Get a flag pole hitch mount for your Explorer. Use the Spiderbeam mast and attach a wire to the ATAS120 with an alligator clip. I found a mount that cleared the tailgate when down. $30 from eBay

We need more of this! This was fantastic! I like the conversational style of it and the discussion. You guys could host a radio show - You have great chemistry. I think the magic is being in the car as well - Way better than zoom discussions.
I'm all stocked up on folding solar panels...but consider reviewing the P3 Solar folding ones. Waterproof.
The best part of this was when Jason left the open bag of M&Ms on the dash and they all rolled into the defrosters.

Question for you gentlemen: if using a Bioenno 30Ah LifeP04 for portable POTA operation with the IC-7300 is a supercapacitor needed to prevent any damage to radio while transmission? (ie: voltage drop)
No. From an Electrical Engineer. Use nothing smaller than No. 12 AWG wire from the battery to the radio.

I know you may have things planed out for your trip. But if it isn't out of your way I would like you to do a video on POTA at the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge! Mount Scott, elevation 2,464 ft. This would be a 2 for one! POTA for the Refuge and SOTA for Mount Scott that is in the Refuge! And you can drive to the top of Mount Scott! There is parking on top of Mount Scott. Should be able to set up and being that high you should get out very good! I live near there for a long time but was not a HAM! Spent a lot of time out there! Do NOT try to pet the Buffalo! They may seen tame but they are not!! Not sure how the bands will be but at 2464 feet with a lot of flat land around there you should be able to really get out. Will need to use vertical antenna, not much room to use wire antenna if others are up there. I wished I could do that! 73 W4DES

Curious, why would you need the chameleon matching unit on a telescoping vertical if you are already changing the length to be resonant?
I saw in another video the Chameleon matching unit can provide a 5:1 unun to create a 3/8 wave Rybakov configuration which raises the radiation resistance and lowers the radiation angle. Not sure which matching unit that was but the idea is better performance by using more of the whip. Chameleon just introduced a 25’ whip.
There is no “a” at the end of Missouri. It’s not Missoura just like it’s not Mississippa. The end of both have the long “e” sound.

Roads are so straight in USA they dont need steering wheels lol. Just a button. I bought a car recently that was an import from USA. The guy said theres no steering wheel as it didnt need them. I live in UK now having issues with the car going around corners. Sure he ripped me off.
