Why would you ever target and eat a Garrick? Pignose Grunters are also under huge pressure and their numbers have plummeted. Used to catch them all the time and now haven't caught one in years. You guys should really consider what you are taking out of the ocean.
Garrick are really good eating with a lovely large fillet. Us shooting one Garrick and one Pignose is 100 times more sustainable than eating any I&J, or any other commercial fish product. We do agree, these are special fish to us too hence featuring them in our video.
Nice footage, but a bit contradictory I would say... Why mention the garrick and then still show footage of one getting speared? 🤔 If everyone takes just 1 fish that is under immense pressure as you say, which it certainly is, then it is 1 fish too many!!!
Thank you, we support sustainable spearfishing. That is most definitely true, hence we recommend limiting your catch and not catching your limit. We took one Garrick instead of 4 (the limit between us) which it more sustainable. We just want people to be mindful of the stock pressure and to take only what they need, this Garrick fed us for a month.
