    You could add that the Copper Oxide was added to excess to ensure saturation, then the excess is filtered out.
    This would cover all the main points for the Technique, not just the theory.
    Generally I think all your videos are top quality, but this could just have that tweak to make it even better.

    Easy way to memorize:
    For soluble salt, add acid into metal, insoluble base, insoluble carbonate, alkali of soluble carbonate? So why ?
    Well as the salt you are going to collect is soluble, u first have to let those cation and anion to be released upon dissociation, then let them join together.
    So why need crystalization for soluble salt?
    As they are soluble, so you first have to let solution to be saturated, so they can no longer 'dissolve' thus u can ''isolate" it out by filtration
    For insoluble salt, that's even easier
    Mix two solution containing the anion and cation part of insoluble salt, let them form insoluble salt and filter it out

    Great video, but it was a bit difficult to listen to. Might I suggest a pop filter for the mic and some sound absorption panels (if you're on a budget, get a frame and shove it full of towels from a charity store).

      Thanks for the feedback - we agree that the sound quality on some of these old videos isn't great. We've upgraded our equipment now, so the newer videos are much better quality.

    You said copper (II) oxide is an insoluble base. How? I'm a bit confused about that. Also, are metal hydroxides and carbonates insoluble bases too?

    • @alaricwitoyo2713
      @alaricwitoyo2713 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      follow the solubility rules!
      Most carbonates, apart from sodium potassium and ammonium carbonates, are insoluble.
      (chemistry coursebook, harwood and lodge)
      they say most metal hydroxides are insoluble, but you should look into that deeper.

    How do we know what is soluble or insoluble base

  • @jethalal9288
    @jethalal9288 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    If I react Calcium oxide (base) with Sulfuric acid (acid) then the resulting salt would be Calcium sulfate, which is an insoluble salt!
    Please solve this doubt
