the racing today is genuinely this good. the production by the tv crew and the commentary is complete ass so it just never feels this electric anymore.
I became a fan of Jimmie's this season (2006) when I saw a magazine at the convenience store my dad worked at. I was seven then haha, my parents didnt even know what nascar was at the time lol
on the final lap Jeff had a run. Tony moved in behind Jimmie though and it was over from there. if tony didn't do that Tony and Jeff would have passed Jimmie.
I'll admit this was one hell of a race, but I was really bummed my guy, Gordon, didn't win. Plate tracks weren't exactly nice to Jeff in 2006, though. Daytona 500, had his incident with Smoke, drove back, then got shuffled back. This race, leads the most laps, then ends up 15th. Pepsi 400, crash. Fall 'Dega race, crash. They were a lot better to Jeff in '07, though. Just goes to show that no one man can always run good at the plate tracks.
It's just that Jimmie and Chad Knaus work unbelevibly well together. Hendrick gives everybody the same equiptment. Jeff had the best car at texas, not because hendrick GAVE him the best car. Mark had the best car at Pheonix. Jr. had the best of the Hendrick cars at Talladega. So, you can't say Hendrick is playing favorites toward Jimmie.
This has to be the spring race in 2006. It's still the old surface that was repaved during that summer. In the fall race, teammates Vickers and Johnson teamed up to wreck Junior on the last lap when he was going for the win.
Actually Vickers took out Johnson which forced Johnson into Little E. Vickers took them both out. I believe they both finished 1 lap down and Vickers won his first cup race.
@@jimmyslim1793 You are right. Vickers move won him the race even though Casey Kahne finished first but the yellow flag stopping the race had come out before Kahne could get to the finish line. When the caution flags came out, Vickers was still leading. Despite the win, it was a certainty that Rick Hendrix was going to make him leave the team at the end of the year since he purposely put Jimmie Johnson out of the race.
A lot of drivers actually got good finishes. Scott Riggs finished 9th, Robby Gordon finished 10th. Jeff Green, Tony Raines, Kyle Petty, Travis Kvapil and a couple others got a good top 20-25 finish. Really wish I could've stayed home from school to watch the race, though. But it doesn't matter anymore since the race is 9 years old, and I graduated last year.
It does, I still play that game. SO many mods. I have car sets from 1990, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 00, 01, 02, 2003 of course, 04, 06, 10, 11, 12, and now the gen 6 lol. I can run the winston cup season from 1990-2003. I have yet to do that though.
Back then I was pulling for Brian Vickers to win that race, and that was a total complete meltdown. I was VERY angry, screaming in anger, my mom was pissed thinking that I should go to the hospital. That was the worst race in my history!!! It was almost a $2,200,000 promise, instead it turns into disaster. Vickers had to be disappointed in that race.
+Steventhe2nd Eh, I'm not the craziest about JJ either, but Jimmie was just doing his job. I think if Jeff could do it again, he wouldn't have gotten so impatient w/ trying to pass Vickers in turns 3-4. That late in the race, you have no teammates.
nascarfanatic2425 NASCAR is suppose to be a team sport, DEI was a pure example, Dale Jr. and Michael Waltrip helped each other, Hendrick Motorsports hasn't helped each other since the '97 Daytona 500
+Steventhe2nd HMS hasn't been all "out for myself" as much as you might think. Jeff Gordon and Dale Jr. really worked well w/ each other on the plate tracks in 2014 and 2015, and Jimmie Johnson is pretty much Dale Jr.'s new Michael Waltrip, now. Jeff and Kasey weren't the worst of drafting partners, either. Same w/ Mark Martin and Jeff. It's hard to notice how well of teammates they're being, though, when you've got people like the Penske boys. Stewart Haas is a team that seems a little dysfunctional on the plate tracks, though. Kurt Busch and Kevin Harvick might be willing to work w/ each other, but it's a rarity. Same w/ Danica and any of the other 3.
+Steventhe2nd Oh really? Where was I on that one? Okay. Well, still, Harvick was willing to be a good teammate, but do you recall some of the things she said about her teammates on the radio? Yikes. She needs to take an anger management course before next season. She might have a better chance of getting her first win, and getting better, consistent finishes, and fewer DNF's if she does so.
Plate racing has always been incredibly boring until the final laps. And if you think otherwise, you either never watched it in the past or you just don't remember it fully.
+Anthony “Kerphoventure” Kernich tandems exsisted for one season. Like 6 years ago. Plate racing is the best. Would rather see a pack than a car pass every once in a while
is it just me or is anyone kind of happy Jr, is doing better the last couple seasons at Hendrick? I know he had a bit of a rivalry with Jeff but I hope he does well. Jeff should have won BTW.
