I've always ridden anything but a Harley. However, this year, I got a really good deal on a 22 RoadGlide. My wife and I were looking for something more comfortable for touring. Out of all the bikes in the garage, I find myself riding the Harley more often than not. Mid 50's, also not a dentist. Put 13" rear shocks on that thing and you won't scrape nearly as much if at all.
it's the weight in the corner compressing the suspension ... stiffer suspension or less weight. if you have a way to check the Balance when your done, you want the CG forward of the wheel base center.
I was the same way....40 years of hating harleys......I finally rode one, and now it is all I ride, the bike, the comradery, the whole lifestyle is terrific
I've met many guys who rode metric cruisers and touring bikes, all of which voiced their opinions that they hated Harley. Then they rode/bought one and were instant fanboi status. I've only ever owned Harleys (2 sportsters and an Ultra Limited). However, I learned on an 82 Honda 450 Hondamatic, and I currently have a 1977 Yamaha xs650 basket case thats about 70% along to becoming a bobber. I wish I could have found the newest generation Yamaha/Star Venture before I wound up getting the Ultra Glide. That Venture just looks amazing to me!
I always put crap on Harley Riders. I had never Ridden one but one trip my brother asked if I wanted too have a ride on his and I was hooked. I now own 3 Harleys and they are all I now ride.
The Golden era of motorcycles was the 70's. Starting in 1969 with the CB750 introduction and the horsepower and speed race was on. It spawned the 900Z1 followed by the XS1100 and others like the CB900F and the KZ lineup. So living through that era and anticipating the next offering was euphoric. Sorry youngster that you missed that, LOL I ride a Goldwing now that I am in my 60's and my 3 sons, two on Road Glides and my youngest on a CTX1300 Honda. But you know when all of us are on the road together, it matters not what we ride its that we ride. Thanks for the video. Be safe, have fun.
When the Honda CB750 inline 4 hit the bike scene , the entire industry took notice. The same could be said in 1975 when the 1st Honda GL1000 Goldwing hit the streets...
Ya right. In a world where we are trying to eliminate prejudice and racism he sure holds those ideals right in his heart. He then goes on to say it's not like he only likes 1 bike, then lists what he has ridden. But none of the types were touring bikes or cruisers; you know the 2 types that make up 98% of the HD line up. You have to be insane to HATE something you have never used let alone hate all the people that use the thing you hate. I love my Ultra limited and test road 4 different bikes before I got it. A BMW R18 trans con, gold wing, a roadmaster and a my bike. I'm sorry but the HD fit me best, has the lowest seat height (I'm only 5'7), best MPG (about 52 mpg is what I get ), and has beat all the other is overall reliability according to every article I've read. I ride 10k miles a year and do cross country trips every year. I wanted a touring bike for that. Something I can put 2k miles a week on. So, this 42 year old retired Bail Enforcement Agent that now owns a successful retail business got a Harley.
@@Wolvesmoto I did watch the whole video. You made fun of people who ride HDs throughout it, calling them dentist, drug dealers etc. You literally took an entire group of people and assumed something about them. Was it malicious? No. But you still did it. That is the foundation of racism (however I do not think you are actually racist). In reality you found the magic of a touring bike, not necessarily a Harley. But my point stands. When you have a platform like TH-cam and a following and blanket statement an entire group of people, that has an effect and separates people. We are all turning the same bolt. We are just using different tools to do it.
Adam, I have to say that was an epic video - I am off to pick up my 2023 Road Glide tomorrow and have never ridden a Harley so I was looking for some reassurance and you gave me 1200 miles worth, excellent and worth the subscription - cheers
I grew up riding metric cruisers, which I truly appreciate. However, after I got my first Harley (09 Ultra Classic), I instantly understood why people love them. On a side note, look at, or test ride an Ultra Limited if you can. You'll stay dryer with the lowers, and being that the dash is closer, you can duck under the windshield and avoid that rain a little more than the Road Glide.
Adam, I actually liked your song at the beginning - I need the full recording, LOL. Thanks for braving the elements and giving us a great, entertaining show!
Nice video ! Yeah..... as a old geezer I learned about Harley touring bikes many decades ago and now at 68 years old I still ride them. But I prefer the old Electra-Glide over the Road-glide.
To each their own man. Ride what you like. I grew up on sport bikes in the late 90s. Early 2000s. My dad had Harley’s and I would take them for a ride here and there and I liked them. Told myself I’d get one someday when I was old. 😂. Here I am, I’m 43 now and I ride a street glide. I’ll never not have a big twin touring bike. I love them. Find a set of handlebars that fit you comfortably, and take off for a few hours. Love it.
