Here's what I say being in the senior years. Fill each day with Quality things (experiences, things you enjoy to do) and reduce or eliminate things that you don't enjoy to do. We have less days/ hours going forward then we have behind us, so wake up and stop wasting them. Enjoy yourself and bring enjoy to the people around you. Thanks Boss.
Pushing 71, here, Doug. I am doing the same thing. I enjoy myself everyday. Not continually, from dawn to dusk, but I make sure I do something enjoyable every single day.

As the nomad guy Bob Wells says, die with memories, not dreams. It sucks to get old. I am 63 now and retired so I'll go until I drop but no more doctors. I soon hit the road in my RV van to see as much of the USA as possible. Take care and have fun.

Both myself and my other half have been dealing with cancer I was lucky and caught it in the early stages thankfully am completely cancer free my other half goes into surgery and the outcome should also be good news. Hey boss! I agree with what you said about losing interest in things you used to enjoy in your younger years. My dad will be 70 on Saturday. As a kid growing up I saw him living and breathing hunting and fishing, teaming his oxen and cutting wood and just doing stuff he enjoyed. In the past 20 years he's slowly gotten away from almost all of his hobbies. It worries me that I'm gonna lose my interests as well, I'll be 50 in August. I still love hunting and fishing but its getting harder to find hunting spots that's not already being hunted. I do have to somehow get away from working so much. I sure hope you're gonna be ok with your health issues. Have a great time with your brother.
I'LL be 80 in 2 months and it sounds old but it's not really a time to slow down. The things I can no longer do don't really matter, because I still have enough things to do that I enjoy. You see as you get older you can do some things that you didn't have patience for. I just love life and it's full of Gods gifts and they are free. Just getting up in the morning and taking a deep breath on the back porch is a gift of pure air and birds and squirrels running around and chattering, the rustle of the leaves as the breeze says hello. I could go on but you know what I mean. Love all your video's my friend, I hope all will be good for you and praying for your health. You are a rich man, you have a good partner and a great pup, and most of all you have faith in the Lord, those are things that money can't buy but when you have them you have as much or more the richest on earth. I hear ya on getting older. Im 66 and busy skinning beaver today. Not the man I used to be for sure. Take it a day at a time and enjoy life. Praying your health gets better. Always enjoy your videos.
I hear very often “I wish I could do what you’re doing, but I am too old now.” “I wish I had done what you’re doing when I was younger.” “How will you live this way when you’re older?” I can understand these feelings but the way I see it is that age is just a number and youth is a state of mind. I am no spring chicken mind you, but I refuse to allow life to slow me down and live my life by one motto: mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter. The work around my cabin and homestead keeps my body fit and my mind active. You said it best “focus on life and try to enjoy what you have left of it. Do the things you used to do. Stop ‘working’ so much.” Enjoy life! Life is too short as it is to work or worry it away. 😊 Wishing you all the best with your health and happiness.

It forced my retirement, but thanks to a great caring doctor, a good treatment plan, and the good lord, wer are hanging it quite well. We too are enjoying our life as we see fit. Same, I have been gardening like a fiend and someone said I was working too hard...ha ha NOT working, playing in the dirt and creating scarechicks and scaredudes and garden art and just loving life while I can I am 67 and two cancers behind me. Jim bought an additional six acres, two open field and we put fourteen fruit trees on it some in September some last month. Super excited to live long enough to have some. Be blessed, juanita mae

She gets a framed needlepoint and I get jars of my homegrown tomatoes for winter meals and it is just as pretty sitting on my shelf :)

Watching this as a rest from stress, my wife just had knee surgery and my dog has a growth on its eye. I have no children or family to help. So, I'm taking care of her horse, cat laundry etc. But looking at the dog's eye I was wondering how much this would cost. Then I realized I don't care. My dog brings me more joy than anything I have ever purchased in my life. I will go hungry before I see her suffer. You have great advice. Thank You.

