I am a huge SKZ fan, safe to say they’re my favorite boy group at the moment and I am totally into their sound and style they’ve created for themselves. This album did not disappoint. But I am aware that 3RACHA said they really struggled creatively when it came to Maniac. I remember distinctly in your Christmas Evel/Winter Falls reaction on Patreon that you felt that Stray Kids puts out way too much music; how the fact that they had yet to experience a real break in their career after running non-stop since debut in 2018… was insane. I didn’t feel it at the time but I do now. 3RACHA have been… immensely prolific, anyone working at this rate would feel creatively drained. Now, members have been injured, Changbin just tested positive for covid not even a day into their promotions, but they are also achieving brand new heights with their signing to an American label and push into the U.S. market, and a world tour coming soon,… burnout at the rate that they’ve been going is inevitable. I just hope they get to stop and take a break soon.
'putting too much music"compared to other groups, yes. but I don't think they have other choice: since they haven't been able to tour I'm afraid they just have to bring money by releasing new albums. without it we probably wouldn't have got such high quality mvs. I also think they're aware of competition in kpop and are anxious about their future a bit, since we all know how short idol's career can be...
Cant agree more. The way we see lee know personality in many skz reality shows and he let it all out in this mv, we're so happy to see his lines getting more in killing parts.
I'm obsessed with this new song. I really love everything about it. the details in the video, the message, the aesthetic of the costumes and sets.. just everything. Also. Lee Know was absolute FIRE
I thought i was being biased with Minho but the way you explained it makes sense now. Even before the mv was out i thought i can't wait to see him go off on this and he really did. He always had this crazy charm i guess like Hyunjin but yet their styles are so different. It's a really nice and fresh change for them, my expectations were exceeded like always 🔥🙌🏻🎉
lee know chorus part is so good i think bc it contrasts to how felix and hyunjin are super sharp when they sing but lee know hangs onto the notes and blends them between words and it’s more flowy idk how to word it better
After three waves of hard hitting "in your face" bangers in God's Menu, Back Door and Thunderous. It's such a nice change of pace for SKZ to release a comparatively slower sound with Maniac. That pop centric sounding verse and a (still very much strong) synth bass chorus is fucking fantastic. It's like a mix of old and new Stray Kids. Whole mini album is well written too. Quite cohesive from track to track (much like their Clé 1: Miroh album). They've truly been a wonderful group to follow. Excited for what they do next this year
I totally agree with you, Stray Kids delivers every single time. Also did you notice that the effects and transitions also fit the song text, for example when I.N sings "we are all the same" and then he multiplies, or in the chorus chans ad lips talk about smoke and fog and then Lee Know disappears in smoke in the next scene. Stra Kids really found the perfect team to work with for their music videos that compliments their amazing music.
I was a little scared before watching mv because I thought they might stick to explosive sounds (I love noisy texture but I didn't want them to repeat actually) but thank god, I remembered again why I stan this group. New, exciting music, perfect line distribution and performance.. I loveeed this. I've been listening to this for hours and I can listen more. I love this group. They're amazing.
Imo, before god's menu era (mixtape -> clé levanter), it's like they mostly showed what they were made of, what their mind were like. It was way darker than what we have rn. Then we have god's menu - back door - thunderous era where they showed their music personality through mala taste genre. I feel like this oddinary era is a mix of the two concepts, we have the darker aura we've always had but with the spice and it's addictive fr. They're constantly bringing new fresh music without losing their roots.
You pointed it out very well how Lee know's maniac has a different feeling to it. To me , the way he sings it and even the way he makes his way to the center to perform, he embodies that word and what it is suppose to feel SO WELL!! While his vocals are strong, his dance- he hits each step with so much precision and a constant motion, which he creates with the head movements and the body moving in coordination. To best describe how he does it- it feels like he could go off the hook any time (like a maniac) with those movements BUT he doesn't. He holds his ground strong while creating such strong energy with his dance. He is a brilliant dancer and it can be clearly seen!!!!
Im wondering how much of an influence that the story of Frankenstein had on the song. Because discussions in literature about this story talks about how the creature is not the monster but rather Dr Frankenstein (its creator) or SOCIETY is the real monster. Plus I think there are caged birds involved in Frankenstein and there is a caged canary in the MV.