I enjoyed this, nicely done. I’ve owned several brands of bikes, all nice bikes for various reason’s. I used to think Harley’s were not the most attractive bike, however I realized that Harley’s are designed to appreciate the mechanics of a bike and personally think that Harley designers having a bigger challenge making their bike look nice as they need to make the V Twin the center piece along with hiding wires in or amongst the frame, which they do a really clean job of doing, vs just wrapping it in plastic like most other manufacturers. I use the word craftsmanship in describing a Harley Davidson, which does not feel appropriate for many other bikes. Again, nice piece and thank you sharing this with us.
I really hated Harleys for a few years when i first started riding. I started being open to riding one after seeing how different you could make them all look. After 4 years of riding a 2006 Ninja 250 and 636, I bought a Dyna Street Bob. As soon as i test rode it i knew i was hooked. I was smiling the entire time. You start riding with Harley friends and it changes the entire perception of how you feel about HD. They arent perfect. Far from it. But they are fun! Its the best experience i have ever had. Its like drugs.
I've had 2 different Harley's and loved them both. I've found that most people that say they hate/don't like Harley's really mean they don't like "cruisers" in general. There are so many other manufacturers that make cruisers that look the same as Harleys. My first one was a 2012 883 Sportster Superlow. I then traded it in for a 2006 Softail Heritage Classic. I used the Softail as my daily rider for a year as my daily rider going everywhere in central Florida on it. I even did my grocery shopping with it and put it in the saddlebags. I loved riding it because of how comfortable it was. I could ride it all day and never feel sore on it. The floorboards scraping on turns is something you honestly get used to after awhile. Highway pegs definitely are a necessity for long range riding. I'm also not a dentist, or part of a gang. In most of the motorcycle meetups I visited, I honestly found cruiser riders to be the most friendly and accepting people. The sportbike riders tended to be more judgmental and prejudice against other riders and bikes. But that was just my experience in Florida.
I really enjoyed this video. I'm not a dentist or drug dealer but I ride a 2022 roadglide special. Just so you know the new 2024 you got to ride has a totally different feel to it than the 22 I own. So keep that in mind. The 24 comes standard with all the upgrades I did on my 22. Plus if you get in a newer harley when you stop you give and extra firm pull on the brake and it vibrates. A H with a circle in yellow pops up. That holds the brake for you while your in gear at a stop. It's called hill assist. I use it every time I stop whether I'm on a hill or not. That gives my right hand a break. Try it out next time. I think it's a game change too.
I'm one of those "old" guys - 78 now. You picked the right one - Road Glide - is the best Road Bike. I had a '06 Cobalt Blue Road Glide, big bore kit, Screaming Eagle Pkg 50,000 miles. It was a looker!!! AND it could go!! Never an issue!
Great video. I'm not a Harley rider (yet) but would recommend you try a post-2022 Low Rider S (or ST if you want the bags and mini fairing). It's their largest and most powerful (standard) engine, is very (comparatively) light, has been raised an inch so it has better ground clearance, the forks rake angle changed so that it is better in the twisties. It has had rave reviews. It's top of my list, once I can raise the money! (I would get the naked version (S) and add soft bags and some sort of screen for the wind.)
Some people want to hate on harleys because of preconceived biases. But the moment you sit down on one and actually take it for a ride, most fall in love. There's a reason why Harley Davidson has been around for over 120 years. They have loyal customers, and it's the United States most popular and successful motorcycle company of all time.
You are hilarious! I totally enjoyed this video. I switched from Harleys to a 2020 BMW R 1250 RS. I couldn't believe how much I liked it except for my arms. After 200 miles my upper body is done. I'm looking for a Harley again. Bittersweet. 😊
A few years ago I got back into motorcycles and bought a Road Glide. It was great but I wasn’t doing long tours so it was a bit boring to ride. I did a shit load of research on everything even non Harley bikes and I ended up with a Low Rider S with the 117. It’s a great middle of the road bike. It’s sporty, you can lean it and it has better acceleration but it also has long distance legs with a 5 gallon tank and pretty good fuel economy. It even has the potential to really rip with a cam and exhaust. The other great thing with Harley is if you buy used smartly then you can ride for a couple years with almost no depreciation.
I have been addicted to drugs for most of my life , but watching you say you could be looking forward to a can of beer has motivated me to live my life drug free and chug some beer every now and then thanks buddy
Harley Davidsons are not the best tech out there for sure Adam, but when u ride one, you ll never stop. it becomes a part of your life, its a lifestyle. Ive been riding a Road Glide for 6 years now. and i Love it . Good thing that you wanted to try it! it s not easy! Well Done Mate! Cheers
Driving a Harley is not just about performance, it truly is more about a feeling. There is absolutely nothing like it in any other brand. It is called an American Touring bike for a reason, it performs best on an American road to pack on miles.
