A detail you overlooked is that Chuuya's voice actor is the singer of the first and third op. Pretty neat if would say so myself.
he doesn't do the second opening, he does the third and the one for the movie - but fun fact, tachihara's voice actor does the second opening!
I was wondering if he knew that as well so I looked in the comments about it. Glad I checked though
when i got to the episode when Chuuya was first introduced, i knew it was the same voice ive been hearing through the opening song
I didn't know that!
I didn't know Chuuya had such lovely pipes!
Pro tip for watching this anime:
Prepare a drinking game for every time the main character has a tragic flashback. Makes the anime twice as good!
And your Liver a Diedr :'D
Me rewatching it and showing it to my sister made me realise all the flashbacks to the point "You good for nothing" became an inside joke and one i would call out before the Atsushi flashback happens, it was great ahahahaha
@@kelixbro3456 Same here. I showed it to my sister too. And somedays I would randomly say "get out you good for nothing," and my sister would immediately know what I'm talking about 🤣🤣
@@tricksta196 omllll bro thats amazing XD we also scream DAZAI SAN a lot too 🤣
I wouldn't call it Atsushi's flashback after the first episode. it's his trauma being visualized, that's why its the same every time it appears.
The abilities in Bungo Stray Dogs are based off of books the actual authors that the characters are based on wrote.
Honestly that fact makes me love the anime as a literature nerd
This becomes easier to see in seasons 2 and 3, where there are international characters. Let's face it, most people outside of Japan don't learn anything about their literature.
The way you wrote this is hard to understand.
@@Wesley76515 sorry lol, I meant that I love the fact the characters and abilities are based off of actual authors and the books they wrote
Dazai Osamu is a writer and the name of one of his works is a name of a bility used by Dazai
@@DThRe Not just Dazai but every character.
Bungou Stray Dogs is a 10/10 anime, that is WAY underrated
and all of the flashbacks are 10 times better than the main series. 1 of my favourite characters come from flashbacks.
chuuya.
ranpo is still my fav tho.
Agreed
I agreed too.
IKR
Agreed
Whats interesting about the anime is how much literate references it has.
For example Dazai trying to kill himself comes from the author attempting it several times and the "brother sister" comes from a book where 2 people treated each other like that along with saying they dont look alike implying no blood relation without explaining much else.
What did you expect from the anime where each character has its real life counterpart as an author? xd
Even him wanting to kill himself with someone, because iirc the real Dazai ended up killing himself together with his wife (or girlfriend).
@@kuroganekaze He actually did double suicide twice. First one he failed with his wife who did drowned. The second one he did die with a different spouse
@@artay4320 i did not know it had real life references until i got into the fandom. so I wasn't expecting it and was really amazed on the amount of work that Asagiri did for it.
@@kuroganekaze irl Dazai finally died drowning in the river with his wife. bsd Dazai's entrance to the story was him tryna drown down the river 🤣
I'm so glad Atsushi got a lot of appreciation here!! people really don't value him as a protagonist enough because he has less screentime than a normal protag, which is meant to be reflective of his own mindset.
I just want to point out that I love how Dazai’s voice, eyes and demeanor change depending on the situation he’s in.
With the agency, he’s the dorky partner who always likes to mess around with Kuni and doesn’t take work as seriously as he should. He has this carefree attitude and eyes with shine in them that emphasize this a bit.
But then you stumble across “serious business” Dazai. His voice is deeper and more devoid of emotion, his eyes lose shine and he is a lot more merciless and cruel when he needs to.
And it’s scary. And even though I’m used to the “Series Buffoon is actually the strongest guy in the series” trope, it still surprises me and amuses me even now.
Very underrated anime thanks for doing a video about this hidden masterpiece
I agree it's way too underrated it's such a good anime
The lighting in this show is superb. I love the artistic style, the music, and the balance of comedy and drama.
Dazai has the best facial expressions.
Honestly, I can watch this video a million times just to hear this anime get the love and appreciation it deserves. Although not a flawless anime with a bunch of content removed by studio bones, it is one of my favorite universes that I get to experience. Been patiently waiting for you to cover s2 as well, but until then, I'll keep on coming back to watching this video.
I've finished S2, hoping to put it out maybe 2 months from now, I really hope you enjoy it as I had such a blast covering it, plus Dead Apple and S3 have been voted in on Patreon already just not started those yet
This is based off a Manga and Light Novel series where the Manga is set in current day following Atsushi and goofy Dazai, while the LN is in the past, following Serious, ruthless Dazai as he works for the PM, and eventually evolves to who and where he is today, while giving backstory to other characters.
