    About two years ago I found a reproduction cartridge of a special modified version of Mighty Final Fight on Etsy where you can use this trick to control the enemy characters with a second controller. Even though I had previous bought the Famicom version in 2007.

    My family actually has that Capcom Classics collection on GBA. Apparently my Dad bought it for Bionic Commando, and didn't really care about the others. It wasn't until recently that I actually learned more about the other games, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were from such respected franchises, and are generally considered pretty good on their own.
    _The more you know._

      Bionic Commando is definitely the best of the three, but Strider is no slouch and Mighty Final Fight is a lot of fun, too!

    This is EXACTLY why I don't buy clone systems. The only positive is they can apply rom translations to imports. Also, dat Rewind Mike reference. Nice job as always!

    • @NefariousWes
      @NefariousWes  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dongled Yeah, but did you see how much better the footage from the Retron looked over the GC? I haven't had too many issues with the Retron 5, but this was one of the more annoying problems. And yeah, Rewind flashing his MFF cart around encouraged me to finally make this video. I've had the idea for a while now. Glad you liked it man! Got some fun stuff planned for October.

      Basically Retron5 it's using stolen outdated source code from retroarch cores (www.libretro.com/index.php/retroarch-license-violations/), basically the gba core used in retron5 it's VBA-M, if they would use the mGBA core instead it would run flawlessly xD

    I shit you not I'm playing this game for the 1st time ever right now and I see why it's so highly regarded! My Famicom/NES adapter came in the mail today & this is on a 400 in 1 multicart. I'm not seeing any lag or flicker either. I'm only halfway through but it's been super easy so far. Controls are great. Exp power-up system is way better than a point meter.

    • @NefariousWes
      @NefariousWes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Quit copying me! Ha ha, the game starts out kinda easy, but the difficulty ramps up around stage four. Of course, I use Cody for the most part, which I feel makes the game a bit easier than with Haggar or Guy.

    Absolutely LOVE this game, probably the best playing beat 'em up on the NES. I got my Famicom version a number of years ago for cheap and I'm more than happy with that.
    I've actually never owned a clone console. Are these kinds of issues common?

    • @NefariousWes
      @NefariousWes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      KidShoryuken I think this game is a bit overrated, but after playing through it five times to capture footage for this video, I have a new found appreciation for it. Had I not picked it up for $5 back in '96 when people couldn't give away NES games, I'd probably only have experienced it on the GBA. Clone systems can have some issues, but I use the Retron 5 to capture all of my NES, SNES, Genesis, GB, GBA, Famicom, SMS footage and rarely run into any issues. The music on MUSHA was "off" for a while, but was fixed with an update. Adventures of Lolo 2 just goes to a black screen when you start a game. I've had some issues with maybe about four or five games.

    • @badcp455
      @badcp455 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NefariousWes I'm sorry, but did you say you can capture using the...Retron 5? Can you give me some details
      on how it works? SD or HD, for example.

    • @NefariousWes
      @NefariousWes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@badcp455 Yeah. I just run a HDMI cable from the Retron to my capture card, then a HDMI from that to the TV, while the cap card is connected to my computer by USB of course. Captures in 720p.

    Is Mighty Final Fight a solo grind or is there a Co-Op option? Interesting how they made a more console friendly version of Final Fight for the NES, but you can get Final Fight on SNES. Maybe it had something to do with capabilities of the systems, I find NES has less restrictions towards violence then SNES, so I found this curious.

    • @NefariousWes
      @NefariousWes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      BrothersForgeGaming Just like the SNES game--it's only one player. I think no more than two enemy sprites appear at any time.

    I bought this nes cart 4 years ago for 2 dollars at Salvation Army in Hells Kitchen. When it first came out, I had a ps1 and I didn't want to play a cute em up unless it was River City Ransom, plus the Sega CD version was the definitive version of FF. If I was not beating the shit out of someone and taking their cash, learning new moves to kick some teeth in, or washing my ass like I did in River City Ransom, I was not interested. Boy I made that mistake passing this game on when I played it a few years ago, I was really impressed, I mean come-on I was spoiled by Double Dragon and could not top that fix on the nes, Yea I was wrong, great game, good video on it!

    • @NefariousWes
      @NefariousWes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, man! Ha ha, you got a helluva a deal! I got mine for $5. I actually think that this game is a bit overrated. Hell, I think River City Ransom is kinda overrated, too. I like both, but I honestly prefer Double Dragon on the NES. I've always felt this way. But I do think I like MFF better now, after playing through it several times to get footage for this video.

I’ll spend the extra money on FPGA systems such as the super nt and AVS, because they play virtually the same as the original systems (which I also have setup to my sdtv). • @corgikun2579
    @corgikun2579 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love you videos, I'm a fan. (This is unsolicited feedback). This video wasn't that good because of the "method" used for comparing game performance. The video even ended up discussing about the Reton5 which isn't even real hardware. It was irrelevant all throughout the video. Better not to even mention it since it gave you no information regarding what you wanted to compare in the first place. Comparing a port to the original is a matter of looking at a few things; sound (wave signal), latency (measure it), graphics (compare sprites, color levels), framerate (measure it). If is not an actual port but an improved version then you can discuss Story, new mechanics, physical addons like the game manual or box.

    • @NefariousWes
      @NefariousWes  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I disagree. Many people have never owned a GBA or GBA Player and are now discovering these games because they play retro games through the Retron 5. Warning them that the GBA version doesn't work properly may save someone from wasting time and money. If someone warned me of something like that I would be extremely grateful. It may not be applicable to you, but for someone like me, that info would be invaluable. This wasn't meant to be a technical comparison. I'm not a "tech" guy, and I don't pretend to be. Being a fan of mine, I'm actually surprised that you didn't know this already. The bottom line is that on the GBA and GBA Player the game is almost identical to the original NES version. That's the main takeaway from this video, and the majority of viewers understand that. Providing any more info would've been completely redundant.
