      @salil panwar hahah.
      Criticizing someone is way to much easy.
      I'm saying again if it was easy lot of nation would have did it already.
      In 50s India have different set of challenge.
      Priority was to feed people than to develop net engine.

      @salil panwar The first jet engine powered flight happened in 1939 just after the WWII started. 1960 saw the beginning of crystal blade tech. Single crystal came in 1974. So where is India behaving stupid for last 70 years as you say ? And where is Neheru coming into picture? I hate Neheru from the bottom of my heart for many reasons - one of them being HAL MARUT case. But I don't appreciate someone abusing India unjustifiably which was impoverished by the British and comparing her to USA who gained the most from WWI and is an independent nation for more than 200 years.

    • @r8rdarklord
      @r8rdarklord 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think India should even try to manufacture jet engines. At the scale that we require it's not a viable project. Unless we need 5000 engines in the near term the cost of manufacture + R&D will be overwhelming.

    • @rangpo8935
      @rangpo8935 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@r8rdarklord bro this project is not under a private company. Do you think government companies really care about viability and product of scales.
      Hell No!
      It will be a strategic asset of India just like nukes!! They have already spent millions on it.

    • @r8rdarklord
      @r8rdarklord 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rangpo8935 It has nothing to do with private or public. It has to do with cost of the component - this is the reason why IAF has been dragging its feet when it comes to buying Tejas Mk1A.
      The fact is that at lower production rates the cost of fighter jets escalate to levels where the same money can buy much better fighter jets. India is not the US, it has a limited budget & a very large force to feed. They can't afford to keep pouring money on science experiments.

    • @r8rdarklord
      @r8rdarklord 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Abhishek Kathiat Yes, we will be dependent so what? We don't manufacture car engines either except for some in very limited measures. That has not stopped us from developing motor vehicles. Our focus should be to manufacture an LCA comparable to Gripen NG, trying to do too many things at the same time will result in a mediocre fighter jet. This will give IAF the excuse to reject indigenous fighter jet & go for imports.

    • @r8rdarklord
      @r8rdarklord 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Abhishek Kathiat You can disagree all you want but what has been stated is an engineering fact. For low volumes, one doesn't manufacture every component but concentrate on strategic ones & do it well - the idea is to create a world-class fighter jet, which can take on the best from China & Pakistan. During combat, nobody cares how many indigenous components your fighter jet has.

Need sincere commitment from all different department of specialists. Really hope that we are able to resuscitate the Kaveri K9 by improving it's hot core and material design with the help of Safran, which could hopefully use the plough back amount that is to be reinvested in India as a part of the 50% rule in the Rafale's acquisition of ₹59,000 crore.
    If that is unworkable, then we should leave Kaveri K9 as it is, and simply think of it as a sunk cost in trying to understand jet engine technology for our GTRE scientists.
    We should then fully commit ourselves to the brand new 110/120/130 KN joint venture jet engine with RR or Safran, and try to bring it to life within 5-6 years of starting out.

    Compare the specs of F404 and Kaveri K9, GTRE is almost there!
    K9 is better than F404 in some ways i.e. Lower Pressure ratio and Lower Turbine Inlet Temperature means lower maintenance and better life, and Lower SFC means better mileage; While using not-so-advanced parts!
    Go, Go GTRE!
    One more thing, please show how all these compare to F-35A's P&W F-135 engine, as it is almost equally sized to Kaveri and F404

    Can India develop a commercial turbofan engine for commercial variant of future Saras aircraft from dry core of Kaveri Engine ? This can give a boost to Indian Aviation sector.

    India ko engine ke field me revolution lana chahiye ek bade level par engine ke r&d par rs kharch karna chahiye private sector ko bhi sath lena chahiye. Ek akeli company ke liye ye sab muskil hoga.