The Azure Messenger arc took place in the LN right after Dazai joined the ADA, serving as character backstory for Kunikida and development for Dazai going from ruthless Port Mafia to goody detective. He only left the Mafia a few months ago so you can still see how serious and ruthless he is when the taxi gets shot up, and when he gives the kid the gun to shoot her.
The only big difference with this arc is Atsushi is in the background not really doing anything and witness Dazai be serious and dark, but still not affect his view of him since they need to still follow the Manga, where he was never present for this event that took place years prior to him joining ADA. I think they didn't know what to do with these Dazai arcs when making the first season since S2 and 3 start off with Dazai backstory arcs before returning to modern day, and this would have been one of them had they thought of it before scripting S2.
If they started out with Dazai backstory, it may mislead you for the series going forward, thinking it's a serious crime drama, only for the next 20 episodes to be half comedy, and spoil the Serious Dazai plot twist, while if it played at the end, it wouldn't it the rest of the series, having their Dazai arcs at the beginning. I think it would have been best to have all 3 of them at the end of the seasons.
"He was a goofball the whole season, but he used to be serious and badass when he joined ADA"
"He was a goofball for 2 seasons and used to be serious, but damn he was cold and ruthless before he left PM"
I may be wrong here as I haven't check and feel free to correct me, but I think the LN is based 2 years after he leaves the PM (he's 20).
@@milkaddict7738 The LN takes place out of order and follows various backstories/background informations. Example:
Vol. 1- S1 Azure Messenger (excluding Atsushi since it's 2 years ago, Dazais first job)
Vol. 2- Odasaku story from S2
Vol. 3- How ADA was founded
Vol. 7- Dazai/Chuuya story from S3
You know, something I like: the juxtaposition between the typeset used for the inner inner thoughts/intros and the digital effect for when powers are used.
This anime is actually a hit in Japan coz it highlighted the most famous literature people in Japan's history, probably also the reason its kinda underrated in the West coz most context are definitely Japanese related but we still get to see European writers tho. The anime is fun, pacing was good, season 2 was where the fun begins, did not deviates from the manga, official AU and LN was a masterpiece and even the chibi series was the best, 10/10 would rewatch it anytime.
Hoping for season 4 ASAP
I was way too happy to see this anime covered here. You're one of my favourite youtubers honestly my guy, I love the way you cover things so extensively and parts I always wish others would cover! I'm not financially stable right now, but when I'm able to you'd better believe I'll become a patreon supporter without doubt.
Legend and ty so much for the comment
@@AnimeWins Will there be another review since there has been a second season?
Absolutely outstanding work just like always AnimeWins. I really hope you continue the series, because its a love child between JoJo's Bizarre Adventures and Sherlock Holmes. But I believe I should make a few things clearer for you if you haven't already discovered them yourself.
1. 2nd Season has an OVA episode called Walking Alone (Hitori Ayumu) and Its considered canon (literally ep. 25). So if you ever return to BSD series, this episode should be included.
2. The movie BSD: Dead Apple (2018) is considered canon to the anime timeline. (Just like Youjo Senki's Movie from 2019 where Tanya travels to Federation/Russia). Yet again, if you consider BSD worth your work, for full story, it should be covered as it touches on a really important past of one of its many characters.
Anime Wins, thank you for all your heart, honesty and joy you put into these videos and hopefully, we will be able to experience your POV on some of the newer serieses coming later or some gems from the past such as 1995's Ghost in the Shell or 1988's Akira.
May this comment help you get through the TH-cam algorithm to the likes and views you consider adequate for your work.

I agree with everything above
The Movie goes in between seasons 2 and 3!
@@evecampbell3069 Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that. Thanks Eve Campbell.
*26:25* Forgot how genuinely creepy Yosano can look sometimes-
I’ve literally been obsessing over this anime for like a year TwT. I’m so happy to see more people talking about; it deserves a lot more attention!
I've been waiting for this day to come. This anime is one of my favs
Have been waiting since he announced it. 5 months ago...
One of my favourite animes, I really hope to get all material animated.
Another anime with good light flares in my opinion is K Project.
Im also weird and like Yosano Akiko.
No blood no bone no ash
Aw, man. I've originally came here to, well, "rewatch" my favorite anime, and then discovered how charming and funny you are as well.
Can you make a season 2 video on this one? Please? I mean, if you still want to and if it's not too much trouble?
There's this whole flashback arc in the beginning of it, that's just absolutely amazing. It's about Dazai's time in the mafia and the reason he left. Aren't you interested? I promise, it's the most impactful piece of media I've seen in almost all of my life, and yes, that's obviously biased of me. But, please, oh, please, check it out!
