    Great commentary and walk around. Thank you for uploading. I’m the Corsa B owner and the last time you saw it was at Gilks Cafe. You were right to think that was probably the correct wheel trims. I finally found them - took a year! All the missing features from the Furious video to be authentic phase 1 LS are finally there. Such a great day out. Look forward to watching your other parts!

    Hi, I was in the Wartburg in front of you. Its a later 4 stroke version with a VW derived 1.3 engine, similar to the Polo but not a Polo engine.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's really strange. I thought it sounded like a two stroke. But clearly I was wrong, hence why we call these Slightly Shambolic Shuffles and apologise for all the mistakes that will inevitably happen at the beginning of each video. What is the difference between the Volkswagen and Wartburg engines?

    • @Mickhanic-garage
      @Mickhanic-garage ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@lloydvehicleconsulting the sound from the pair of 2 strokes in front of me would have been easy to hear.. the 4 stroke is very quiet in comparison.

    • @Mickhanic-garage
      @Mickhanic-garage ปีที่แล้ว +1

      VW got involved in the 80s to develop the 4 stroke car. From what I understand the original 1272cc Polo engine was to be built under licence with associated costs. Wartburg redesigned the engine with minor differences so it was no longer the same engine although very similar. This meant no licence fee to pay as it was now no longer the same.. as I say that's my understanding of it.

    Nice to see a Cortina S. I was given one of these for free in 1992. It was awful, it used to be silver but all the lacquer had gone so it was grey. It had a vinyl roof but by the time it got to me the majority of it had escaped leaving surface rust before people used to like that sort of rat look. The spotlights were nothing more than rusty bowls and the interior had disgusting furry seat covers that I removed and refitted such was the diabolical state of the seats underneath. I had it for a handful of weeks before it got nicked, but the police recovered it. They called me to tell me I could collect it and so I jumped on the bus excited to get my future FOTU exhibit back. In hindsight I should have suspected all was not well at the amount of grinning coppers that were watching as I was led to it. They had found it in the sea, it was full of sand and litter, stank to high heaven and it’s windscreen was smashed and the back window had popped out and was placed on the back seat. Surrounded by sniggering Plod I told them they could keep it and went back home on the bus. I replaced it with another car in the concours ring, the desperado spec Metro for £110. Beat the seller down from £300 👍

The Justy and Galant are my two favourites; the Galant is a five door which did not make it into the US, and I drove a Justy with a CVT well over thirty years ago. Good to see Last year's and local to me Sam and his Astra Merit.
    Nice to see a K11 Micra In the Concours area, going to hazard a guess maybe a L trim level.
    Love the comaraderie between you and Mr Richardson.
    I think the alloys on the blue K11 Micra as you say are a optional extra.
    My dad had a mark 2 fiesta Popular Plus so the poverty spec dash brings back many memories.
    There's my favourite car there the mark 6 Escort Mexico only thing that bugs me is the wheel trims are not the correct ones to the car but I can forgive it for that.

    Splendid! It's funny how a car's colour and finish can affect my opinion: I usually don't like Ford's but the maroon Ford Fiesta (Meridian) at 16:39 looked "pretty" and somehow elegant.
    I felt a bit down when I saw the Rover 214i at 18:40. I bought a Rover 214 in 1995 but someone purloined it before I even drove it 😓. The one in the video looks good in that green colour.

    Ever since a neighbour owned a Wartburg Knight for many years in the 80s I have loved the shape.
    I used to get to school in a 1978 Chrysler Alpine 1300 GL and I regularly drove a well worn 1981 Talbot Solara 1300 and I can assure you that they are comfortable, reliable and economical. They also hang on pretty well in the corners.
    The Corsa B still looks like a very cute little car 30 years later.
    The Mk4 Cortina 2000 S is a forgotten performance saloon that was very quick indeed.
    The Mk4 Ford Escort was a big step up in quality and a far better drive than the Mk3. The Orion Mk2 in particular is a great car. Check out Mr Richardson's Mk2 Orion review.
