4 years later and we haven't moved past this standard for the consoles

What also bothers me is Falcon's #2 point:
He brings up the opposing side's argument on how a lot of games have to be made with consoles in mind, thereby holding back a lot of those games' performance potential, but then doesn't bring it up again in his argument. He instead diverts to how the reason games are even funded at all is because of console gamers, since they're the majority demographic (except not, so we already know that's wrong). We know that consoles help with game funding, but Falcon doesn't even debunk the "myth" of the holding back of performance potential. He just decides to ignore it and tells us to be thankful that consoles keep games alive. Yea thanks for not leaving games to die, AAA companies, but you're still kind of holding them back from actually growing. The only exception I can think of is Nintendo: even though their consoles were never the best graphically, they actually try new things to push gaming's limits and bring a more unique/fun experience to players. Otherwise, I'm not very convinced that consoles holding back gaming's potential is just a "myth". But what do I know, I'm just a hipster PC gamer who thinks consoles are too mainstream.

What does control mechanics have to do with performance "potential"?
the whole majority/minority bullshit is lazy thinking used to make extreme cases easier to argue about. The majority of games are made for consoles? Who the fuck cares. The actual point is that there are games made with only consoles in mind just as there are games made with just PC or just mobile in mind.
As for performance potential, the lowest common denominator will be what holds back the top performance. All PC-only games are held back by their minimum required specs. No single game will ever be made just for the topend hardware.

I stoped watching gameranx reviews a long long time ago...
They are not honest, and they take bribes from big Corporations...
They are promoting games, because they are paid by this big corporations. Not because these games are any good...

The Unity Engine is free and uses C, Java, and Python and I am sure more programming languages. When you finish a build, you can decide where you want to play the game.

Your "points" about Steam as store does not mean consoles don't get Steam level sales. You just badly described how you think Steam and publishers interact. That isn't a comment on any kind of sales events be it from the publishers or from the retailer.
Myth: "Consoles don't have Steam level sales."
Fact: "Consoles sometimes have sales that are as good as Steam"
You:"Consoles don't have Steam level sales"
    The fuck?

ArsenicSteel00 my point with that segment was not that “steam level sales” don’t happen on console, I even said that they do happen. My point was that great sales happen far more frequently and from far more sources on the PC than they do on console. A “steam level sale” isn’t just the actual discounts but the frequency itself (and generally speaking steam does get larger discounts as well).
