So nice to hear from you! We have a Groups IO and are getting ready for our free Bargello class next week. Drop me a line if you'd like to participate! ourtimetoquilt@twc.com
Is it free? I am working on small 6" x 4" landscapes and animals. I stated a couple weeks ago on flowers! Can I send pic's and you can give your oppinion?
Your quilts are beautiful, and gifted and so are you, I love see the beauty of older people, they look like movie stars from the old days, plus they tell the best stories ever, better then a book. I say.
8:37 Hi from Turkey 👋English is not my mother tongue.. but the love of learning quilts even improved my English... now I'm watching you I want to improve on landscape quilt.. thank you so much for everything
I love you. My favorite is to do art quilts. When I start mine, I also have fabric all over the place. I try to keep my landscape fabric separate from my others but that doesn’t always work. I also keep all my small scraps. I can set for hours moving my fabric around. I find this very calming. I get my husband involved because we met at the American Art School in Chicago. We have been married for 57 1/2 years. I also do my sewing in the basement but it’s not finished. I do have a carpet on the cement floor but it has no padding and is easy to vacuum. I also just redid my sewing area and made a wide ironing board. I can’t wait to see your next video.
You sound like a dear!!! Thank you! We have a lot in common hon when it comes to sewing! How wonderful you and your husband share your love and talent with art - and quilting is an art! I love my wide ironing board too! I have live streams on almost every Sunday afternoon. I hope to chat again! Hugs, Deb
I was fortunate enough to be in that first class for your binding tool star quilt class and it was wonderful. I gave it to my daughter for Christmas so I may have to make another one for myself. My sister loved the quilt too. I have missed getting to see you and I enjoyed the video. Thank you for sharing your talent and joy.
Oh how good to 'see' you here! I have missed spending time with you! Let's make a plan!! You are a great student and maybe a future teacher??? Miss you! Hugs, Deb
I really enjoyed your "Maiden" video and was surprised at how easy the landscape was coming together.....you made me realize that I could do one as a beginner quilter....LOve the tips...Can't wait for your next video!
Thank you and that's exactly what I wanted viewers to feel! I hope you will join in and would love to see the landscape quilt you make!! They are lots of fun! Welcome and thanks for your input!! Hugs, Deb
WOW! So blessed to have found you today! Love your down to earth instructions. I feel confident about starting my first landscape! It's been in my ❤️ for weeks. Bless you Miss Deb! Looking forward to all your videos 😊

You are such a dear! I will be posting Part 4 of the Landscape Quilt in the next week! I love it because it's the FUN part of enhancing the quilt with fabric pencils, markers, paints, and thread!
I have just discovered your channel and I so enjoyed your video. I, too, am a Jinny Beyer student and long time hand quilter! She is absolutely wonderful and was a huge influence on my quilting! I am also a North Carolinian! Looking forward to watching more of your videos and learning from you and your group!