@24midnightfire24 That makes two of us. This was the race where I started to grow away from Johnson, but I still cheered for him to win the title at Homestead later on. Then every year starting in 2007, I've been anti-Johnson for the title, and Texas and 'Dega of 2010 was when I started to hate him.
three things that I hated about this race 1.) it was rained out and moved to Monday, so I missed everything. 2.) Gordon led most laps trying to get the Talladega Trifecta but finished 15th. 3.) johnson won.
who the guy with 4 championships, 86 wins,3 daytona 500's, 4 brickyards,7 darlingtons, 6 talladega's, 71 poles, 291 top-5's,, and 405 top-10's,and earnings over $127 mills. i agree bro, totally
This was/is last plate race that I can say I truly enjoyed. Nine green flag laps to the finish without a crash. Junior spins out of the race. Gordon from 1st to 15th on the last lap and Tony Stewart vs Kurt Busch. The Hendrick boys trying to tag team the field and Jimmie Johnson making the winning move...
yeah he sucks here. he doesnt try the whole race and moves up while everyone whos going for it wrecks. remember in 2008 in the fall race? he lost the draft like twice but avoided the wrecks and got a decent finish. hes lucky man
this was goood raceing the tandum raceing was awsome the crap they had this year is bull crap. cars cant pass and over heat way to easy half the feild blows their engines.but the fans wanted the pack back.... well the races this year sucks
duuuhhh. underfounded single car teams don't have that much money to go testing everytime they want and build new cars. soo its pretty obvious they barely in the top 20
Lol, yep. You guys are right, Johnson is a "Son of a bitch", he sucks. How does it make you people feel that he's made your drivers look bad since '06? And before you start crying "He cheats", or "The chase is made for him". First of all, EVERYONE pushes the rules. to within thousandths of an inch. And Second, the chase doesn't favor anyone. Starting at Daytona, EVERYONE knows what they have to do in the chase. It's no secret. 48 Team just has it figured out. Deal with it.
the commentary was on point and these cars were wobbly making it so fun to watch. I love the races we see today but its nothing compared to these
You'll never see racing like this again.
the racing today is genuinely this good. the production by the tv crew and the commentary is complete ass so it just never feels this electric anymore.
@@ericgambrel8627 Lol, no. Not even close.
This race happened 15 minutes before I was born My mom was a Johnson Fan
Cool
This race happened some time when I was 1
So it's fair to say that Jimmie was helping your mom push you out 😆
I became a fan of Jimmie's this season (2006) when I saw a magazine at the convenience store my dad worked at. I was seven then haha, my parents didnt even know what nascar was at the time lol
Crazy I still remember the 2000’s racing vividly
I like Fox's 2006 graphics package. Colorful, but generic numbers. This was the only season to use them.
Yeah, I think they were the best graphics Theyve ever used.
I liked these way better than what they have used since, now it seems like everything is so generic, once HD hit they made everything small.
Only thing I didn’t like about these graphics were the generic numbers. Other than that they were great
Lowes and Home Depot 1-2
on the final lap Jeff had a run. Tony moved in behind Jimmie though and it was over from there. if tony didn't do that Tony and Jeff would have passed Jimmie.
Really loved the way the Hendrick cars sounded at restrictor plate tracks between 05-07, they sounded like classic 90s Nascars. It was fun watching.
The last race on the old pavement.
I'll admit this was one hell of a race, but I was really bummed my guy, Gordon, didn't win. Plate tracks weren't exactly nice to Jeff in 2006, though. back then when racing was good. I miss those cars and those type of racing
I was a Jimmy Johnson fan from the day I picked his car when I was 1 or 2
It's just that Jimmie and Chad Knaus work unbelevibly well together.
3:12 Did Darrell say; "It's a long way to the moon"? Before he said finish line?
LOL HE DID
Zachary DeCiancio I didn't notice that until you said it and I went back and watched it!
Boogity! Boogity! Boogity! .... Let's go to the Moon, boys!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
DW smoking those Moon Rocks
Drinking Moonshine
The good old days of racing. I miss them days.
wut ? at a glance, i thought the thumbnail is windows's nascar game screenshot

Really great, thrilling performance 👍
Gordan was 1st coming up on 2 to go, 4th on the final lap, and finished 15th. Absolutely crazy.
this was my favorite win of Jimmie's for a long time. until he won at Talladega again lmao
A lot of drivers actually got good finishes. Scott Riggs finished 9th, Robby Gordon finished 10th. Jeff Green, Tony Raines, Kyle Petty, Travis Kvapil and a couple others got a good top 20-25 finish. 16 years now 💀
God I miss these days. I was 15 years old and #48 was my driver. NASCAR went to shit around 2016 on.
2006 was Jimmie Johnson's coming out party!! The drive to 5 !!
How times have changed in the sport since this race!
I love talladega! I get just a more passionate feeling for the sport when i see race here!!!
Great race, so unbelievably glad the engines no longer sound like that like that though.
that's straight. as above. lol late to this post.thnx for -it.
Tony almost caused another last lap wreck there.
Jimmy!....4-time champ baby!...
How appropriate Jimmie wins at Talladega on Dale Earnhardt day!!
Jimmie is my second favorite driver ever behind Earnhardt!!
@TheNASCARknowitall Agreed. Not even a fan of Jr, but I really want him to win.