The crispy animation, the line weight variety, the colors, the plot, the music. All of these gives this anime a sort of "type writer aesthetic" if that makes any sense. It feels old but not dated, its so aesthetically pleasing to watch.
Yes I've been waiting for soo long clicked faster than Dazai could say Chuuuuyaaa✨
Edogawa Ranpo is a real famous Japanese author who was also a Western Literature Otaku... his name is based off of Edgar Allan Poe Edo ga wa ran po... always thought that is funny
I know I'm a bit late on this but I did love you opinions on bsd and I would love to see your reaction to the rest of the seasons. Also if I may recomend another anime, I would also adore to see your opinions on banana fish and maybe given too. They are great, fluid animation and banana fish has some really great dialogue and fight scenes. Both deal with some pretty traumatic subjects especially banana fish and I can guarantee that if you don't cry by the end, you will still be absolutely devastated. But yeah just putting it out there.
Ayy, my favourite anime being reviewed by one of my favourite youtubers, dreams do come true
TBH, not a anime I thought you do on this channel, I mean I'm super happy you are doing it, I love this show, it was a super pleasant surprise to see in my recommended
Patreons gets what they vote in : )
Ohhhh boy you are going to love Dazai much much more in the next two seasons and whats best is that he's the ultimate chad in this series... Looking forward to the Anime Wins of next two seasons of BSD
Who wants to tell him that the abilities are based off the character's greatest works of their real life counterparts
I’ve been waiting for this to drop ever since it was announced on the community page!!
I love Bungo Stray Dogs so much.
Can’t wait for part 2.This anime makes the best AMVs
1. for the algorythm 2. My favourite anime 3. I have no third reason. Btw all characters are named after writers (mostly japanese later on also american) and their abillitys are based on their books its also the reason why so much is written down and not just phased in or just appears if you had not noticed. i love that fact so much and the dedication to it.
I actually screamed when I saw the title I'M SO HAPPY YOUR DOING A VIDEO ABOUT THIS ANIME ITS ONE OF MY FAVORITES
Love this hidden gem so much. It may not be the most in-depth power system, but it's still one of my favorites in anime.
i haven’t seen this anime in a few years, i didn’t have a good grasp on reality and how to enjoy story back when i watch it so i might rewatch the entire thing.
I am so so happy you covered this anime. I cannot wait too see what more you have in store. Thank you so much for what you do. Love ya!
"this boy is starving to death...but look at how pretty it is !!"
1:55
As well as literally my favourite seiyuu just because he’s so funny and always plays lovable characters.
Just some of his roles:
Atsumu Miya - Haikyu!!
Rintaro Okabe - Steins Gate
Rin Matsuoka - Free!
Shu Tsukiyama - Tokyo Ghoul
Gakushu Asano - Assassination Classroom
JJ - Yuri On Ice
Masaomi Kita - Durarara!! 3:25
Death The Kid - Soul Eater
Ling Yao - FMA
Tamaki Suoh - OHSHC
And many others that I wont waste any more time trying to remember
Yay you are finally doing it!!
Oh yeah Higuchi (the blonde woman) has the same va as Nobara from JJK and Mai from Rascal Dreams of Bunny Girl Senpai.
One of my all-time favourite anime
Wow what a coincidence i was just thinking about this few hours ago since it's an underrated anime and is a gem to behold
Ahhhhh BSD is my favorite anime and this is making me want to watch it again for the 100th time now haha
My absolute favorite anime, and of the great things about it is to me the voice actors! They all do such an amazing job portraying the characters and also there are some great and well known ones in here!
PLEASE, PLEASE, Do season 2 of BSD. It’s so good!!!!
So glad to see a video about this super underrated anime. I'm not sure if you noticed, but a really neat thing about this series is that all the characters and their abilities are literature references (mostly Japanese authors, but not exclusively), kind of like how JoJo has a lot of music references.
You gotta do season 2 and 3 the hype is always rising. Pleeeeeeeeeeeas
Omg I haven't watched the video yet but THANK YOU for doing Bungou Stray Dogs! I LOVE this anime and feel like it doesn't get the recognition it deserves! :)
My favourite thought play: how would it be to have the Bungo stray Dogs Characters in My Hero Academia... IT WOULD BE GREAT
I love this, and it's not your fault cause you didnt know back then, but the rage I felt when you refered to him as 'awsome doctor'
I'm so happy to see this show getting some recognition!! Can't wait for season two since it's absolutely my favorite season!