Speak forth faith and affirmations of God's promises, do not "own/claim" the reports given by the doctors, those are simply a report of what is to be overcome. Speak forth healing. It's like this, the doctors' report is akin to looking out across the yard and seeing the dog by the fence. What you speak forth is what you do not yet see/have, like calling the dog to you and believing you will have the dog at your side... this would be the prayers you ask for healing and restoration to change what you DO "see". Thanks for the video. I am your age and gave notice to my Wife and boss I was retiring in Dec when I reach 62. Starting to do the thing I want to do and less of the have too. I am listening in my basement shop while carving a small mouth bass.
Good to see the video. I knew the bush camp would be standing. After all, it was built by the best! Will be praying for you with your health issues. We finally got moved to the country in September. Unfortunately, I had my own serious health issues in November and December. Hubs wouldn't leave me by myself so not much got done. We had bought a house which was only dried in. It got framed. His brother and SIL have come over and helped us run wire. That is just about done. This week, the plumbing got roughed in. The biggest issue seems to be getting an HVAC system. We've also been busy with planting - fruit trees (apple, cherry, peach, plum, and fig), berries (black, blue, rasp, and strawberries), asparagus (70 crowns), onions, rhubarb, elderberry, pecan, grapes, and a few ornamentals. Everything has been fenced b/c the deer just help themselves to everything! A greenhouse is on the agenda for this summer. You and Lori have been such an inspiration! We are loving retirement. Take care and have fun with your brother! Same for Lori - have fun with the girls.

Watching this as a rest from stress, my wife just had knee surgery and my dog has a growth on its eye. I have no children or family to help. So, I'm taking care of her horse, cat laundry etc. But looking at the dog's eye I was wondering how much this would cost. Then I realized I don't care. My dog brings me more joy than anything I have ever purchased in my life. I will go hungry before I see her suffer. You have great advice. Thank You.

Found your channel when me and my family were going through a very hard time financially and living in a run down old mobile home. Great to hear you're working/fiddling with your boat, it's a fun thing to do things you enjoy, passes the time and time lately goes fast, not like when we were kids. With all the bad things happening in this world I'm glad I, too, live on top of a mountain while the world is someplace else. Take care of yourself JC. I'm 30 yrs cancer free. Both camps have their charm but for the most part I prefer the NY place.

I've been dehydrating some Yellow Squash Zucchini and Banana Chips. Spending time with my daughter Jennifer and resting up. Sounds like good times and good memories are in your future. My family is planning a get together in November, something we haven't done in years, excited for making memories also. One day at a time and thankful for everyday Our Heavenly Father gives us. Speak forth faith and affirmations of God's promises, do not "own/claim" the reports given by the doctors, those are simply a report of what is to be overcome. Speak forth healing. It's like this, the doctors' report is akin to looking out across the yard and seeing the dog by the fence. What you speak forth is what you do not yet see/have, like calling the dog to you and believing you will have the dog at your side... this would be the prayers you ask for healing and restoration to change what you DO "see". God bless you, my friend. You two enjoy your time with family.

Boss we've been thinking the same a lot lately. At 68 things dont work like they once did but i still think like i was 25. Ive decided to get back to doing more of what i love instead of sitting arounding pondering how horrible things may come our way. Been missing you so always appreciate the updates as youre able. You keep us all inspired so keep on keepin on and i pray your health improves. Cant believe what theyve done to your beautiful land. Payback is a Bi**h. God bless

Thanks for the video. I am your age and gave notice to my Wife and boss I was retiring in Dec when I reach 62. Starting to do the thing I want to do and less of the have too. I am listening in my basement shop while carving a small mouth bass.
Good to see the video. I knew the bush camp would be standing. After all, it was built by the best! Will be praying for you with your health issues. We finally got moved to the country in September. Unfortunately, I had my own serious health issues in November and December. Hubs wouldn't leave me by myself so not much got done. We had bought a house which was only dried in. It got framed. His brother and SIL have come over and helped us run wire. That is just about done. This week, the plumbing got roughed in. The biggest issue seems to be getting an HVAC system. We've also been busy with planting - fruit trees (apple, cherry, peach, plum, and fig), berries (black, blue, rasp, and strawberries), asparagus (70 crowns), onions, rhubarb, elderberry, pecan, grapes, and a few ornamentals. Everything has been fenced b/c the deer just help themselves to everything! A greenhouse is on the agenda for this summer. You and Lori have been such an inspiration! We are loving retirement. Take care and have fun with your brother! Same for Lori - have fun with the girls.
