Jack Grealish will regret turning his back on ROI as England won't want to know him as he's now playing in the championship, he's fallen into obscurity now and he won't get anywhere near the England team now.

Ireland should concentrate on nurturing their own talent rather than poaching English players. Both Rice and Grealish were born in England and only qualified to play for Ireland through their grandparents. The team Ireland put on the field by Jack charlton in to 94 World Cup could have been an England B team. Ireland's top scorer is Tony Cascarino who qualified through an Irish grandparent; only to find out post career that he is adopted and does not have an Irish bone in his body.
A world class player like Mark Lawrenson who is Preston born could have turned England from a decent team into a team challenging for honours. Better to field Irish players who want to play for their country than players just not good enough to play for England or too young to realise they will be good enough to play for England.

Some have close relations like Mick McCarthy but some are way off like Steve Staunton (who famously didn't know ROI's own anthem at WC1994). It's the consequence of having a really weak professional league in Ireland and relatively few Irish players at EPL/SPL clubs . Ireland are acting like several African and Asian countries who scout Europe looking for eligible players because they can't produce their own.

Listen, if you don’t want to play for Ireland, that’s fine. I can accept it. England are better than us. But if you play for our youth teams at every level and then decide you’ll go to the enemy, that just speaks of your lack of appreciation towards the country that built you into the player you are. And if you don’t feel proud to pull on the green of Ireland, you can piss off to England for all I care. If you don’t want to play for Ireland and only see us as a last resort, don’t play for us. We want players who actually want to represent us in the first place. Not be England’s rejects team or a stepping stone for an England career.
