I recently decided to start taking better care of my skin and have been overwhelmed by all the products and sales hype online, so your authoritative presentation was just the ticket...and fun to watch! The pore diagram was a great visual, and your descriptions made product choice easy. So glad I discovered Doctorly!
I felt this!! It’s going to be a lot of research in the beginning. I’m relatively new to skincare as well and I recommend learning how to read the ingredients of products. Learn the most common good and harmful chemicals (it can also help with decision making). Also the basic and must have products for skincare is cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. (Cerave hydrating cleanser and moisturizer is what I personally use and it works great). As for sunscreen.. it’s the one of the most hardest to find a good one
I noticed “diet” was not discussed. 🧐 Staying hydrated can really make your skin glow! Staying away from greasy fried and fatty foods is a good idea. Choosing healthier food options, such as fruits and vegetables, can also help keep skin clear and promote healthy skin. For example, strawberries, citrus fruits, and healthy fats from fish can promote collagen production!😉Getting enough sleep is important to for “rest and recovery”. Paired with a good skin care routine and the wonderful knowledge shared in this video will definitely increase the health of your skin!🥰🫶
Yes! Cutting processed foods and carbs has helped my skin so much that it has encouraged me to pursue better skin finally at the age of 54. Bought their Remedy for Pore Size and saw results after the first use. Really upping my skin care game!!
I had no idea that sun enlarged pores. I thought their size was predetermined by your DNA and all you minimize is their appearance by cleaning them. Very cool. You guys should bring in visuals like that more often!
It does, unfortunately. I felt it after spending some years in a country located on the equator. Also insanely high humidity plus heat creates this constant sauna effect...😢
This is why Asians don't like to be under the sun 😂 its not really about skin color (the sun robs you clean of collagen, and give you back pigmentation issues 😢)

Honestly, my skin has never looked this good. Whether it was breakouts or rough texture, the subliminal affirmations on borlest helped smooth everything out. It’s amazing how much has changed!
Your guys tip in another video has really helped my skin. I do the paulas choice bha toner, but I rinse it off after 15 minutes. My skin just can't do the leave on treatments. Now my skin is exfoliated, and it's really helping with my skin turnover and removing that oil and excess sebum.
I have always heard mixed reviews of gua sha and I understand why, because sometimes it is claimed to do particular things that it can't, and there aren't a lot of scientific studies on it. But when you spoke of microneedling helping to build collagen by healing from damaging, it sparked my thought that maybe gua sha could do something similar? Any thoughts on this idea? Love the scientific background of all this as I am a nurse, so scientific explanations help to make me more confident in anything. Thank you for sharing!
Just don’t murder it… you have you be gentle. Instead of a red volcano for the day, now you have a tiny little red spot. Sometimes there’s nothing at all!!
Nice simple routine options at the end. I appreciated that. I have just gotten into the idea of skin care at 39 yr old (3 months) and I am noticing improvment, though I wish it was faster. But, hearing you name the ingredents I've been trying... I'm guess I'm on the right path. Retinoid, vitamin C, and Nicin - I just have been using different brands (Inky List, The Ordinary mostly, with a little Vichy)

100%+ stand by the idea here (based on my personal experience)... Day=Salicylic acid cleaner+vit c+sunscreen... Night=salicylic acid cleaner+vit A... However, I am still negating Niacinamide because it makes my skin too dry and itchy everytime. Maybe it's my skin or maybe it's too much with vit c and a.
Omg. Soooo back when I was a teenager I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup so I wouldn’t wear sunscreen on my face on purpose so I can get the natural blush. It was really pretty because for some reason I only burn on my nose and cheeks. But I totally regret it now 😢🥺

The information that I wanted to know for years! You guys cannot imagine how important is this for us who suffer from large pores. Are all the bits you recommended (from the grey side panel) and products, breastfeeding safe? Thank you!!
I think I hold the world record for pores. My face is a huge pore, literally. There is no more than 0.01 mm of actual skin between each pore, I dont even know how I still have a face my skin is literally and I mean L.I.T.E.R.A.L.L.Y just pores, and no real skin. I cant even imagine what life would be like without them! I dont ever leave my home ever ever ever, I dont go stay at my uncles whenever my family visit I stay home, whenever they go for food I stay home, I don't even try and look for a job because I dont want to be around people, I just sit in my room all day everyday watching these videos and stressing out every second of the day, I'm only 25 and I have about 10% grey hairs on my thinning, receding hair! My whole life is just stress anxiety depression!! It hurts to look in mirrors!! I avoid certain mirrors in my home to the point I'll turn my head the opposite way or look down and close my eyes so I dont get a glimpse of the real me, that would ultimately send me to my bed crying (btw did I mention I'm a 25 year old man, yeah this stuff has me crying like a baby!!!) I just dont understand how nothing can shrink pores its 2021 and I have to continue to live like this, I'm being 100% serious right now in saying I dont want to live like this much longer. Its worrying knowing I could quiet easily end it all probably this year as I've suffered from these problems since atleast 16. I also suffer from extreme mental health and paranoia probably comes from my skin condition. I have no money to do anything about it, but I dont have any motivation because I know theres nothing out there that will ultimately cure my condition, so I dont like to get my Hope's up. Basically I live in a dark place (literally lights out curtains closed) and my mind is in a dark place and only ever gets worse which is hard to believe as I'm struggling more than imaginable right now. It's highly likely no one will read this, and if you do a reply is not necessary, I just felt like I had to write this and get it out of my mind for a moment

