Since 1974, Pepsico has shipped its soft-drink syrup to the Soviet Union, made it into cola and sold the bottled product, taking out its profits in Stolichnaya, which is sold through a third party in the United States. Under the new deal, the Soviet Union will trade at least 10 tankers and freighters, ranging in size from 28,600 tons to 65,000 tons, with a total value of more than $300 million.

Might want to just edit that bit there. The USSR hasn't been a thing since just a bit over 32 years now (Dec 25, 1991.) So pedantically speaking, no one in the Soviet Union is trading anything anymore. . . . Just pointing out there's no deals going on with the Soviets at this point in time.

Second-hand story: A guy I worked with was doing work in Russia many many moons ago, and someone HE worked with in Russia went to get a Pepsi one day. The Cyrillic alphabet, so I'm told has an N for our P sound, and what looks like an H for the I. So, without thinking, the guy pointed to the Pepsi he wanted and said, "Nensh." When the clerk didn't understand at first, he got more emphatic. "Nensh! NENSH!" Finally, the clerk picked up the bottle, looked at the guy, and said, "Pepsi?"

When Nixon went over to the USSR to debate how advanced our kitchens were. And brag that we had plastic, while the USSR was not able to figure out how to manufacture plastic. Coke refused to go over as a "featured" product in the US kitchen and Pepsi was like, "Hells ywah. We want rhat market." And Pepsi entered the USSR as a government approved product.

A couple years ago I was working in the nearby industrial part of town and could hear the distinct sound of a rocket motor going off. One of the temps came back inside all big-eyed, and when I asked him what direction it was going in, he pointed east. After that the kid really started developing into a Prepper and calling the main stream media "Propaganda Central". Weird.

IDK how much profit was made from scrapping the decommissioned warships, but it's still hilarious to me that a soda company had a navy larger than that of most countries for a brief time.