@@offdutypopo is that an opinion or fact? Have you toured extensively on both? I'm willing to bet the answer is no. There are too many people that think opinions are facts.... you may like it, personally driving both I found that the I prefer the feeling of driving the HD over the Honda Accord type feeling of a Goldwing. Kind of like driving a Cadillac instead of a Lexus.
@@jamescampbell4334 Just like all things, there are people that buy them for status and looks and people that buy them to use them... I'm one of the ones that uses them.
I've been a sportbike rider for 20 years now, but I've ridden every kind of motorcycle including a 600 mile trip on a road king. The biggest surprises for me is that a large as a harley is, i felt extremely cramped for my 6' 1" frame. Secondly, turning is a complete afterthought, literally everything grounds out when you try an even slightly sporty turn. Third, the power was very meh. Now that I've hit my 40's the knees can't handle as much time on the sport bikes, but i have another option. I prefer to build my own motorcycles so I'm currently building a TL1000S powered cruiser. Time will tell if this amalgam will work out, but i can't wait to get started on the build!
I had only ever ridden hondas mostly v4s and F6s, when a friend let me ride his Sportster. I was shaking all over the place vibrating like crazy couldn't use the rearview mirrors, couldn't hear myself think over the pipes. I didn't get it at all, slow, ugly, inefficient. Then in my 40s a friend let me ride his road King. Holy crap! That's an awesome bike! I freaking loved it! Can't afford one, but loved it.
I love my Harleys, but the first 9 seconds of this video had me laughing and earned you a new subscriber. :) Fun story: I used to feel exactly the same way you did. Could not have been less interested in anything Harley built or anyone who owned one. I don't know what flip switched in me, but about a year ago I decided I wanted nothing more on this earth than a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. So, of course, I went and bought two.
I was enjoying the video but to me it was just another creator… but then…. He started singing a gibberish desert song and I instantly knew this was a man of the people. Keep up the great work! P.s. my go to song to sing when my music isn’t working is The Lion Sleeps Tonight
as a aussie living here i have felt the same about harley's Never got it , after your video i still don't 😂😂 but i never cared what other's rode long as ya riding . I can not get off my fjr 1300 yet i need to ,things seem to go by to fast these days , Gr8 video
I felt the same way until i rented a street glide special, ended up buying one and an iron butt a month later, 1142 in 19hrs! Still love it, missing a little handling but makes up for it in comfort, it better suits the type of writing I like to do now
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... I think Harley makes some of the best looking bikes out there... And like you for years I swore up and down I would never own a Harley... Couldn't pay me to own one ... But now at 60 and not a Dentist or Drug Dealer although I do work in the Pharmaceutical Industry.. I have to say the Road Glide I bought two years ago is the best bike I've owned ... getting ready to set out on a four to five thousand mile road trip in a couple days..
When you rented the bagger, you should have spent a bit more on some rain gear. Great investment to be stashed away in one of your bags! Something you dont want to have to use but is greatly appreciated when you need it!
First video I’ve ever seen from you and I knew right off the jump that you would end up loving that bike. I agree that the front end of a road glide looks horrendous though, that’s why you buy a street glide! 😂
I test road a 24 Road or Street Glide and their Adventure bike recently, I've only ridden 3 others a Suzuki GS450L ( starter bike ), a Goldwing GL1200 4cyl and a 1500 6cyl, all ran smoother than a HD and the older Goldwings were quieter, less mechanical noise, and a lot smoother.. sure less power but 100hp is enough for me, I have no issues, love them. I enjoy all things mechanical but, nah I'm good with not owning or riding a HD.. I dont like the Suzuki Boulevard either.. shakes too much 🙂
I had to do quite a bit of work on it, but my 2001 H-D XL carves a balanced drift, before anything gets close to scraping. it's a weight forward XL build, and quite a lot lighter than stock though.
