Kathy's version is still the definitive version, and this shows why. After 1/2 century, she's still incredible. Her voice is still magical and she's still smokin'. Nuff said.
I love Kathy's version, too, it's even better than the original by The Rivileers. However, for me personally, I favor the version by Linda Scott. Love the orchestration of that one. It seems to me that both Kathy Young and Linda Scott in addition to being great singers are also very nice and sweet
In 1960 I was a 5'5", 112 pound 12 year old boy that was flat out ga ga over Kathy Young's voice. Now, almost 50 years later, I'm a 6'4" 245 pound 61 year old happily married man. But watching this video -- I'M STILL GA GA ABOUT KATHY!!! Oh for the good old days! And thank you Kathy for keeping such great music alive! You still have such a great voice.
WOW!!!! Can't believe this is her original voice after all these yrs! wow she sounds an looks amazing!!! Both thumbs up without doubt! Atta girl Kathy!!!!!!!!!!
Karhy has remained petite like my wife of 45 years. Remember listening to WKBW when they went directional to the south at 1520 AM at night. Thanks for posting.
Great song and a beautiful lady with an angelic voice. Saw her on PBS last night and had forgotten about this song. Have played it a Thousand times since and can't wait to dance to it some day with my sweetheart!! And yes Kathy looks VERY HOT!!
Wow... wow. Kathy Young and the Innocents was on the turntable for my 1st "Slow Dance" in 1962. I had a huge crush on her then, and just as big a crush now. Did you know..... she recorded A Thousand Stars when she was 14 years old? Thank you for all Lady.
Kathy not only looks like an ice cream cone and dresses gorgeously, her voice is close to what it was when she was a teenager. She's still a singer with beautiful intonation, perfect pitch and a great sense of feeling.
Kathy is one of those artists that you can listen to over and over again. I would LOVE to see her in concert..this song is the greatest. Thanks Kathy for bringing to us.
God, I saw her and the Innocents at Pennsauken HS in NJ in 1964. I can't believe she still has those great pipes. Thank you so much for posting this. Joseph F
where has time gone, but in the garbage, we were so innocent then , even though we werent ! such a beautiful song , we are a fading flag still flying after the time . if only this generation could see the times past and to know its meaning and the heart felt moments we lived , oh the 50 and 60 if it hadent been for corea and vietnam this would have been the best , it was !
Everbody listens to the vocal and looks at her face, but watch the glimpse of her face as she walks off stage for the first walk off, she knows she still has it, but the audience tells her its true. When your hot your hot She's still got it in my book
Great talent. If I remember this song was a hit in 1961, I was a senior in high school, my girl friend's name was Kathy, we have been married for 47 years. I heard this song on Armed Forces Radio during the Cuban Missle Crisis, 1962 at night we could hear all the 50KWatt stations WLS, WOWO, WCF.L
This was the first song I danced with Joey back in 1961 at St. Camilius Church dance. He was so cute - "chubby" ha ha ha , but boy was I comfee in there, I didn't want to get out (smiloe). And you know what as it turned it, he would be the only man to dance a slow dance with me in my lifetime!
This honey is REALLY a BABE... I agree that she sounds even better now than she did at 14 when she recorded "A Thousand Stars." Whatever guy lassoed this lovely ought to be thanking HIS stars... Class of 1968

She was a teenager when she made this hit tune! And she sounds just as good! Looks awesome too. This is what 60 can look like, if you try hard enough:)
A great song from a very talented lady and one of the best voices of that era. It appears that she kept her looks also. What a moment in time for those of us who lived it ! Ron
There's a new PBS show being made the weekend of 5/21-23/10 in concert in Pittsburgh, PA and Kathy is on it along with many other great artists. The new PBS show should be aired before the end of the year.
I saw Kathy in Beaumont Texas at the city auditorium in 1960 and I met her back stage she was a very nice girl and she was traveling with her mother. I think she was about 16 years old as was I.
The school collected the most money(for the march of dimes) and won the concert, the dj was JERRY Stevens, there were other singers, but Kathy is the only one I remember.I want to thank you for this site, really brings back memories.
