    We’re looking at a 1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Factory Original Prototype with correct silver paint.
    The car's Owner is Curt Richards. Curt’s had this car since 2011. Curt shares how this car has had everything restored back to original. This “Prototype” is 1 of 2 Prototypes produced, however the other car was destroyed. So this is the ONLY one, and you’re looking at a piece of Pontiac history!

    Love this car! '67-'73 Pontiacs are highly collective, rare, better built than a Chevy, and grossly undervalued on the world collector car stage (good if you're a buyer - not so good if you have a barn full of 'em). The best part of a rare, expensive car is always the car's story -- and this car has a great story!

    • @heychevrolet299
      @heychevrolet299 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brian Styles I wouldn't get to outta hand here. Those pontiacs are bearings and couldn't hold upnlikw Chevy's. They are nice cars though. Pontiac put 305/350 and then LS engines in there cars for a reason

    • @slimvickins5059
      @slimvickins5059 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey Chevrolet Pontiac destroys Chevy,Ford,Mopar. Every heard of the ram air v? Yeah probably not because it was banned because it was so far ahead of anything else. All iron. Not aluminum like the ls6. So Chevy was allowed to stuff all aluminum 427s into camaros but Pontiac was only allowed to out their 400 into Firebirds not the 428 or 455? Pontiac was screwed over. I think Chevy and or Ford used their money and power to prevent Pontiac from reaching its potential!

    • @slimvickins5059
      @slimvickins5059 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Brian Styles And that's just the banned(production) RAM air v. The extremely rare RAM air II from '68 was a 400 that ran low 12s on stock tires. My favorite and most underrated engine. RAM Air II, IV, and V engines were untouchable

      I have an extremely rare fully options (30) Loaded 1968 FB 400HO Convertible, and a 1969 400HO FB coupe.
      Yes, the RA IV heads-Intake and exh manifolds are most unbelievable matched set of components I've seen yet.
      Outside the Chevrolet L88-ZL1 Aluminum cyl heads, the Pontiac #722 RA IV setup are for superior to 95% what's out there all across the board.
      I have owned Ford 427 High Riser heads & manifold, the Ford 429 SJC round port Head & manifold set ups', 428 SCJ heads and engines.
      The Pontiac line is by far the most enjoyable and well documented line of cars.
      My 69 400HO with just a .550 lift cam and the stock 10:75 compression slugs could run 12:50s' all day long.
      These engine have Giant 2.16/1.77 valves in them which flow very well.
      I'de love to get this car on this video, yet I don't have $275K to throw at it!

    i'm not totally sure about this, but if i recall correctly, i read in one of my pontiac magazines that another thing that made this car special is the all aluminum ram air iv v8, which further increased the cars balance and power to weight. the idea that initially inspired the creation of the trans am was to compete with chevrolet's camaro z/28.

    It's weird because I love the 67/68 Firebirds/TA's and Camaros and I love the 70-73 of both as well, but the 69 Camaro and Firebird/TA I don't like that much. This is still a beautiful car, don't get me wrong, but that one year I don't like that much. Mustangs, the 69 Boss is my favorite of all. I love that they used to have subtle changes all the time back in the day. This is probably the nicest looking 69 Bird I've seen. The only change I'd really like is to ditch the spoiler and just have the lip on the back like the 67/68 had. I think that one little change would win me over on the 69 Bird/TA. Thanks for sharing though, I'm trying to get into the 69 Bird and Camaro. It's weird because that year you can, see the transition and the direction they were going to go. It's almost like a 50/50 mix of a 68 and 70. Maybe it's just me, but that's how I've always seen both from that year. This is a beautiful car though, it's helping to win me over on the 69. Very slick, love the color, just do not like the spoiler. I'm sure with enough money that could be changed though. Most probably wouldn't want to do that, but that's just me and my opinion which is worth Jack shit to anyone other than me.

    I'd give my left nut for that automobile. It would be so great if you could go down to the GM dealer today and order any car/model they made after 1948 exactly as it came off the line with any available options for it's model year.

    • @loucostabile
      @loucostabile  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi W G, The camera is fine. Challenge is TH-cam would ask, "Would you like to stabilize the video?" DO NOT click yes, as I did because this is the result. Lesson painfully learned, Lou

    • @Woofagooba
      @Woofagooba 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would explain why so many can be seen like this. Good to know.

    • @loucostabile
      @loucostabile  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sadly I to thought it was my camera and did not realize this from 2013 until about mid 2015. To correct the issue I would have to reload all the videos from that time period, and that would be a LARGE undertaking, so I look at it as I'm learning and hopefully getting better as I go.

    all 1969 trans am's I've seen were pearl white with blue stripes that was the only way they made them, if this is what he says it is its worth a fortune, but i have a hard time believing it is real and not a clone, it's hard to believe that someone would be selling it on ebay it i is a one of a kind genuine trans am.

    that car is bits and pieces! ram air 4 was a 455 with shaker hood in 1970! that hood is a formula the interior dash and console is out of a 1968! the 400 370 hp power was put in 1969 grand prix! 69 came with 350 2 barrel 3 speed manual or a 350 4 barrel 350 hp 4 speed manual! Then they decided on the trans am and formula versions! 1970 ended up with a 455 ram air 4. Amazing how times R&D changed the car before they came with the ones they would market

    Well I'm sure now...muscle cars are mid life crisis rich people cars now. A regular man cant buy one. That's why 80s and 90s model sports cars are becoming desirable because vintage cars are outrageously priced. Rich people want em. Dealers jack up prices. Saddens a car lover like myself