I’m late on finding you, but I used to be a workaholic. Now I have a job I love where I can be creative and meet kindred spirited people creating their projects! I’m on my 4th textile piece of art. I love abstract landscape quilting with upholstery fabrics. I love the textures! You are fantastic! I hope my note finds you doing great!
Thank you Lory! I know what you mean - there was a time when I felt only as good as my last accomplishment! I am doing very well, thank you, and I give a lot of credit to good doctors and this new happier lifestyle. I hope you can meet up with us on Thursday evenings and/or our Sunday LiveStreams where we have a good time just being creative. Looking forward to getting to know you better! Hugs, Deb
Yesterday I spent a pleasant evening watching your Landscape Quilt video Deb. Thank you so much for creating this for us. WOW! You made it look so easy. Thought I had that binding ruler but no, I have 3 binding rulers, all different. ggg Terrific lesson so I signed up for more of your expertise.
What a kind thing to say! Thank you! I think I saw the binding tool rulers on sale at Craftsy for $7.12. It was worth it since you can use it again to bind your quilts! :-) Welcome to the site and I hope you'll share what you're working on! Hugs, Deb
Oh, honey...............don't I know!! Their prices are so good that you can't buy just 'one' thing!! That talented Jenny Doan has the Binding Tool Star quilt instructions here: th-cam.com/video/L2r_n3seVNQ/w-d-xo.html and if you want to buy a pattern for the larger version, it's only $4.95 at the link below. www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/detail/31610/msqc/msqc/binding-tool-star-quilt-pattern-by-msqc?gclid=Cj0KCQiAq6_UBRCEARIsAHyrgUwBgA3PdtQN1vDd97ss9-7tr88zdxYmP_IPanRoDX6zz93XsYbfmVoaAmHDEALw_wcB If a couple of you want to work on this quilt together, just let me know!
Thank you so very much! That is what I was hoping for! I now do Live Streams every Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons. I hope we'll see you there soon! Hugs, Deb
Thanks so much Ellen! I need to stress more that the long lengths of gentle curves like on the mountains and grass are best turned under and pressed. That is what Judy Lily used her arrows for. Things like tree lines are better fused and raw edge applique. I am excited to see what I dream up to add to my landscape!
Just discovered you when I needed some help with curved seams for a sunset quilt for my young granddaughter. I absolutely love the way you teach! Your personality is so fun and you are just so inspiring! I appreciate the added tips you throw in here and there. And I laughed out loud when you said you are the queen of UFO's - "Oh look! A shiny quilt! And off I go!" 😂😂😂 I look forward to enjoying all your videos! And, yes! Please do a video tutorial on the binding tool star. That would be so fun!
So nice to meet you Melinda! Thank you for your kind comments - I love what I do!! We also have a Groups IO and if you'd like to join (free) just send me an email. I so livestreams every Sunday at 3pm (est) and thursday evenings at 7:30pm. Join us!!! Hugs, Deb Also, if you still need help with curved seams, just ask!
Love your work you explain very well thank you I’m Rhonda from Young New South Wales Australia I’m going to have a go at landscaping wasn’t game to do it but know I am thanks to you
I am thrilled to hear that!!! I know you can do it!! When you cut and glue lightly in place, it's easy to tear it off and try again! We are going to start a beach landscape very soon! If you'd like to join our Yahoo group, please send me an email at: ourtimetoquilt@twc.com and I'll send you and invitation! I can't wait to see your landscape quilt! Hugs, Deb
Just watched your video and it was very helpful. I'm about to start an art/landscape quilt but with a horse on it, based on a painting my mother did. I wish you were beside me to teach me how to do this. I also just finished a binding tool star quilt and gifted it to my nephew. I also applique needle turn.
I sure wish we could sew together too! Just take one step at a time and don't fear taking out something that doesn't work and do it again! Don't forget that the work will go through an awkward stage but keep pushing through and you'll be rewarded with a treasure! I would love to see a photo of your progress hon! ourtimetoquilt@twc.com Hugs, Deb
I have been quilting for a long time and looking for some motivation. Your channel looks like it’s going to be a great companion while I work on a summer quilt. Thank you for creating such quality content!