I've been following K-Pop GG for years but never got into BB. Stray Kids' Maniac is my first ever K-Pop BB M/V. I just freaked out, it blew me away. Had to be JYPE, of course. I find myself staning the whole Company by now.
I saw a comment somewhere that said Lee Know was dancing like he needed to pay the rent haha. His dancing is so fierce and powerful I always enjoy watching him and love all the attention he’s getting. I feel like I definitely have gotten to hear his vocals shine on this album as well. I very much enjoyed your reaction!
The whole album is amazing like usual, listening to it on repeat today. The distorted parallel world where everyone is ‘acting’ or ‘pretending’ to be normal was really shown in the MV (at least for me). The message to just be yourself is really encouraging, we are all odd is some way or another, and it is fine to be that way. There is so much I want to say in terms of analysis, interpretation and everting. Straykids will continue to go even higher!
I think I've mentioned it before, but this channel is my absolute favourite reaction channel. It's the perfect mix of educated analysis and just absolutely losing it over the idols killing a comeback. I always get to learn something while also going "RIGHT? LOOK AT THEM!"
Yesssss! They're incredible. Work so hard and everything is 🔥🔥🔥 So creative and powerful. Lee Know made me choke on my tea this morning lol... He's really shining in this one! I really hope they get chance to rest well during this busy comeback.
Honestly, the more I listened to it the more I liked it, and now I love the song so much. The chorus is just so good and catchy and I think the overall message of the lyrics is pretty dope too. The music video is awesome as always, I liked the emphasis on the bird, it added to the theme of the song/video. Lee Know and I.N had a lot of time to shine in this and I think they killed it. Can't wait for you to listen to the b-sides. They're all so good and the rapping especially was really top-tier (for me).
When I listened the unviels and teasers I remembered I thought the same analogy. If the last era felt like a bomb, ODDINARY feels like a scalpel. It's sharp, surgical and darker definitely. I think this is exactly why Lee Know shines with this particular music. His movements and voice feel like a dagger, he is very precise!
I totally didnt notice the synapses in the white part and that they were supposed to be inside the brain! This is why I love your vids PD, you always make me see things from a new perspective!
100% agree, the fact that they can come out with a total new and unique sound, but still have that classic stray kids style is amazing. This era feels like another big step into their career similar to how gods menu blew them up.
I’m really thrilled to see u reviewing skz’s content! This comeback is like another step for skz in their musicality, Maniac is such a refreshing new skz sound but at the same time u can still hear the “stray kids” color in it. Been watching them since predebut and everytime they comeback they brought us different things and always outdid themselves. The “Maniac” part between felix, hyunjin and lee know is like a course, felix being that heavy appetizer that will set ur taste, then hyunjin’s part is like the main dish that satisfies ur buds and lee know’s part is that dessert where u can’t help but feel so full... It just amazes me that these kind of artist exist in this generation, they always set the bar too high and then they easily leap on it in the smoothest way too. For me Stray Kids is such a rare, genuine artists. Makes me crazy listening to their music
mv was insane, and yeah minho literally ate this song i was iffy with skz from thunderous but i shall be back on my skz shi cuz this song is quite scrumptious
I relate so much to all your comments concerning the chorus, especially the ones about the use of Felix’s tone and the way Jisung says 돌아버리겠지. This may be my favorite Stray Kids title track so far.
