I use to be in the IEP program back in elementary, because I was horrible at math. It’s crazy how looking back on the stuff it was pretty basic, but anything related to math always delivered pressure to me. I am currently a freshman that’s pretty pretty slow and can’t catch up in algebra 1, but every other class is easy for me. If I had special attention or someone to help me whenever I have homework, assignments, and also helping me study for test and quiz I’d feel like all of my classes would be balanced. To all the people in the same grade as me or younger, I’d recommend this program since things will always get harder and you should use your resources.

Hello, I just watched your video and found it very very informative. I was looking for the second part of this subject could you point me in the right direction. I'm helping a family out who is having a hard time with the school evaluation.

My 7 year old grandson has been diagnosed with ODD and ADHD and has had a long history of documented behaviors at school (Brockport School District), impulse control, bullying, threatening, hurting other children, stealing, etc. He has had a 504 Plan for years and is not receiving proper supports. I requested an IEP for him for pull-out therapy, a 1:1 aid during transitions and counseling. The school denied him an IEP because his ODD are only happening during transitions, specials, lunch and on the bus, while his behavior in the classroom and grades are average. In my opinion, the school is ignoring his disability and I am looking for an ODD expert who would be willing to consult on this matter as I appeal the school's decision. I am also hoping to find an attorney who has experience with dealing with ODD and the school system. Any help would be appreciated!

Was your grandson sick with possible strep throat when his ODD behavior started?
Look into PANDAS linked to untreated strep throat infection... during covid, I didn't hear about 1 positive strep throat diagnosis... that's because they weren't testing anybody! That would of been up to 3 years ago.. so he would of been 4 right? Was his behavior like that at 4 yrs old?

So thank you for this info im currently struggling to get my son an IEP done. He’s about to turn 5 at the end of the month based on what your saying I have to let the school observe his learning and behavior first to see if he qualifies for one? He’s going in to kindergarten and I’m so scared he will be in a massive classroom and won’t be able to focus and learn. So do I just tell the school he hasn’t had a IEP done yet and I would like to have one for him? Let me know #firsttimemom #imreallynotgoodatthis #help

I would also look into an ifsp if they are 3 or younger. I was able to get an ifsp and iep for my son by age 3 to make kindergarten a smoother process. You can send the district a letter requesting this and stating your concerns to get the ball rolling.

You shall have a disability that adversely affects your academic performance-but then how will you determine if a student’s disability hinders his/her progress in the general education? Complex process