We also have a Groups IO and if you have any questions or would like to join the group, please let me know at: ourtimetoquilt@twc.com
this is the first of your videos that I've seen, and I had to laugh... I'm a Jinny Beyer fan too! I've taken classes at her studio several times, and I collect her fabric. The orange with the aboriginal print is one of my favorites, and I was going to get more during the last sale but it sold out... now I know why! ;)
Yes, I tease that I am her 'stalker' but her amazing talent is what brought me back to quilting! I am forever grateful! I am hoping to finish her 2018 BOM this week. It's so nice to meet someone else who appreciates Jinny, the Queen of Quilting!! :-) Hugs, Deb ps- I wish I had bought more of that aboriginal fabric....sigh
I made another video yesterday- fun w/mini trunk show and more landscape. I'm having trouble figuring out how to add my into but have been working on it all night. It's on it's way!
Thank you, I got a lot of great tips from your video. I’m working on a landscape quilt of a watercolor of a Model-T driving up a mountain rode that my teacher painted for our class. She’s retiring from teaching. It’s a present from me. I’m stuck on making the pine trees.
I meant to add that pine trees are one of the easiest trees to do because of their craggy heavy bark and pointed needles. You can do great thread painting on both to get realistic texture!
I loved your video. I also took a class from Judy Lilly called WV Sunrise last summer at the WV state quilt show in Summersville, WV. I visit New Bern, NC every year in the fall for quilting. I have a challenge quilt I am doing that is a beach landscape inside a silhouette of a young woman. I really enjoy the landscapes but got hooked on making modern quilts from vintage old quilt tops and blocks. My brain won't stop. Don't know how to share photos on here.
I love Ms. Judy! The coast of NC is pretty awesome as well. Your challenge quilt sounds amazing! I'm impressed that you give old quilts new life! I would love to see your quilts and send them to my email at: ourtimetoquilt@twc.com OR better yet, if you'd like to join our fun Yahoo group, send me an email and let me know and you can chat with us, share all the photos you want, enjoy free patterns, our prize drawings, and get to know the greatest group of quilters anywhere! Hugs, Deb
I am working on a sampler. A friend from Connecticut and I made two blocks every month that were identical, kept one and sent on to each other. We each made 10 blocks ( 20) with duplicates for a total of 20 completed blocks each. We each have finished our tops and sashed the block with corner stones. I am making the piano border next. ( don't know what she is doing yet ). How do I attach a photo?
Send me your photos at: ourtimetoquilt@twc.com and I will happily put them on the next live stream/video! Thanks!!! Also we'd love for you to join our Yahoo group where we continue the fun and conversation. Send me an email to that same address and tell me you want to join and I will send you an invitation!!! I would LOVE to see you and your friend's great collaboration! Hugs, Deb
Hi Bonni, If I love a fabric, I buy 2 or 3 yards. If I really like a fabric, I buy a yard. If I like a fabric, I buy a half yard. If I won the lottery, my numbers would all increase rapidly! Now that I buy most of my fabric with art quilts/landscapes in mind, I keep in mind what colors I use most and how the design will be used. I went out today and bought 16 yards of fusible interfacing. I was so tired of running out of it and it really helps stabilize my foundations. Next, I will be looking for a good sale on muslin. :-) I love the hunt!
From Bee Hi Deb I live in southern England, have sewn all my life and find, now I’m retired, that there are only so many dresses etc you can make and I’ve been looking for another sewing medium to excite me. What luck to find your channel when cruising around looking for ideas - you have really done the job! I love your American exuberance and the enjoyment you convey in your quilt making - and the way you make it all look possible. So far I’m on Episode 2 of landscape quilting and I need to ask you something please. You have just shown a fabulous range of fabrics but you say you don’t use pre-printed fabrics - I assume you mean the sort that have actual pictures printed on them? The ones you show look like bought fabrics, or do you do your own dyeing or paint your own colours? The kind of fabrics you show would count as craft fabrics in the UK and I’ve found it hard to find any here - the few I’ve found are very expensive. So.... do you do a video about dyeing or painting your own colours please? I’m thrilled to have found your channel and hope you can make some suggestions about obtaining or creating such. Thank you so much for your inspiration.
Hello Bee! I am tickled you are thinking about taking up quilting/fiber art! I dearly love working with fabrics and fibers. What I meant about trying not to use 'pre-printed' fabrics was that I try not to use tree fabric in a literal way for trees, or flower fabric for flowers that I put in my quilts, etc. To me that is too much like paint by number and I love the challenge of using colors in fabrics and thread drawing to add the realism. I also dye and paint my own fabric. Here is a brief video of some of my fabric dyeing:th-cam.com/video/DEPPi0frX5c/w-d-xo.html I now do a weekly Live Stream on Thursdays where I do only landscapes and art quilts. This way I can share more information with those who love art quilts. I use a product called "Inktense Dye Pencils/Blocks" made by Derwent in your country, I use ink dyes that come in little bottles, and fabric markers that are permanent. The sky is the limit. We have a member of our group ( we have an Our Time to Quilt group on Groups IO) and she lives in Germany. She has good luck with ordering fabric from Missouri Star Quilt Company which offers reasonable shipping. We'd love to have you join our group where you can get all your questions answered and share in the expanded fun! If you wish to, just send me an email at: ourtimetoquilt@twc.com and I'll invite you! We'd love to help get you started any way we can and thank you again for taking the time to write to me! Hugs, Deb
Our Time To Quilt! Hi Deb How very kind of you to reply so quickly and helpfully - I’m thrilled . Yes I’ll certainly join the group - I have much to learn and great to do it alongside others and you with your friendly and down to earth style! Thanks so much. Bee
@@beehepworth5744 I love all things English so I know I'll enjoy having you in our group! Don't forget to send me an email at: ourtimetoquilt@twc.com so I can send you an invitation! Hugs, Deb
Loved watching your video. It was very informative and entertaining. Thank you. I do have a question. How do you decide what pieces to fuse and what pieces to fold the edges? Starting a new landscape quilt. Others I’ve done in the past were all fused and they look so flat!
yes, the glue only holds things together until you either applique them down or use invisible thread to zig zag stitch the fabric down. Good luck! Hugs, Deb
It means you are notified of when another video is released by email and maybe a pop up. In fact, I am making a new video today and better get back down there! hehe Thanks for subscribing and Welcome!! Hugs, Deb
Very good instructions and samples. Entertaining presentation. Looking forward to the next video.
Thank you! I've gone Live now and am much more relaxed. I hope to see you soon on our Sunday LiveStreams!
I love you! I have been learning all by myself! So far seems I am doing great! Now I have inspiration with a like minded soul!

