Heard him with a guitar in a small crowded coffee shop downtown Saskatoon before Starbucks took over, thought to myself I’ll always want to hear this even after he becomes famous, thought he’d pick up a band soon too, to colour the songs in his head ❤️🇨🇦🌾
I agree that this is one of the most beautiful songs on a more than brilliant album. But I wouldn't say it is an underrated album. Andy has a big audience and the album really achieved high acclaim by critics. It's beauty grows and grows and grows...
There is truly something powerful happening there. Nothing goes on but it's all there. In this immobility, fragile stability that is way more beautiful that if he was waving his whole body to the melody. So amazed to discover this great artist. And the band that just suits him so well.
This is the same ensemble he is touring with right now. That clarinet duo played on all the songs in the set. I guess they made arrangements for them that worked on all his songs. One of the best shows I've seen in long time. If he comes your way do yourself a favor and go!
Kevin Nickerson it's also the last song on the album. Kind of the end of the night at a party when you're really drunk and find a girl and just slow dance with her. Pretty gorgeous song.
he's singing to and about the one he can't have, as he goes on about life going through the motions, never able to really feel, martha is just a place holder.

:/ sad to hear Starbucks took over.. but happy you got to see him long before. Keep with the thoughts to color the songs.
Nice to hear this song live, it's probably my favorite from an incredibly underrated album.

Agreed, one of the greatest albums I have ever heard, for real.
That album won awards lol
Lol not underrated at all
Not underrated, just criminally unknown.

play on 0.75 speed to bring your resting heart rate down to aprox 30 bpm
tried this, loved it, forgot about it, and later thought that the hosts of a podcast were drunk and slurring their words for an hour
Just keep being you Andy
The 4 dislikes are all Marthas who feel used
I love that peacefulness in his songs and his performance, in that way it's very rarely seen. Just very very great!
This voice is melting my bones. It's incredible how sweet you sound.
This song breaks my heart.
But then Andy releases new music, and it’s put back together.
My name is Martha and I dig this song haha
My name is Mike and I dig this song hoho
What a great clarinet part! Don't recall that on the album version.

Fuck me this is sooo goood
Could someone explain the meaning in this song for me?
He's singing about a girl at a party that closely resembles one of his previous lovers.
Thanks man

@@JamesAMichals id even argue that its about him realizing that he's moved on. despite some lingering memories
New genre! Nerd Folk!
Accidental asmr
I can stop listening to him. His voice has this strange narcotic effect delivering majical word images via an IV drip
wow