Been to that very rentals on a couple of occasions. Red Rock, Hoover dam into Arizona. In the mountains just outside Vegas , Bolder City , on the strip and loved every second of it . Watching this the rental facility looked like it hadn't changed at all .By the way I'm American and grew up 50 years in England. Now in North Carolina. I have two Harley's a 14 Firefighter Streetglide, 05 Deuce and Honda CTX 700 . 🤙🇬🇧🇺🇸
I, too, am one of those unlikely converts to H-D motorcycles. For my first 18 or so years of riding, I was a sport bike absolutist. The closest thing I owned to a touring bike was a Kawasaki ZX14 (heavily modified). I constantly derided Harley-Davidsons, in particular, for their "ancient technology and passion poor handling." For me, life was (and still is) best lived in the lean angles that you could explore while attacking the curves and twists that are so abundant in my locality (Blue Ridge Parkway). I lived lifein giddy abandon on bikes that I owned from manufacturersthat included Honda, Kawasaki, Triumph and Ducati. One day, by happenstance, I happened to ride a Street Glide. When I got off all I could say was "Now I get it. Now I understand." I still enjoy those curves but now they are accompanied by the occasional sound of scraping parts on my H-D (heavily modified). Thanks for such an enjoyable video and thank you for reminding us all that it truly doesn't matter what you ride, but rather that you ride...and that the ride brings you enjoyment. Ride hard, ride fast, ride safe!
I currently have a Lowrider S with RWD rear suspension that is 1" over stock and 2" over stock front suspension with GP cartridge inserts. Also has Thrashinsupply mids with mini floor boards...all for better handling and increased lean angle/clearance. Just dropped it off yesterday to have the 131ci displacement kit installed plus some additional power mods. I still need to convert to radial brakes...in due time.
@@hijodelantorchanunya1572 Nice bike there man, fellow fxlrs owner here, RWD shock is the best purchase on my bike yet, hows the mini floor boards threating ya, running the p54 pegs from them and ready to try someth new out
I have ridden most brands on 2 wheels, as i got older and gravitated away from the riding position of sports bikes and wanted to do longer rides. a Harley touring platform just cant be beat for comfort
I owned a ‘98 Gold Wing and then a ‘06 Harley Ultra Classic. Feature wise the GW was better but the Harley “feels” better, so it’s like comparing different kinds of apples. Right now I’d LOVE to swap for a high end adventure bike. Unlikely my ‘06 will sell for enough to do that, but I can dream, which means I’ve been watching so many motorcycle videos this one showed up via YT algorithm.
Livin the life mate. Straight line ride, I love it. One problem, if I dropped it I don't think I could get it upright again lol. That RR covered in carbon was my pick, I just want it sitting in my living room.
Owned a ton of different bikes. From sportbikes to dual sports, adv’s, naked bikes, grew up on dirt bikes. Never have I been so happy or comfortable as I am on a harley fatboy. Complete comfort, easily maneuverable, and the sound/feel is like nothing else.
Cool video Adam! We find scooters magnetfishing lol! And some people find mopeds too. You're a trooper, for wearing all black in death valley, its very hot their 🔥
I've been riding Harleys for about 30 years, worked as a Harley Davidson Motor Company (Factory) Research and Development technician, a HD dealership Engine rebuild/performance/driveline specialist and machinist, as well as owned my own shop building street performance engines to all out racing engines including Nitromethane burning drag bikes. I totally agree about the appearance of that front fairing. Atrocious. As far as wind protection vs the handlebar mounted "Batwing" fairing, it really depends on your height, arm length/position behind the fairing, speeds you ride at, and actual windshield height. The footboard dragging can be alleviated (at least on older models) by changing the mounting holes you have them bolted on with. Granted it's not a huge difference but it does make a difference. That said, the footboard scraping is kind of a safety feature much like the little bits that hang off the bottom of sportbike pegs to let you know you are reaching your lean angle limits, a "Soft scrape" if you will. If you modify a "Bagger" so that you absolutely won't scrape footboards the next things that scrape are hardmounted expensive parts but even worse, scraping them will often lever your rear tire off of the pavement which obviously is very bad. And at last, in my opinion the handlebars your bike was equipped with are the worst for a few reasons I won't get into. I would recommend that you try out a Road King if you'd like something that feels less ponderous, less car like, and more like a traditional motorcycle but is still compatible with knocking out a road trip.
5 min in and I am laughing with your singing. (With, not at!) The cold brew was well deserved. Totally agree with the new Road Glide needing a taller screen and highway pegs. But I really like the new bodywork on the 2023 CVO and 2024 Road Glides and CVOs. Glad you saw some positives with the Harleys.
@@AdamSwords The CVO definitely has more power, but after riding a non-CVO 2024 Road Glide, I was surprised at how close it felt seat of the pants to the CVO. Both are well improved over earlier models. Add a 10-12" windshield, and it's good to go.
I bought my first Harley Davidson Street Glide Special 114 ci. And guess what ? It has lived up to the hype and my expectations. I reckon it comes with different strokes for different folks. Not a medical physician, attorney, dentist and or biker club member. I am just me. I enjoy riding the long distance and the occasional bike meet, maybe. Other than that, I ride for me not for the satisfaction of others and their own biased opinions. Stay strong and keep riding what you love.