just like to you, lee knows parts really stood out to me so much ofc in a positiv way. Ive always been a huge fan of his tone idek why it just speaks to me. I really have to draw the attention to the 2nd chorus at lee knows part again bc I'm literally so obsessed with the part just minho singing "maniac 비정상투성이 집단 manic" like the chorus you hear and the in the backroung the adlips by seungmin or I.N I'm not sure about that one "Ooo Ooo we´re maniac" it´s just perfect. They really outdid themselves once again
they definitely amped Danceracha's voice here. like they all did, but having danceracha center and take the chorus? Felix having more lines instead of a hook, Hyunjin using his angelic voice to be more twisted and seductive, and Lee Know has more "personality" in his voice and centers more 😭Also, so much tone variety as if signed in Stray Kids's signature. Han's sass, Changbin's intense rap into a bodyroll, Chan's notes, I.N dance solo??, Seungmin's mature voice And hell, that cackle in han's same is the same as KD God's Effects, the train from God's Ddududdudu, that folded world from hellevator, that parkour from Miroh, just the continuity of Stray Kids' worldbuilding and consistent message while serving a variety of dishes to serve it as-I just love Maniac so much because it shpwcases their growth 💯
Everytime I think SKZ can't possibly get any better, they drop something like this and I'm blown away each time 👏👏👏 They're basically showing us something new every single time which makes watching their journey as artists even more exciting ❣
I fell so so hard over lee know bcs of maniac, I watch all his maniac fancams every night before sleep 😭 And after finding out more about his personality he's truly a maniac 😭
For me, I think I.N killed this comeback idk why but his verses and just the way he delivers them are so good. He isn’t even my bias but when I heard his voice in the beginning, I was so excited
i love bang chan's vocals in the back, "you can't stop the smoke" etc. reminds me of chaeryeong's iconic "itzyyyy", it's so catchy and makes it a solid earworm !!!
Bangchan, the leader of Stray Kids, mentioned your channel during his Vlive, saying he watches a lot of your videos and that he's very thankful for all of the youtubers reacting to Stray kids' music
The song was great and I’ve always loved this side of them. And always a fan of Minho singing (people are crazy if they don’t think this is one of their best)
to be honest, Muddy Water is probably my favorite bside from Stray Kids yet. having an old school hip hop ear myself, it made me incredibly happy to hear the guys do something super unexpected, I.e returning to their old school, hip hop sounds 3racha did few years back. super super cool
I think, this sound and musical changes in this comeback is their strategy to reach out to mass audience. They already have a strong foothold with the existing fanbase, so its an obvious need to bring in more. This being said without denying they still stick to their identity.
I hope you know Bang Chan mentioned on a Vlive that he saw your reaction...I was super happy that he mentioned you because your reactions are a great feedback!

Jesus..... That's insane 😣 I really hope that they get to take a break from this and relax, all the groups need a break to destress and enjoy life?
'putting too much music"compared to other groups, yes. but I don't think they have other choice: since they haven't been able to tour I'm afraid they just have to bring money by releasing new albums. without it we probably wouldn't have got such high quality mvs. I also think they're aware of competition in kpop and are anxious about their future a bit, since we all know how short idol's career can be...
@spearbinnie 🔩 damn ,they might have to cancel the tour 😭
@spearbinnie 🔩 same here, I hope not but if need be that's fine with me if it's for their health
The fact that Lee Know, Felix, Hyunjin, and I.N. got such great center moments just tells me that this new era of SKZ is gonna be iconic
Lee know's part got me feel something too, good god I thought I am the only one who's addicted to his part in this song.
PD please have a listening party for Oddinary. The whole album is MIND-BLOWING, i think you would rave abt the rest of the tracks too 🤯
yes!!charmer and freeze are title track material!!
yesss pleaseeee
Cant agree more. The way we see lee know personality in many skz reality shows and he let it all out in this mv, we're so happy to see his lines getting more in killing parts.
OMG So true. LeeKnow's parts gave me feels on this MV.
I'm obsessed with this new song. I really love everything about it. the details in the video, the message, the aesthetic of the costumes and sets.. just everything. Also. Lee Know was absolute FIRE
lee know has really shone through this comeback
Love the lee know appreciation here he really killed it!!!!
Excited for what they do next this year
Lee Know is killing it this era!!! Everything abt this comeback is insANE and I LOVE it
Yes I love all of lee knows parts too! Especially the falsetto! 😍
YES I WAS WAITING!! THIS CB IS INSANE, AND THE WHOLE FREAKING ALBUMMM
Thank you for appreciating lee know so much! I definitely agree, he's very good in this era from his visual, dance, voice, I really like it all
Love it when you said Lee know you beast! Because is true!
Big Huge agree that Leeknow's part is the best. not even my ult but he's killing it this comeback.
