I was quite surprised when a viewer commented on one of my videos about some mysterious Warriors books they had found. While digging, I found even more interesting books - ones that are ... problematic.. in my opinion.
In this video I will be going down the rabbit hole of mysterious knockoff books that have invaded the market.

I really think it would be cool if a bunch of artists teamed up and made an actually original fan coloring book.
I don’t know for sure but I believe HarperCollins was cracking down on commercial fan creations after their official merch shop launched. (Not sure if they’re still actively doing it tho)

you should check out zines! they're not coloring books but they're really cool because a bunch of artists collaborate to make a book with drawings and stuff
Yep would be nice but probably wouldn't be affordable for normal day to day people. Not saying it's not justified, considering artists work hard, just saying there's probably no use publishing one because only a select few people would be able to buy em

My local library has both a copy of Mapleshades Vengeance and a copy of Ravenpaws farewell. Never knew that they weren’t officially published till now.

@@puppydogs68 Ah, if you watch the video, it explains these kinds of special books began as eBooks before the company realized it was more profitable to sell physical copies of them, so they’d _only sell them in a 3-in-1 book_ (3 stories in 1 book).
If you have a physical copy of a special like _Mapleshade’s Vengeance_ and it’s _only_ the one story (without two others to pair with it), then it’s not official.
So technically speaking, they _are_ officially _published_ by HarperCollins; they’re just not officially _printed,_ because it’s supposed to be physically printed with 2 other stories _only,_ and unofficial copies don’t follow that rule.

The artist you mentioned that had lots of stolen pages was River Spirit. They have a TH-cam channel where they upload map parts and speed paints

I knew I recognized that style from somewhere! River Spirit was one of my biggest inspirations back in the day.
A funny fun fact: Germany is one of the countries that has a lot of translated books from the warriors series.
We don't have books that combine 3 Novellas into one book. We only have the Novellas separated if you buy them physically. Whch I think (now knowing that's not as easy for you guys to get) is pretty neat but likely also more expensive lmao-
Edit: Also the artist that popped up in the stolen colouring book a lot looks VERY much like river spirit :,)

They started doing them together too. This year they released the novella from Goosefeather, Pinestar and Thunderstar together into one book

What's funny to me is that River Spirit, the artist who had a lot of art traced and stolen, has been a popular Warriors artist for _years._ I instantly recognized not only their style but their main OC characters, since the amazon seller for some reason traced the very specific markings her character has under her eyes.
I actually saw a random fan made book about a deaf warrior, it was something like (insert warrior name)’s journey

i love fan made books, especially if they have a similar writing style to the actual series, because it feels like i'm reading an actual warrior cats book.

I actually have one of these coloring books. I got one as a gift for Christmas when i was OBSESSED with the books. I skimmed through and yeah its mainly the same art in your book. But I didn't see those funky backgrounds like in yours. Now having more knowledge I feel terrible for the artists who were stolen from. And that thing wasn't cheap it was around 30 dollars

I myself am from the Netherlands and here we don’t have the three-in-one novellas. For us the novellas were released separately, with a new cover for it and everything (and translated to dutch of course)
So i was really surprised to hear they were never officially released like that! You learn something new everyday 😆

One of my old libraries, from my first college, had almost all the novellas in physical form. I'm kinda curious if they knew those were bootlegs.
The Dutch versions of the warrior cat books actually have non-bootleg novellas. Since I know so little about the English releases I didn’t even know these books were not released seperately from eachother originally. These books used to be exclusive to one bookstore but I am not sure if they ar anymore since I haven’t bought any of the books in a while.
Do you mwan the short stories like Mapleshades vengance? We also have them as singular books under the grouping "Short Adventure" here in germanz

I think i might have gotten a bootleg warriors book. I'm not sure, but i got it at a used bookstore and compared to the other books the words are much bigger. some words also didn't print the best- so i think i got a bootleg copy from a used book store unknowingly.

I have found a warrior books in Goodwill. On it says uncorrected proof not for sale. It’s the new prophecy series Midnight, Dawn & Moonrise.