Back when you had control of your own race at these places
Back then I was pulling for Brian Vickers to win that race, and that was a total complete meltdown. I was VERY angry, screaming in anger, my mom was pissed thinking that I should go to the hospital. That was the worst race in my history!!! It was almost a $2,200,000 promise, instead it turns into disaster. Vickers had to be disappointed in that race.
I love this kind of restrictor plate racing
The race where Gordon got robbed, curse you 48
+Steventhe2nd Eh, I'm not the craziest about JJ either, but Jimmie was just doing his job. I think if Jeff could do it again, he wouldn't have gotten so impatient w/ trying to pass Vickers in turns 3-4. That late in the race, you have no teammates.

Back when plate racing was actual racing, pre repave.
Plate racing has always been incredibly boring until the final laps. And if you think otherwise, you either never watched it in the past or you just don't remember it fully.
I hate plate racing with a passion, even more so since repaves and tandems.
+Anthony “Kerphoventure” Kernich tandems exsisted for one season. Like 6 years ago. Plate racing is the best. Would rather see a pack than a car pass every once in a while

This race vs the fall repaved track is night & day lol the last 4 last they were 12 in a line like the 2021 500
three things that I hated about this race 1.) it was rained out and moved to Monday, so I missed everything. 2.) Gordon led most laps trying to get the Talladega Trifecta but finished 15th. 3.) johnson won.
Great quality
@wholehand64 He got redemption later that fall at 'Dega, though. lol
yea he does thats why he has won two championships and just won at dover
this is when nascar was great
i hate when people put who won in the description it just ruins everything
who the guy with 4 championships, 86 wins,3 daytona 500's, 4 brickyards,7 darlingtons, 6 talladega's, 71 poles, 291 top-5's,, and 405 top-10's,and earnings over $127 mills. i agree bro, totally
this race happed over 5 years ago
Where did you get the world feed version of this race?
@person5598 I agree. Vickers should've won. You'd think Jimmie would've cut him some slack and let him have this one.
yea man i agree even if it was 6 years ago you might forget who won or you might of never watched the race.
How reminiscent of this years Coke 400
dude, its a race that happened six years ago. yumad?
woohoo go JJ :)
and those complaining that he said Gordon led at 2 to go, get a life...
The pack is back today!!!!
Nobody drafts with JG at these races because they know he will win.
Great race!
that was vicker's race
now only if vickers could've wrecked the leaders in this race instead of the fall race lol
Hendrick would have been 1-2-3 but Vickers fucked it up.
This was racing!
Amen
@dasherbie53 Yeah, you're right but like for the people who never watched it before
just think if stewart would have not helped vickers brian would have made the tallydega sweep
i consider this one of the last great races before the sport was largely ruined
So that’s why Vickers wrecked Johnson in the fall race
Good Race
for some people, yes
at first i thought this was a game
Is it just me or does this look like NASCAR 2003 Racing game?
Ha. Talledega. each lap is like 3 hours.
@24midnightfire24 cant be to mad gordon owns jimmy's car so technically he did win either way lol
@monzaman3232 he's gotta a good point...it does ruin the video
gordon had the coolest loocing pepsi car ever. :[
after 2001 nascar went down the drain after dale sr past away rest his soul
@wholehand64 atleast somebody is with me
Gordon got fuckin hosed
This was great!! Now it sucks
yeah he sucks here. he doesnt try the whole race and moves up while everyone whos going for it wrecks. remember in 2008 in the fall race? he lost the draft like twice but avoided the wrecks and got a decent finish. hes lucky man
We're talking about a 6 year old race. Does it really matter anymore?.
JOhnson Won in the description. Fucking Spoilers
@KA128183 Vickers was a terrible team mate, If you are going to dump team mates, you do it on the last lap.
He has 3.
its a race from 6 years ago who cares.
this was goood raceing the tandum raceing was awsome the crap they had this year is bull crap. cars cant pass and over heat way to easy half the feild blows their engines.but the fans wanted the pack back.... well the races this year sucks
You hate jimmie johnson, but you love jeff gordon?!? lol!
@awsomeman4116 need a new driver to win championship
If he died people would go crazy but if you did only like 1000 people would know I meen I would never want you dead but really.
I just don't think Mears fit well in the 5 car. But, I am sick of Jimmie having all of the luck. At least he sucked it up this week at richmond.lol
@gmjssc lol, are you better then everybody just because you ride on the Johnson bandwagon?
HAHA, cry, cry, and cry some more Jimmie Haters!!!
duuuhhh. underfounded single car teams don't have that much money to go testing everytime they want and build new cars. soo its pretty obvious they barely in the top 20

don't you feel a bit betrayed? Your own audience voted you for spam.
The body style during this generation was the ugliest in the history of NASCAR.
Povertt
Nascar is dead.
My LEAST Favorite driver Wins again! Gotta LOVE Rick Hendrick $$$ Money.
Robert Gough lol shut up fat face. If Hendrick power made Jimmie then why did Brian vickers never finish above 15th in points with that team.
LOL as soon as I saw the info i immediately stopped watching.
I disagree. I saw Johnson won and stopped watching!
