in your first comment, why the sudden add on?. have a look at BERITA Mediacorp SGKini 4 ogos 2024, exactly at 5:03 minutes by Nazirah Jamzuri, she used the word 'mempersembahkan' to describe a band performing on stage, this is one out of many other example out there coveyed in SG national malay news agency. i agree for the word 'mempamerkan' but not for the word melaksanakan/mengerjakan for stage performance. based on kamus dewan bahasa dan pustaka edisi keempat, the word 'persembahan/mempersembahkan' literally defines it with 'pementasan/pertunjukkan' while the word melaksanakan/mengerjakan has none. so when it comes to suitability or usage i still think persembahan is correct out of the many other synonyms out there (and melaksanakan/mengerjakan is not one of its synonyms btw.). hence, the guy in this video deserve his justice to have that money.

The other type sentences is like mengerjakan /melakukan umrah (perform pilgrimage) then it correct to use perform as mengerjakan.

@@aidasunny3685 yes totally agree 'persembahan' is actually correct. the word perform in english can be used differently depending on context, same to its malay counterpart the word perform can be translated to both 'persembahan' as for stage performance, or 'mengerjakan/melaksanakan/melakukan' for things related to task. and the topic in the video clearly speaks about chinese arts and culture which they define at 6:23, hence the malay word 'persembahan' is actually more accurately describing the word 'perform'.
