acenace24 especially when we won't see excitement anymore, like go back and watch the 2001 talledega race with like 5 to go, we will never see that again, 3 wide 10 rows deep
Back when plate racing where the main races everyone had to watch, a full on gamble, now it's just the high speed version of what we do on the road everyday. No more big moves, no more bumpdrafting, slam drafting, sling shot passes, hell even the 2 car tandems were wayyy better than the crap we have now. I'm all for safer races but it's like they put the races on Very Easy instead of Legends mode like it used to be.
i was listening to the race on MRN and i thought Jr was gonna win this thing, but Gordon comes out of nowhere and pulls it off lol. Gordon can drive man
video752 especially when we won't see excitement anymore, like go back and watch the 2001 talledega race with like 5 to go, we will never see that again, 3 wide 10 rows deep
Agreed whole heartedly. I got an idea. Let's show Brian France a videotape of the 2001 EA Sports 500 talladega race and say "here, this is how NASCAR is, change it back"
I’ve searched for so long to find footage of the final laps of this race. I remember being a lil kid watching this the suspense watching those cars drive from the back to the front was something special. Listen to the crowd what a time for nascar!!!!
I know. I wish that they came up with this car in 2001 because you look at McDowells crash in this new car and you know its not exactly indestructible, but the car did hold up extremely well and he came out alive and kicking. I love how the COT is very safe, and honestly I would prefer safety over sub-par races. I am sick of people complaining about it too, because now its just getting annoying. The car may not drive well, but this is where you see who can really drive a car and who can't
You can tell the drivers learned their lesson in 06. In 06, they all stayed in line until the last lap and couldn’t catch JR, Johnson, and Vickers. They all made moves earlier in this race and gave themselves as solid chance
whats so awesome about talladega is the big ones that happen and wow they repainted the track than they did in this evnt like 2 years ago but today 5 years ago the place was all like the old roads that we have today but man i miss the old nascar style
I was at this one. As a Gordon fan I was scared for my life because of what the fans did when he took the flag. This was Gordon's 77th and he passed Dale at his track and on his birthday. Yeah scary day to be a Gordon fan
If it weren't for that caution it would have been a great finish. Restrictor plate races are a lot more exciting when they are green for the last 15-20 laps or so. A caution with 20 to go bunches the pack back up, they pit, then race green to the finish. It's a lot more exciting than green, then caution, then green, then caution, then green white checkered, then caution and wreck to end the race. It ruins the finish. I hate restrictor plate races ending like that.
@PGOLDEN88 I doubt that will help as much as it did like last year. The grill-openings on the car this year on the restrictor-plate tracks will be exactly on the front bumper, So the pushing-car will have to back off completely to cool his car...so I've heard. :)
@k0ehl3r I agree with you on the last part no doubt, and I don't mind the draft because it still develops exciting finishes, but it still needs work, and I don't like the fact that the pusher has to give up the win to let the guy in front of him to the win. I think maybe give them both the win because the offense in football doesn't get the just get the win. The defense does as well. I guess that would be weird if both drivers would win, but it would be more fair.
Yeah, what bignfl09 said, plus, there was a lot of complaining about the Talladega race, too. Well, maybe not, but that was just because Jr. was the leader 'til the last lap.
I can't even budge the fact how these drivers can stay 3 wide like the last 5 laps like that. I can't even do that for 10 seconds online playing NASCAR 08! Awesome drivers that NASCAR has, and those who say NASCAR is boring? Lets see your motorsport have 29 competitors running 3 wide like that all within one single second of eachother. Nuff said.
you know what ticks me off. nascar waited until gordan got by mcmurray to throw the caution out. david started blowing up in turn 4, and they didnt put the yellow out until turn 2. after a year and a half and i am still not over it!
when this video started, gordon restarded 14th,that shows it dont matter where you start at dega, and also Jeff gordon is the best restrictorplate racer in nascar
Exactly. Well I dont agree with the sandbagging because the distance is 500 miles, and you could do whatever you want within 499 of them. But for the most part I like it.
your right...DW can't help it. He loves it when Jr. is taking the lead...but he can't stand when Gordon passes him. I was at this race....Thank God I didn't have to hear him!!!!
@sportsfan0518 With the new changes for this year on the car, the 2 car draft SHOULD only last a lap before the pushing-car gets serious overheating problems. More pack racing expected this year! :D
Plate racing really went down hill the last few years. It used to be that drivers like Dale Jr and Sr. could work it so when they pulled out at an educated moment, people would follow. Your fate was more controllable. Now, along with people like Kyle Busch, nobody works with others and people like Dale Jr and tony Stewart aren't able to use their knowledge and win. Everyone just fans out.
Through this whole sequence, watch Gordon masterfully navigate from 14th to 1st.
Karafin1 reminds me of Earnhardt in 2000. Gordon was on it this race.
@@weepjng But Earnhardt came from 18th to win in only 4 laps. Jeff was one of the greatest drivers of his era though, no doubt.
Howabouthetruth yeah Dales charge was definitely the greatest, however this one was awesome too.