I believe that, that front end / nose was made to compete with the Indian Challenger. Even though a lot of Harley people said that the Challenger front end looked ugly.
Been riding a Harley since my 20s and I'm now 48 and have a 2007 Screamin Eagle Road King, with loud pipes...well because I'm an obnoxious American! Lol Not in a gang or a dentist 😂 Honestly, I fast forwarded to the end in which I knew what the outcome would be. Stay up man!
I've never liked the look of Harleys, or the forward foot pegs. I feel like I'm on a doctor's exam table. Also thought it was funny that, despite the "rebel without a cause" feel of motorcycling, all Harley riders seem to look the same. Park outside a Harley dealer for a little while and do some people watching. I did manage to find one real Harley I liked 'though, bought a 2006 Harley VRSCR V-Rod, the Street Rod. The Harley for people who hate Harleys. Fun bike, actually feels like a real motorcycle. If you ever get a chance, take a V-Rod for a spin.
I enjoyed watching your video and have watched several other reviews on the 2024 HD Road Glide. If you bought one would you get an after-market windshield?
i have been RIDING on the Street for a little over 50 years on EVERY TYPE AND MAKE OF MOTORCYCLES out there from small cc urban transport to Italian road racers and have Learned there are SO MANY MOTORCYCLES that perform different tasks and there is no SUCH MOTORCYCLE THAT DOES ALL THINGS FOR ALL RIDERS HARLEY DAVIDSON'S for all intent and PURPOSE do WHAT THEY DO VERY WELL and THAT IS CRUSEING AND TOURING and an occasional Sprint through the twisties They are well made easy to maintain hold thier value And MOST IMPORTANTLY THEY ARE FUN and the PEOPLE WHO RIDE THEM ARE VERY FRIENDLY AND COMPASSIONATE about Motorcycle Adventure AND COMRODERY HARLEY DAVIDSON'S ARE NOT JUST A MOTORCYCLE THEY ARE A LIFESTYLE AND I MUST SAY A VERY ENJOYABLE ONE
This was actually a pretty cool vlog and I subscribed……dude is pretty entertaining and honest. I am a Harley owner and I agree with the opinion of the look of the Road Glide…..which is why I own a Street Glide
Love the new format, with you ,in front of the camera and not just voice over. I own a Harley Davidson, I prefer Cruiser and Touring bikes over Sport bikes.
Had metric bikes until my twin boys were old enough to ride and they got Harleys. Now I have an 08 Fatboy and a 19 Road king. Notch puts a smile on my face like it🤷♂️ Oh, and I’m a retired construction worker.
I'm with you on the nineties bikes😂. I graduated in 1990. 😂 I had subscriptions to cycle world, sportrider, etc. so I was lusting over those bikes when they came out ZX11, zx9,busa, fireblade. Then the TL1k, ZX14😂.I rode many many bikes back then. Only new bike I bought was rf900r. drooled over them all 😂. I ride a modified sportster these days😂 go figure😂
the best part of a harley is you can make a harley into anything you want. make it fast light to light, make it more comfy, be a king of the baggers ripoff and make it handle, take a look at the load adventure sportster builds, the harley aftermarket is ungodly in size not even including the obvious universal fit parts. i love my sporty its no sport bike but the controls and bars and seat fit me like a glove since i picked them. a million storage options for any trip and going from an 883 to a 1200 with some cams and bolt ons was easy so its zippy. going from an 883 or 1200 to something like a 1250/1275 is just as easy. you can go as far as a 90ci hammer kit that makes 150+whp the options are endless and thats just the sportster.
I bought new HD RK and new GW offf showroom floor. Called Honda dealer, said I was on a road trip, need a tire. She said three day wait. I old her staying in a hotel not kewl. HD dealers does same day for travelers and I would never ride my GW out of town. Sold it and kept the HD, 2016, 60k miles, no Covid riding. I’m 76 1/2 YO and the RK. Is getting almost tooo heavy. Great bike. Do you remember why Japan took over bike market? They came out with electric start!!
Harley haters are so immature it's ridiculous. I started on a Honda. Loved it. Love my Harley more. For me, there is no such thing as a bad motorcycle or one that is better than the other. It is an individual thing, depending on the specs (height, weight, riding experience) of the rider, and the type of riding planned by said rider which dictates what they end up riding.