I'd just like to say one thing, if you could suggest us budget friendly alternative products of the products you've shown in this video... That would be real help!
Honestly, my skin has never looked this good. Whether it was breakouts or rough texture, the subliminal affirmations on borlest helped smooth everything out. It’s amazing how much has changed!
This might be the best skincare video I’ve ever watched :-)
Very informative. As a newly esthetic grad who suffers from very visible pores herself, I second this message.
Love your videos so much!! As an acne sufferer and medical student alike - so helpful in both situations! Even making me consider dermatology :)
Your guys tip in another video has really helped my skin. I do the paulas choice bha toner, but I rinse it off after 15 minutes. My skin just can't do the leave on treatments. Now my skin is exfoliated, and it's really helping with my skin turnover and removing that oil and excess sebum.
This video was so informative & helpful! I appreciate the time you’re taking to break down these topics 🙌
Found this useful for my old pot ridden skin. Thank you
I have always heard mixed reviews of gua sha and I understand why, because sometimes it is claimed to do particular things that it can't, and there aren't a lot of scientific studies on it.
I wish I discovered your videos ages ago, but I'm so glad I did now. This was so helpful!
I used to not have large pores, and now I have gotten them over the years. I hate having large pores, they are super noticeable
How did you do it ???
how did you do it?? (2)
Just don’t murder it… you have you be gentle. Instead of a red volcano for the day, now you have a tiny little red spot. Sometimes there’s nothing at all!!
Thanks Guys, the most helpful part for me was when you laid the timeline of “months” out!
I just found out about you and I could not be happier, you’re great at explaining and this was really helpful. Thank you
Could you do a video on reducing forehead and 11 lines?? And the best products and ingredients for reducing and preventing them?? Thanks!
YES PLEASE 👏🏽🙌🏽👍🏽💯👍🏽👌🏽
this has to be the greatest skincare video eveeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, and I am the one to never actually comment on videos but this deserves it !!!!!thank u
okay, definitely not only your best video, but THE BEST video about this issue, really informative. Thank you guys, love seeing true professionals talking about skincare. btw, I dont know if you guys already did a video about it (i just found this channel), but I would love to see you guys talking about vegan, organic skincare, your opinions, if it's good or effective, and things like that
Gosh. As a man, nobody taught me these. You guys are very helpful. I'm gonna use your tips to teach my boys how to take care of their skin!
And you presented it in a scientific way! A PLUS!
Loved the visuals and thorough explaining of everything! I find all of your videos really informative and easy to understand! Thank you guys! Keep up the great work! 🙌🏻💞
Thank you so much! Glad you found it helpful!
I just want to say your videos have been so helpful to me, thank you. Your videos are not only informative but I enjoy the banter between the two of you. Keep em coming!
You guys are amazing, i even took notes !
Some of these things i've never heard of before. You made an amazing job explaining and getting the information out clearly and structured.
I actually came here after watching your video "skincare you don't need" (which was totally awesome too). I had a laugh when you said that you liked the video so much but nobody watched it.
Keep on going guys, you are so cool, I'm definitely subscribing !
this channel deserves a million subscriber ❤️its very informative ! and sometimes a comedy show ! 😂
Did you guys always know you wanted to become dermatologists? Love your vids! They’re very helpful 👍
Thanks Jesse! We actually both trained in other specialties first (me in radiology and Dr Maxfield in internal medicine)! I never thought I’d be a dermatologist, let alone a doctor haha it’s been a weird path for both of us to get here but somewhat serendipitous
Doctorly I love watching your videos ! I’m training to become a radiographer too but I’m really into dermatology but I feel like the route will be really difficult. How did you find studying medicine?
@@Doctorly . With the reply we now know who is handling the reply section.
@@maureendera6440 Haha it's a mix. We both answer throughout the day. -Dr. Maxfield
@@Doctorly would love to see a video on acne scar treatment, how to fade old scars and minimize new scaring 🙏
Paula's Choice BHA liquid exfoliant worked very well for me.
Learning and laughing at the same time! 😂 You guys are great. Don’t stop making these videos!
But I totally regret it now 😢🥺
your the best in explaining everything. Thank God I found your channel.
Omgeeee wish I would’ve watched this before I spilled my skin problems on the laroche video comments 😂 clearly you can tell I just found you guys. Thanks for educating us! 🙌🏾
Graphic was AWESOME.
Such a great video! I love how educational it was (yes, the diagrams were awesome). I've been on a mission to simplify my routine and a big part of the progress I've made is due to you guys. Thank you!
Thanks for the video guys...im a 39 year old woman and i use perscription tretinoin every night...i have used Bha's, Aha's and nicinamide in the past and none of them have made any impact on my large pores...i have them all over but they are particularly large on my cheeks and nose... ☹
Hi doc how to treat leg scars? Please answer. I badly need it. 😭 thank you!
New favorite channel! I needed this info a long time ago.

Tips and tricks to minimize my pores added to list ✔️
good video, telling people a common sense routine at the end was KEY. Would love more videos on brands that are good to use for each product.
Can't believe I'm just seeing this. The best video I've seen on pores. Thank you @Doctorly
I never comment on videos but just wanna say I love y’all and thank you for your videos and laughs 💕💕
Ah thank you so much - that means a lot
I love this!! I came here from the overhyped skin care products video😂😂 this is the best one cuz he flexed😂 u guys are funny😂

Peach & Lily host different brands on their website. One if them is eco your skin. They have a Meso Ampoule that when you apply it, actually helps with large pores & any scarring you have. Kind of expensive at $130, but look for sales when they have them or ask for it for Christmas. It does come in a big bottle that should last for a year at least, so it’s worth it. The reviews on it are very positive. I refer you to the videos by them on TH-cam. In particular, Alicia answers skincare questions and the 2019 winners for skincare.
I like the smirking smile of Dr Maxfield @1:25- 1:29, I wonder what was in his mind! Peace! am a health worker too.