I loved the old cars pack racing! It gave me such a good passionate feeling while FOX was commentating!! 2007 was the best season of the decade!!!
awesome. i miss the old cars.
one of the best races ive seen out of jeff. he is the restrictor plate king.
Speakin' as a Jeff Gordon-fan, let me just say, Hell, yeah!

this was way better, then the 2008 + Talladega
I was there, and I still get chills! Dale Earnhardt was great, but Jeff Gordon is equally as good! Go Jeff Gordon, always my favorite!!!
As a jr fan ‘ jr had so many races win at DEGA but luck was on the 24s side every time
I'm not the biggest Gordon fan, but the way he picked his way through all those cars was phenomenal
Its amazing how u can here the crowd over the roar of the cars
Jeff and Jimmie make the best pair. :D looks so cool. i love it when they race together
Announcers are so in love with junior that they refuse to acknowledge jeff Gordon taking the lead. Happened on many occasions, 2005 Daytona 500
This never gets old to watch!
1:40 = 3 very fast and talented drivers.
the whole damn time they were ranting about the 8 car, little did they know jeff gordon knows how to win
Hell yeah man, I enjoyed talking to you too. I' glad I'm not the only one seeing big problems with NASCAR.
Back in NASCAR hay day! Listen to them fans and how excited they were during those last laps
I loved these cars

Exactly. I reckon Jr would’ve won without a caution but I’m still happy the 24 won.
Man, did Jeff have a fast car in that race. He led the most laps, could run in any lane & charged like Dale Sr. in less than 5 laps to the lead.
I wish they still had the mix of the old/new car like they did here in 07
The NASCAR I remember. Remember watching this race when I was 10
Then NASCAR introduced the pansy COT
go jeff you rock, give us at least 1 more championship
I still love Dale Jr.
2:20 dat bump draft by Gordon though
i like the new cot because this one shows how good a driver really is the old car it just showed who had the better car
no actually it was 2007. jeff gordon drove the pepsi chevy in 06. also notice the blue flames on the front which were not there until 2007.
@X1Metallica I agree. That's when it was so breathtaking.
0:21 the sound though

ive been a nascar fan since 1992 IT IS MY OPINION!!!!!
if you notice at 4:56 the ticker says jeff gordon is in 16th but he actually is in 3rd
Jeff Gordon at Darlington was a prime example of that
I hate it when people tell who won the race in the description, kinda makes watching the video pointless

This is an interesting race finish until that caution.I like it how 29 or 30 cars have like 1 second behind the race leader.
The single file in this race was only for about 10 laps.
The last time the 4th gen cars raced at Talladega.
the pass gordon made reminds me of the 2005 daytona 500 when they waited to throw the caution for debris after gordon took the lead from dale jr lol

Who? Gordon? He did not win in 08.

Gordon as the last to win both the Spring and Fall races at Dega.......and with two different designed cars. And the fans threw toilet paper at him.
@flubber342 gordon went 14th to 1st in 4 laps. 8 to go he was 14th, caution with 4 to go he was in the lead