I'm on my 4th Harley, a 2001 Fatboy with a carburetor. I've had a Dyna, my dad's old Heritage that had been triked, and a Sportster. I don't like baggers. I also have a Kawasaki Z125. I'm not a gang member or a dentist. My wife is also neither, and she rides a Heritage. Harley culture is weird and crazy, but everyone else on one is a friend you just haven't met yet. I know a lot of people don't like Harleys, and that's fine with me. Riding is riding, and bikes are very personal
Yeah It looks like you like Harleys now. Love the content, are you going to be doing more videos around arizona there is alot of great places here. Cheers from AZ
Most my buddies and family all came from sport bikes but now we all have harleys and we travel places and see America 😎. Nothing wrong with having 2 bikes. Just like theres times for hand gun and theres times for a shoot gun 🤷🏻♂️
Dude, get yourself a 2014 to 2020 Road Glide Special. Easy to work on, easy to ride, and easy to customize. Plus there are a shit ton of cams and other options for hp and torque upgrades. Great video. Thank you for sharing.
Consider yourself converted and now you understand! What part of AZ are you from, I am in Queen Creek. And yes, I have two Harley's: 2011 FLHRC and 2023 FLTRK. Enjoy!
Awwww Adam! I ride a GS 1200 Adventure at the moment, and have ridden the 1150/1200's for a while, BUT I DO miss my HD's. I wanted one ever since i heard and then spotted one coming through my small Leicestershire village when i was around 9 years old & before i had any knowledge of motorcycles at all, but it took me about 25 years until i got my 1st one. No other bike has the following like a Harley, from plenty of HD 'Rallies' in different countries throughout Europe every year (that was just within the Harley Davidson Riders of Great Britain club) to the massive Eurorallie with 10's of thousands of people attending, the comraderie is second to none, the 'club' i joined, HDRGB was very informal and all of the people I interacted with over the years (yes including the odd member of HA), were brilliant, HOG on the other hand are quite militant in my experience, you get a free membership of HOG when you buy a bike usually, but I didnt like being told I had to keep my place in line when out on a ride etc, for me that goes against what i want to be on a motorcycle for. Had a Terminator 'T2' Evo engined Fat Boy, through to an Electra Glide (for the Mrs you understand) but loved them all, but you have to get one with Highway pegs, & the pipes changed and stage 1 done next time, a Harley should be making that Harley noise chap :) Death Valley - Black Helmet - Black jacket -EEK! Scraping the boards always used to make me jump, you DO get used to it a bit lol Great content as usual 👏👏👍🤙👌🖖✌🤘🍻
Same here, I don’t know what all the hype is about Harley . I bought one and I’m bored with it and will trade in as soon as I can. I like goldwing better. Harley is hype and loud exhaust and a frat environment at the dealership when they ring the bell and play your theme music after a purchase plus a free T shirt but after that my buyers remorse set in. I won’t miss it.
Not a drug dealer, dentist, or lawyer. Steel worker by trade, I hated harley guys for years, while I rode sportbikes, metric cruisers and such. Glad to say that I too have be blessed with owning and enjoying the perfect bike for me. 2011 superglide custom, it hits so damn well. Power, performance, and customized to what I love. Never getting rid of this absolutely amazing machine. I'm a 70's kid so I went a bit old school. I think she is the most beautiful bird on the road.
Given that you've ridden a lot of types. Do any jump out if... Let's say you lived in a quiet beach town, maybe in Florida. What would your choice be for a bike that is just used to do random errands or a little drive on nice days?
Be careful with riding Harleys with mechanical watches I was warned.. Vibration on the handlebars.. Great video and welcome to the Grand Touring Motorcycling World..😀
I've owned several metric bikes over the years but 2 years ago at age 52 (not a dentist) I got my first Harley by trading in my 2009 Goldwing. The 2 things that surprised me the most were learning how the power from the motor was so different than metric bikes and the "Lifestyle" aspect of HD. It didn't take long to get used to the motor and how to get the most performance out it but when it came to the Lifestyle aspect of owning and riding a HD it really surprised me how everything around you seemed to be different than when riding any metric bike I've ridden. You have a feeling of acceptance into a family where I always felt like a loner. Even the "2 wheels down wave" to and from other riders feels different. But the way HD has incorporated the apparel and gear lines into being part of the ownership lifestyle is huge because it is so unlike the metric bike ownership where there is very little in comparison to what HD offers. I'm glad to hear you had a great trip and enjoyed your time on the Road Glide.
Right on! Thanks for the info

You’re not wrong!
When the Honda CB750 inline 4 hit the bike scene , the entire industry took notice. The same could be said in 1975 when the 1st Honda GL1000 Goldwing hit the streets...
I’m not a drug dealer, dentist or a lawyer…but I do love my 2024 Road Glide. You’re pretty amusing for a metric rider 😁
Haha thanks!
@@nhbountyhunter cool story you did not watch the whole video did you... also what racism...
@@nhbountyhunterBe less sensitive dude. At the end of the day it is all in jest, literally one of his best friends owns are harley in the video.