Don't forget that the work will go through an awkward stage but keep pushing through and you'll be rewarded with a treasure! I would love to see a photo of your progress hon! ourtimetoquilt@twc.com Hugs, Deb

this is the first of your videos that I've seen, and I had to laugh...
Good luck with your new project!
I was at Bonnie Hunter's presentation this past Monday, too! Really enjoyed it and enjoyed your video
Thanks Angie! Aren't Bonnie's Quilts amazing?
You were lucky. The fabric is gorgeous😍
It was a great sale, thank you! I love really good fabric sales and Jinny Beyer fabric is always a treasure! Hugs, Deb
Thank you, I got a lot of great tips from your video. I’m working on a landscape quilt of a watercolor of a Model-T driving up a mountain rode that my teacher painted for our class. She’s retiring from teaching. It’s a present from me. I’m stuck on making the pine trees.
I would love to chat with you about it! Maybe I can give you some tips. It sounds lovely. You can email me: ourtimetoquilt@twc.com Hugs, Deb
I meant to add that pine trees are one of the easiest trees to do because of their craggy heavy bark and pointed needles. You can do great thread painting on both to get realistic texture!
Welcome to North Carolina! Clemmons Quilters? In Clemmons, NC? If so we are neighbors 🤗 I just found your page and you're a great teacher. Thank you.

Hugs, Deb
💗 Thanks for this great content! 💘 👏🏻 💖
You are so very welcome! Thank you for taking the time to post! Hugs, Deb
Thanks Deb. Great video. I have subscribed.
Thanks Jean! I look forward to seeing what all of you are working on as well!
Hugs, Deb
Love your design wall!
Thank you!!
Just found you today...and love your videos...
I just found you today.. greetings from Southern Louisiana
Hello! Welcome and I do a Sunday LiveStream at 3pm eastern time. Join us!!! Hugs, Deb
How much fabric do you usually buy for each of the colors? Do you try to get a yard or smaller amount of each one?
Love all I have seenD Russell
Thank you Dorothy! Stay in touch and we also have a Groups IO that you can join! Welcome! Hugs, Deb

Hi Deb
I live in southern England, have sewn all my life and find, now I’m retired, that there are only so many dresses etc you can make and I’ve been looking for another sewing medium to excite me.
Here is a brief video of some of my fabric dyeing:th-cam.com/video/DEPPi0frX5c/w-d-xo.html
I now do a weekly Live Stream on Thursdays where I do only landscapes and art quilts.
Hi Deb

Bee
@@beehepworth5744 I love all things English so I know I'll enjoy having you in our group! Don't forget to send me an email at: ourtimetoquilt@twc.com so I can send you an invitation! Hugs, Deb
Thanks Karen! Miss you!
Loved watching your video. It was very informative and entertaining. Thank you. I do have a question. How do you decide what pieces to fuse and what pieces to fold the edges? Starting a new landscape quilt. Others I’ve done in the past were all fused and they look so flat!
Good question! I think it depends how big the piece is and if it's in a place where it will be noticed. Hugs, Deb
lucky you lol fabric where l live starts about 11.95 to 26.95
Hey Deb! Nice to see you again! :-)
How wonderful to hear from you! Remember that retreat at my house? I would love to see what you're doing - you are very talented! Send me a link!
Will the glue wash away? I want to do a scene with horse on a king size quilt.
yes, the glue only holds things together until you either applique them down or use invisible thread to zig zag stitch the fabric down. Good luck! Hugs, Deb
Very beautiful
Thank you so much!! We'd love to have you join our group! Please stay in touch! Hugs, Deb
Can someone explain "subscribed " for me. Does it mean that I get emails about new videos??
It means you are notified of when another video is released by email and maybe a pop up. In fact, I am making a new video today and better get back down there! hehe Thanks for subscribing and Welcome!! Hugs, Deb