Bungo stray dogs was never really on my radar, but i may have to actually watch it now
This is one of my absolute favorite anime!!! So glad you covered it 💖
I was recommended this at the beginning of the year put it of for like a month or two and regretted it greatly as it has became one of my faves and is criminally underrated
I remeber loving the first and second season of this to bits when they came out but forgetting it over the years. Nice seeing this pop up and reminding me that there was a 3rd season and a movie (which I never watched)
I especially love the music in the anime tbh
I adore it as well, it added so much feels to the scenes
Leaving a comment for the algorithm, so glad you decided to cover Bungo Stray Dogs btw!
"I have no such tastes in men."
**giggle**
No wayyyy!!! I been waiting on you to drop a video on this underated beast hopefully u'll do the movie as well hats off
im so happy he's covering this! i cant wait for season two!!!! (if he does it, which I hope he does)
You need to make it a video on season 2 it's so much better then first season and i love season 1
I've been waiting for this!!! I love this anime a lot! I even looked up the various stories from the authors in this anime.
Always love your videos!! Haven't been able to watch due to my exams but I'm back!!!❤️
That first ED is my jam, and peanut butter, and toast. What an awesome song
Never clicked on a video faster in my life , THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS VIDEOOOOO
Ooooo, this show is so underrated and so good, hope you enjoyed it too :D I still gotta finish that S3 lol.
I adore this anime, so glad your covering it. Looking forward to hopefully seeing s2 and 3 covered eventually, definitely looking forward to your next part of Black Clover, too-
Season 2? also amazing video as always
I love bsd so much and I would definitely love to see you make a video for the other seasons and the movie. It's one of my all time favourite series and I love the later seasons so much
I've been looking forward to this video for ages!! Thanks!!
When you gave points saying Thorfinn, Chrollo......Lmao, it's so me!!! I enjoy the anime even better when there are voice crossovers. I freaking love it!
I love bsd would you be willing to do the rest of the seasons
I sure hope this will garner enough attention to warrant the second season being covered too! I just recently started watching it, and while this first season is already insanely good, it's like a warm-up for things to come. It's the drawing board to introduce and establish the main cast, and beyond that lies the bigger story arcs.
Can't wait to see when you cover season 2 and onwards, great video!
So glad you're covering this anime! I hope you do season 2 and season 3 especially since it's my absolute favourite!
Absolutely wonderful video on this anime! It's been a couple years since I watched it so I'm happy to be reminded about how great it is with your awesome commentary! Keep up the great work and can't wait for you to cover the rest of the series!
So glad you covered BSD and can't wait for Seasons 2, 3, and Dead Apple!
ohhh, i never realized that atsushi v.a is thorfin
its so much fun to see that anime after so many years again. Thanks for making this video
Without question my favorite anime, I've been obsessed since I first found it 3 or so years ago. So glad to see it on this channel, looking forward to the other two (for now) seasons!
I like to think of it as taking place in the same universe as Boku no Hero Academia, but in modern times when abilities/quirks started becoming more commonplace. I think Dazai mentioned only 10% or so of people have abilities (might be overestimating that, it's been a while), and most of them go their whole lives without realizing.
IVE NEVER CLICKED SO FAST
As soon as the alert came I click
ME TOO
can't wait for part 2
2:00 And Riku from Kingdom Hearts (Which game? Yes)
I’m glad how in last few months BSD seem to having a resurgence I personally love the show a few years ago but had a hard time getting other to watch but now I’m the one being told by the same people to watch it I just find it funny.
Man I love this anime so much I want to see you do a video on season 2
You covering my current fave anime made my whole week!
heck yeah i love this anime, thanks for covering it!!
I want to comment just to tell you how great your channel is and the amount of effort u put in :DD
You are so right about it being similar to Durarara! Those are both my favourite anime. Also, I'm unsure of the production team, but Edogawa Ranpos actor is the same as Izaya Orihara.
Loved the little details you stumbled upon. You've got an great eye
YESSSS!!! Oh my god YES! finally! I love this show thank you for making this happen!!! TvT
I love this series. I relate to so many of the characters.
PLEASE do Season 2
People we need to vote in Bungo Stray Dogs season two in the next wins voting
Bro seriously you're going to love this anime it is amazing
I’ve been waiting so long for someone to review this master piece
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS ANIME SO MUCH CAN'T WAIT FOR THE OTHER SEASONS ALREADY!!! ♥
Also seeing how you reacted to the plot twists you will absolutely love the fourth season when it gets adapted.
Another great video, I really enjoy hearing your takes on these anime. And your humor is just top notch.
Love it when you cover these underrated gems. Gives me hope that more people go an watch them
Can't wait to see you cover the other seasons, especially with season 4 coming this year :)
Loced this video so much I realy hope he also dose the next two seasons