Adam, I have to say that was an epic video - I am off to pick up my 2023 Road Glide tomorrow and have never ridden a Harley so I was looking for some reassurance and you gave me 1200 miles worth, excellent and worth the subscription - cheers
Congrats! I hope you enjoy it!
I am 25 years old and ride a Harley Road King. Absolutely love everything about it.
I bet
I grew up riding metric cruisers, which I truly appreciate. However, after I got my first Harley (09 Ultra Classic), I instantly understood why people love them. On a side note, look at, or test ride an Ultra Limited if you can. You'll stay dryer with the lowers, and being that the dash is closer, you can duck under the windshield and avoid that rain a little more than the Road Glide.
Adam, I actually liked your song at the beginning - I need the full recording, LOL. Thanks for braving the elements and giving us a great, entertaining show!
Hahaha you’re about the only person who did
@@AdamSwords Ahh c'mon, I'm sure you have a music fan club you don't even know about!
Love it.
Yeah I’d like to ride a modified one now
I enjoyed this, nicely done.
You're probably right about the cruisers thing. In my case I think that is it basically.
I had a Dyna SuperGlide for a while. Very relaxing to ride and handled and went well. Can't be stressed riding an HD.
That’s a cool feature
Great info. Ill take a look
Have you tried a gold wing?
@AdamSwords Not a new one but I don't think I'd want one. I hated the last 3 Honda's I owned.
Too bad the headlight fairing looks like an alien spaceship from War of the Worlds.
The street glide is a better looking bike. They are heavy but super comfortable for long trips. Glad you had a safe trip!
Totally agree!
Wow Adam the singing. The dogs are howling over here in Leeds mate.😂😆
Hahaha
I have been addicted to drugs for most of my life , but watching you say you could be looking forward to a can of beer has motivated me to live my life drug free and chug some beer every now and then thanks buddy
Look after yourself mate. Everything in moderation
Cheers
Thanks mate!
Driving a Harley is not just about performance, it truly is more about a feeling. There is absolutely nothing like it in any other brand. It is called an American Touring bike for a reason, it performs best on an American road to pack on miles.
I agree!!!
Except the goldwing is superior in literally every way for touring. So.....
Yet, most have extremely low miles on them. 🤔
Good on you for putting it to a real test to make your judgement. Wether you loved it, hated it, or any where in between, you did it right.
Fun story: I used to feel exactly the same way you did. Could not have been less interested in anything Harley built or anyone who owned one. I don't know what flip switched in me, but about a year ago I decided I wanted nothing more on this earth than a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. So, of course, I went and bought two.
Thanks for the sub! I need to try some others now
@@AdamSwords see my post above, definitely a good compromise for coming from a non-Harley, instead of getting the fully loaded behemoth you have here!
I was enjoying the video but to me it was just another creator… but then…. He started singing a gibberish desert song and I instantly knew this was a man of the people. Keep up the great work! P.s. my go to song to sing when my music isn’t working is The Lion Sleeps Tonight

I didn’t expect it to rain, I have all the gear I just left it at home like a knob lol
First video I’ve ever seen from you and I knew right off the jump that you would end up loving that bike. I agree that the front end of a road glide looks horrendous though, that’s why you buy a street glide! 😂
Am I that transparent?! Thanks for watching mate
I am not at all into bikes but this was a really nice and inspiring video. Well done Adam!
Glad you enjoyed it!
More motorcycle content Adam! ... But with some more interesting bikes 🤣 JK JK.. Greetings from Finland! 🇫🇮
Haha! More to come
I test road a 24 Road or Street Glide and their Adventure bike recently, I've only ridden 3 others a Suzuki GS450L ( starter bike ), a Goldwing GL1200 4cyl and a 1500 6cyl, all ran smoother than a HD and the older Goldwings were quieter, less mechanical noise, and a lot smoother.. sure less power but 100hp is enough for me, I have no issues, love them. I enjoy all things mechanical but, nah I'm good with not owning or riding a HD.. I dont like the Suzuki Boulevard either.. shakes too much 🙂
I’d love to try a Goldwing
I daily a 20 Road Glide, love it, but I noticed the batwing does give more wind protection than the shark nose.
Yeah that makes sense
I had to do quite a bit of work on it, but my 2001 H-D XL carves a balanced drift, before anything gets close to scraping.
it's a weight forward XL build, and quite a lot lighter than stock though.
That’s cool
Very eloquently put! What mods have you done to yours to scratch the lean angle itch?