Agreee lee know really shined so bright in this era
I've been following K-Pop GG for years but never got into BB. Stray Kids' Maniac is my first ever K-Pop BB M/V. I just freaked out, it blew me away. Had to be JYPE, of course. I find myself staning the whole Company by now.
I saw a comment somewhere that said Lee Know was dancing like he needed to pay the rent haha. His dancing is so fierce and powerful I always enjoy watching him and love all the attention he’s getting. I feel like I definitely have gotten to hear his vocals shine on this album as well. I very much enjoyed your reaction!
no for real i couldn’t i had my jaw on the ground everytime lee know opened his mouth he’s so eye-catching this comeback
Lee Know is the main character this era (and not just because I want him to be for once haha)
"Lee Know you beast" is a mood
I'm ridiculously obsessed with Maniac. It's addicting
Makes me crazy listening to their music
mv was insane, and yeah minho literally ate this song
i was iffy with skz from thunderous but i shall be back on my skz shi cuz this song is quite scrumptious
Stray Kids keep setting goals with their MV concepts.....seriously!!! 🤯🤯🤯
I relate so much to all your comments concerning the chorus, especially the ones about the use of Felix’s tone and the way Jisung says 돌아버리겠지. This may be my favorite Stray Kids title track so far.
maniac is so new and different but still so stray kids!! it’s really addictive i love it a lot !! and the album is amazing as well
it's almost unbelievable how good they are......
just like to you, lee knows parts really stood out to me so much ofc in a positiv way.
Han's sass, Changbin's intense rap into a bodyroll, Chan's notes, I.N dance solo??, Seungmin's mature voice
And hell, that cackle in han's same is the same as KD God's Effects, the train from God's Ddududdudu, that folded world from hellevator, that parkour from Miroh, just the continuity of Stray Kids' worldbuilding and consistent message while serving a variety of dishes to serve it as-I just love Maniac so much because it shpwcases their growth 💯
Stray Kids, and Lee Know in particular just keep get better and better with every cb
chan just said in his live that he loves watching your videos, that made me so happy 🤧
this song is EVERYTHING to me
Everytime I think SKZ can't possibly get any better, they drop something like this and I'm blown away each time 👏👏👏
They're basically showing us something new every single time which makes watching their journey as artists even more exciting ❣
Is it possible that this is an 11/10? The music video and the song are sooooo good.
I got to say why does Lee Know's part in the chorus was being said in a maniac way. Like you can really be convinced that he's in his maniac self.
I hope they release a video for Charmer because I would love to see your reaction to that song! Definitely my favorite on the album at the moment
Bangchan, the leader of Stray Kids, mentioned your channel during his Vlive, saying he watches a lot of your videos and that he's very thankful for all of the youtubers reacting to Stray kids' music
And their line distribution in maniac is very fair with I.N leading it. I love it very much.
The song was great and I’ve always loved this side of them. And always a fan of Minho singing (people are crazy if they don’t think this is one of their best)
im not even a stay and i loved this song sm !! i think this sound suits them really well
You know it's a bop when PD's face scrunches up like that😂🍾
to be honest, Muddy Water is probably my favorite bside from Stray Kids yet. having an old school hip hop ear myself, it made me incredibly happy to hear the guys do something super unexpected, I.e returning to their old school, hip hop sounds 3racha did few years back. super super cool
yes, very true- the way they set up the chorus is simply GENIUS
and also - SAME! I THOUGHT THE SECOND VERSE HAD A DIFFERENT BEAT, HOW DOES THIS WORK?!
I think, this sound and musical changes in this comeback is their strategy to reach out to mass audience. They already have a strong foothold with the existing fanbase, so its an obvious need to bring in more. This being said without denying they still stick to their identity.
Venom and Freeze could be strong contenders as title track for me, that's how good their producing skills.
I hope you know Bang Chan mentioned on a Vlive that he saw your reaction...I was super happy that he mentioned you because your reactions are a great feedback!
i cant wait for the listening party, i've said this too many times today but the units songs and Charmer are absolutely BOPS, honestly the whole mini album as well, 3racha are absolute geniuses and for the little time i've been a Stay SKZ never disappoints
