I was having a bad night, feeling overwhelmed with my job and my body just feeling exhausted. I could not calm my mind into a relaxed state. Suddenly Bob Ross came to my mind and I decided to look up some videos. Now, after this episode, I'm calm and relaxed. Thank you, Bob!

Technically it was prussian blue to white...giving us the light blue, which is lighter in value.

+El Javi I couldn't agree with you more. I cannot explain it, but there is something about this show that is so relaxing and fun to watch. Maybe its his afro, or his soothing voice, or the sound of the knife hitting the pallette, or washing the 2 inch brush, I just don't know. I hate cancer.

Whenever I’m feeling anxious and can’t sleep (the night before a test), I put on Bob Ross. His kindness always warms my heart and makes me smile through the whole video. I find myself much calmer and sleepier. Thank you, thank you, thank you

I must admit that I am never going to paint, nor do I have any desire to do so; but to watch this man demonstrate his techniques, to create a beautiful painting in less than 30 minutes, in a calming voice I can listen to indefinitely, is reason enough to keep me watching him, as I have been,for decades. Mr Ross,you are sorely missed by a lot of people, and the world is a much sadder place without you. Rest in peace my friend, and God bless. 😢😢😢

i have never painted a day in my life and i have painted two canvas's today watching these vids, i did not expect them to look good AT ALL and dont get me wrong, they are not great like his paintings but i feel really surprised by how good mine actually turned out, plus i didnt think of killing myself the whole time,thanks bob your a great man
That’s how I started my friend. I hope you got better and better as I did and have some work that your really proud of. I fell off the painting recently but I just started again over this Christmas weekend and got 2 new paintings out of it.

When I did GCSE Art class, I used to secretly beat my brush (so the teacher didn't see) on the table leg to clean and dry it, only now as I watch Bob do i realize that I was right in doing so.

I usually have a cold beer whilst watching, then I paint. One of these days, I'll be 1/1000th the painter he was. And even though I'm not a good painter, it makes me happy. And according to Mr. Ross, that's all that matters.

I'm always grateful for the teachings of Bob Ross as even this technique for this medium can be modified for other mediums. For instance, I'm making a couple pieces that involve colored pencils. Some things have to be rearranged. Like, doing an image of this on white is backwards with dark colors on white paper.
I always like it when Bob Ross uses the Black Canvases and then uses Pthalo Blue, Prussian Blue, Pthalo Green, and Sap Green.

An incredible value to listen initially , then take the plunge . Watched Bob for many hours over a year or so then discovered I could do it . Tremendous value and joy can be had - sometimes the canvas gives back much more than you expected and this is the way we receive our encouragement - Like he said we can discover our very own place when doing this technique and it can be very rewarding plus we get to impress our friends :) Sold my first one very recently .
Thought since we have a blue moon this month, I'd just try to paint this. God bless bob ross!

this is always so inspiring and calming. i like doing stuff with this in the background, whether it'd be leatherwork, woodcarving or plain, old pencil drawing, bob makes my work better.
I really enjoyed this one! Took another painters advice and let it sit overnight to put in the palm trees. For my skill level this really seemed to help give me more control

Speaking of dryer, firmer paint... if you take your modern/affordable paints such as Gamblin 1980 or W & N Winton oil lines, if you put the different colors you're going to use onto a piece of cardboard before you work, the cardboard starts pulling out the oil binder thereby giving you a dryer/firmer paint to use. Trust me. Try it with your white for the mtn snow and watch it skip.

Yeah Gamblin 1980 has been hit or miss on the quality of the paint fresh outta the tube so far. But I've had great luck with WInton!
He had a finished painting at 14:25 but he kept going and made it even better by adding ONE FUCKING STONE OMG. And then A TREE HOW?!
He just loved to make the producer nervous, It had to be within a certain time frame, so often he made big trees close the ending of the show, just to see the producer bite nails and tear the hair out, he knew exactly how long time it would take to make it, so he was quite calm about it
How does Bob do that? Talk about hurricanes calmly and softly, like it’s no big deal. He talks about it like it’s a fond memory of growing up in Florida. “They’d blow us about for days”.