A lot of the stolen artwork looks like River Spirit’s. Back when I was in middle school I remember their art was VERY prone to theft and tracing.

Unfortunate they're selling Riverspirit's art in some cheap coloring book. Like even if it's their older art it's still their work and i sure wouldn't want to have my art be sold for profit without permission.
I was waiting for a video like this, it was very entertaining! Though I would pay a lot to see some abominable bootleg WC book, that is it's own story (you know, like those Chinese Harry Potter knock-offs). Or some knock-off WC-like franchise in general. Imagine all the memes and crossovers we could make.

I have the physical Goosefeather's Curse and Mapleshade's Vengeance!! My grandpa bought them for me ages ago, not sure how much he paid but defiantly not over 100$. I thought the odd formatting and random blank pages were strange, interesting to know why!
I didnt know that those novellas werent stand alone because in the german version almost all are stand alone(And they arent fake bootlegs)

i agree, the novellas grouped together arent around the same time in the books, so if i want to read Mothwing's secret, i also have to read about Tree and Pebbleshine, who i havent read about yet because i am only on the power of three.

Never thought that I would see bootleg novels of all items.
I have a version of Firestar's Quest where the printing is completely messed up. Basically once you're done reading one page and go to the next, it starts the page by SKIPPING AN ENTIRE PARAGRAPH OR 2 that's supposed to be in the original. It does this for the entire book, so it's horribly disjointed and has some blank pages on the back left over due to this.
As a Petz Dogz 2 player, I approve the soundtrack.
I actually have a lot of dreams about Warriors bootlegs, for some reason! I'll be at a used bookstore when I'll come across a book I don't recognize. The cover will be totally unique and the text is filled with typos. Some are reprints of existing Warriors books and some are like, fanfiction? Future releases? Who knows.

The novella’s are actually published separately here in the Netherlands! They’re called mini editions over here, and are small little books, a bit smaller than a paperback

My aunt unknowingly brought me one of these warrior cats coloring books 😂 the book looked almost the same with just a bunch of fan artwork. I might still have it in my room or smth. But it’s just horrible that there are people out there who are stealing other fans artwork to sell books.
In germany the novellas are sold outside of the bundle completely officially, I didn't even know about the bundle till now

I once bought an unofficial wings of fire coloring book and it had how to train your dragon images in it so yeah that was kind of weird. Also if a artist signed their name underneath the art it was removed because I recognized some of the pieces and I knew those pieces had the artists name underneath them.

My mother got me one of those coloring books for christmas. I was very grateful, but for one, I don't like coloring books, and two.. yeah, stolen art. I told her I didn't really want it and she was okay with that. Sucks to see people art being stolen for coloring books. I'd hate it if I wasn't asked, too.

Got an $100 dollar blanket from my dad in the mail, and while it was awesome, everytime i look at it, i feel bad for the artist. also.. i swore i saw a poorly made tshirt on ebay ripping off the official tigerstar one using the mini maker

I5pretty sure it wasn’t a bootleg, but I found a… weird version of into the Wolf in my school library. The cover wasn’t the same. It was a ginger cat ( an actual image of one ) with a uhm… with a human nose… yeah, it’s weird. The back ground was a burning desert with zebras and elephants…. Yeah, pretty weird

Another thing is that on Amazon there are LOTS of stolen art work pieces as stickers?! I got some gas a gift but they are cheap quality and stolen.

I have a owl house colouring book that I got for my b-day a couple years back and now I have just watched this video soon on my warriors account I will finally be posting art I have done animations but those of realistic cat pngs so animations I guess two. On my first account i have done animations and art before. And I am on the amino with my art and it is sad to see artist art on these books I am so very thankful that this has not happened to me. Fanfictions aren't bootlegs! Bootleg books are straight up stolen or copied works while fanfictions are usually just written by people not for profit
this is surprising, I only ever read the first book series and second halfway when I was younger and then just dropped it cuz it wasnt all that good. Moved on to high fantasy with 11... why would someone make a bootleg of this
