If you're wondering about the "Britain's real monarch" thing, he made a video about that too. If you search for that on his channel you can find it. In terms of British history, the Jacobite succession video is also interesting.

Grandfather Lawrence Washington once owned Stonehenge ;-) Scotland originally did monarchy via "tanistry" ... not "primogeniture" as did Ireland. The clans elected a new chief from a selection of relatives of the dead chief (a king being the paramount chief, with lesser chiefs ruling provinces). This is how Macbeth actually became king, he didn't murder the previous king, nor did his wife ... Duncan was killed by Macbeth's troops when Duncan invaded Macbeth's province. Macbeth was a hero, having previously fought the Norwegian Vikings. Macbeth was pious and did pilgrimage to Rome when king, and was generous to the poor there; and seventeen years later, Malcolm the son of Duncan, wanting to establish primogeniture for the first time, and with Anglo-Saxon backing and married to an Anglo-Saxon princess, invaded Scotland and killed Macbeth in battle.

Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte was adopted by King Karl XIII to become Sweden's King Karl XIV Johan. The bloodline that still holds the throne too this day.

Please make a video on Polish kings. We had an interesting system with royal elections instead of inheriting the throne

This is fascinating to think about. I wonder if they'd have married back into the British royals at some point.

10:00 Those rules are not always so straight forward. They differ from place to place and from time to time. People like to think the rules are fixed immutably because it makes the king feel like he was destined to rule and it helps promote stability. But in practice, if a king turns out to be really rubbish, countries often find new rules, so it turns out someone else should actually be king after all. It's always about how to establish authority and being the rightful heir is only a part of that. Politics is always involved.

Washington as King would be pretty difficult. Americans Hated King George (the 3rd) but would love King George (the 1st.... of America) Pretty confusing

Mildred Warner!!! The name Warner originates from a place in Leicestershire, Coleorton. My maiden name was Warner, small world. No claim to any family links. Coleorton is near Loughborough.

Half way through and up comes something that apparently Americans are quite mistaken about .
Certainly in the modern UK, a monarch does not choose the successor, there is a laid down list of Rules of Succession.
Slipping off sideways ,I am sure that this error of protocol is why the wife of the Duke of Sussex really thought that her chance of sitting on the throne was a better than 50/50 chance. She thought that the Queen had chosen her son to be her heir and therefore he ( Charles)would do the same. If they could in some way outshine the other brother ,then BINGO!
It all collapsed for her when she found out her mistake and she had gone for the wrong brother .Or perhaps the wrong throne?