I currently have a Lowrider S with RWD rear suspension that is 1" over stock and 2" over stock front suspension with GP cartridge inserts. Also has Thrashinsupply mids with mini floor boards...all for better handling and increased lean angle/clearance. Just dropped it off yesterday to have the 131ci displacement kit installed plus some additional power mods. I still need to convert to radial brakes...in due time.
Interesting, I’ll have to do some googling.
@@hijodelantorchanunya1572 Nice bike there man, fellow fxlrs owner here, RWD shock is the best purchase on my bike yet, hows the mini floor boards threating ya, running the p54 pegs from them and ready to try someth new out

Thank you!!
Glad that you gave the Road Glide a chance. It is really a comfortable motorcycle to ride.
It really is!
I have ridden most brands on 2 wheels, as i got older and gravitated away from the riding position of sports bikes and wanted to do longer rides. a Harley touring platform just cant be beat for comfort
they are pretty comfy
Thank you for the experience mate!
As always!
Love the video! I grew up on the Monterey Peninsula and seeing it in the video brought a smile to my face. 😊
That’s awesome! It’s a gorgeous place
Livin the life mate.
Straight line ride, I love it.
One problem, if I dropped it I don't think I could get it upright again lol.
That RR covered in carbon was my pick, I just want it sitting in my living room.
You’re not kidding!!
You're a trooper, for wearing all black in death valley, its very hot their 🔥
I honestly wasn't surprised at the ending one bit. The torque is addicting. Nothing is like a big inch American motorcycle.
I actually love Harleys but I absolutely loathe the people lol.
Yeah the image isn’t great
5 min in and I am laughing with your singing. (With, not at!) The cold brew was well deserved. Totally agree with the new Road Glide needing a taller screen and highway pegs. But I really like the new bodywork on the 2023 CVO and 2024 Road Glides and CVOs. Glad you saw some positives with the Harleys.
The CVO was definitely an upgrade in terms of looks. Wonder how different the experience would have been
@@AdamSwords The CVO definitely has more power, but after riding a non-CVO 2024 Road Glide, I was surprised at how close it felt seat of the pants to the CVO.
Stay strong
and keep riding what you love.
I agree about the faring, a designer thinking hmmm a brick wall would look good up here, ah geez lol
lol right
I believe that, that front end / nose was made to compete with the Indian Challenger. Even though a lot of Harley people said that the Challenger front end looked ugly.
I’ve had a few H-Ds and am riding the Pan American right now. Try the Pan Am, it’s an amazing motorcycle. Would love to see your video review.

That's because it's a Porsche

I was surprised
the best part of a harley is you can make a harley into anything you want. make it fast light to light, make it more comfy, be a king of the baggers ripoff and make it handle, take a look at the load adventure sportster builds, the harley aftermarket is ungodly in size not even including the obvious universal fit parts. i love my sporty its no sport bike but the controls and bars and seat fit me like a glove since i picked them. a million storage options for any trip and going from an 883 to a 1200 with some cams and bolt ons was easy so its zippy. going from an 883 or 1200 to something like a 1250/1275 is just as easy. you can go as far as a 90ci hammer kit that makes 150+whp the options are endless and thats just the sportster.
Watch the whole video before you get your widdle feelings hurt

Glad you’re enjoying :)
Most people enjoy their first ride on a touring Harley. I did the metric stuff when i was young and Harley is actually a more enjoyable ride.
Try the Sportster S with mid controls. You won't regret it.
I’ll look it up!
Had a Terminator 'T2' Evo engined Fat Boy, through to an Electra Glide (for the Mrs you understand) but loved them all, but you have to get one with Highway pegs, & the pipes changed and stage 1 done next time, a Harley should be making that Harley noise chap :)
Death Valley - Black Helmet - Black jacket -EEK!
Scraping the boards always used to make me jump, you DO get used to it a bit lol
Great content as usual 👏👏👍🤙👌🖖✌🤘🍻
Same here, I don’t know what all the hype is about Harley . I bought one and I’m bored with it and will trade in as soon as I can. I like goldwing better. Harley is hype and loud exhaust and a frat environment at the dealership when they ring the bell and play your theme music after a purchase plus a free T shirt but after that my buyers remorse set in. I won’t miss it.
I am a jarley guy, i would suggest you try a low rider at as it is a smaller roadglide basically.
Maybe a Ducati scrambler or similar
👍for standing the rain.
😅
need car content with micheal, fr
He isn’t in to cars though?
Be careful with riding Harleys with mechanical watches I was warned.. Vibration on the handlebars.. Great video and welcome to the Grand Touring Motorcycling World..😀
No sir, it isn't an iPhone. Results may vary tho seriously.
Haha yeah they’re quite agricultural!
Don't forget the repairs (Jeff) will be always there to remind you of your reliable Wing.
