Thanks for the interesting comparison! What can you say when comparing the naturalness of the sound of live instruments and voices? It seemed to me that the A90D (A90) sounds less natural than Class A amplifiers (for example, the HiFiMan EF 400).
I would say the A90D sounds more natural to me, the Singxer has a small roll off in treble my opinion that makes it sound less natural when i’m using my hifiman he-6sev2
However if your using a bright headphone than maybe the singxer sounds better because it takes off some of the treble glare

It has multiple levels of gain. So maybe adding a switch in the front will degrade the audio. Or it will add more cost to implement a quality switch in the front.
Definitely a great headphones amplifier to add another flavour.
i think so it does make it much more awkward to use
Singxer sa1 jumper mod is worth a look. Set it and boy was it a upgrade:10% more of everything. 😅

how was the a90d bass compared to sa-1 for bass extension/impact/dynamics/texture?
like i said its from memory but I think A90d had better texture and extension, the impact and dynamics i thought were pretty close. But the A90D has this thickness to it that makes me lean towards the A90D for dynamics
I would not consider the Topping A90D a top tier amplifier. Sure, it has nice specs and measures well, but it is very limited on power and there are a lot of headphones that it just can't drive. I ended up replacing mine with an iFi iCAN Signature and have no regrets whatsoever.

Flip the unit to it bottom for accessing H/L gain? Wow... i wonder what else they thought while designing this amp.

I have A90D now. Looking for an upgrade... This Singxer does not appear to be it. :) Gonna have to be fully Class A. GS-X Mini, maybe try MLP for fun. Burson Soloist 3XP was too sharp/bright.
interesting yeah the a90d is really good of course theres always something more interesting on the market. The Burson Soloist was on my radar for a while but still havent been able to try it. I guess it using "discrete op amps" made me a bit skeptical for the price they charging

Its not a bad amp but I expect more from it. I guess that good class A amps starts at 1000$+
